  1. glad to hear she has an assistant now! Good luck with the weather situation! I feel bad that I'm complaining about our cold weather (68 degrees) and your dealing with snow I'm sending you over some "happy weather dust" and a margarita!
  2. Congrats Danielle!! Glad to hear you are not having too many symptoms, but hopefully the heartburn won't be repeating! I've been feeling blah these last few days, that's why I haven't been checking up on the preggos (sorry ladies). I'm not throwing up, but I feel like I have nausea all the time. I've been trying to keep eating little meals to avoid my stomach turning. It's been helping for the most part, but I'm still not feeling 100%. I have an appt today with my doc, so I'll keep you all posted when I get back!

SO cute!!! I purchased my police garter from Ebay, so I'm not sure if it looks the same as yours but my hubby totally loved it!! It has a little badge, police car, and handcuffs. I'm sure your FI will LOVE IT too and will be shocked to see a garter like that!
  4. I thought I would check in with the RIU brides and see how the planning has been coming along! Bakerisacat- Your wedding is just around the corner! Good luck, can't wait to see pics!
  5. Hi all! So, I went to my doc's on Wed because I called and I told her I had discharge (sorry if that's TMI) and wanted to know if it was normal. Anyway, she had me go to her office and while we were there she did an ultrasound with that probe-thing (still don't know what that darn thing is called) and we were able to see some action for the first time. Although the baby looked like a blurry circle, I was so excited to be able to see him/her for the first time! We were also able to see the heart beating and it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!

I read that during your 2nd trimester, you are suppose to regain some energy. I really hope it's true! Good luck and stay awake!
  7. I'm trying not to get too excited, but our offer was just accepted on a beautiful house we wanted!! It's a short-sale, so it still needs to go through a BOA (broker's opinion of appraisal) and the bank has to approve the appraisal amount. There are so many shortsales in Southern CA right now, so we feel very positive that the bank will rather accept than go into forclosure because that's been happening with most of the homes in this specific area. The house sold in 2005 for $700,000 and we offered $480,000, can you believe that?! We put an offer on a house a few months ago and it fell out of escrow because the buyers didn't disclose a major issue with the house, so I hope everything goes well with this one! I don't have any pics at the moment, but I will try to get some as soon as possible. But here some of the specs of the house- Built in 2003, located in Corona End of a cul-de-sac 11,700 sq ft lot and home is 3,600 sq ft 3 car garage Rock pool and jacuzzi Covered outside patio w/ full outside kitchen (sink, BBQ, fridge, etc.) 5 bedrooms, 3 baths formal dining and living room, family room additional living room upstairs The house just needs a few cosmetic repairs (replace carpet upstairs, fresh paint) but other than that it's great! I hope the inspection and appraisal go well!! Please keep you fingers crossed for us because we have worked very hard saving for this dream house!!! Geez this is a big month, I find out I'm pregnant and get a house all within a few weeks! I hope everything works out!! It's so difficult not to let your emotions take over you!!

Except I missed a pill this month and didnt take it until 2 days later to catch up. Which according to all the websites about conception, that day I missed the pill is basically during my "fertile" time. I'm just nervous about the idea. I still have 9days until my I'm suppose to get my period. I'm afraid to take an at home pregnancy test and get false results because it's too soon. At first I really didn't think this was the right time to have baby. I wanted to wait a year and enjoy married life. Now, I secretly hope I am. See, I told you I was a wreck! Atleast, my husband is being supportive. So I guess we'll see what happens. I felt the same way you did before confirming I was pregnant. I really wanted to spend some time with just my husband and I and he's the one who wanted me to get pregnant right away. But, when I was about to take the pregnancy test, I so badly wanted it to be positive! I'm so happy that I am now! So, maybe it wasn't exactly the timing you wanted, but everything happens when you least expect it and it works out perfect. Keep us posted!! Quote: Originally Posted by Angel Hello ladies!!!! Well, besides being tired and having to pee all the time, I'm great. I didn't even know you were pregnant, congratulations! How have you been feeling? Quote: Originally Posted by Bisha Hello ladies? I had a weird pain on my left side all morning and was uncomfortable enough where I actually called my doc. He said it was probably round ligament pain but I later figured out that it wasn't! I got a couple nice kicks right into my left side; one actually made me jump! LOL At first I wasn't sure exactly what it was but then I kept feeling it and then I felt another one, lighter, on my right side! I guess it was the baby's way of letting me know it actually is in there. I asked my doc if he's sure it's still in there at my last appointment! LOL Too cute! I can't wait to feel the baby start to kick!

How does your DH like the LAPD, and which station does he work at? I write about all the overnight crime in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties, so I know how dangerous LAPD patrolled areas can be ~ do you ever worry about him being on the job?? I have a feeling I'm going to be a worrywart if FI enters law enforcement... Yes, we need to set up a BDW meeting since there are so many of us from the LA area! My hubby loves working in the LAPD. He's been an officer now for 10 years and he's about to be made Sgt. He's currently working out of the Hollenbeck station, but we're still not sure where he'll end up as Sgt. Since that isn't the best of areas, I do worry about him. But, I've learned to live with it and it doesn't stress me out at all anymore. He used to work in the gang unit at that same station and that was a bit more stressful because there were times where him and I would be out in LA just having a drink or whatever and we would see a cholo he had arrested and that's never good. But, he's been out of that unit for a while so I think it's much better now. Even if you are a worry worm in the beginning, you some how will adjust to the stress and his schedule just fine. I think, for me, what makes it worse is when I'm watching the news and they announce a shooting in the area where my hubby works and then they leave you hanging until after commercials!! Other than that, you just get use to it. You will be just fine!!! And, it's great he gets to work in such a nice and safe area as Newport!!
  10. So...here's my update- I went to the doctor's on Friday and she said I was 5 weeks pregnant. However, when she did an ultrasound she couldn't find anything, so she used a probe (not sure what it's called) to see inside of me and she said I only look about 3 weeks pregnant. She seemed a little concerned about it but said that it could be because of my irregular periods ( I usually get my period every 30-35 days). She had my blood tested Friday to check out the hormone levels and I was suppose to go today to have my blood checked again to make sure the levels are rising. Well, Sunday night I had severe cramping and I began to bleed quite a bit when I went to the restroom. So, I went to ER and I was there for hours getting tested. I wouldn't stop crying because I thought for sure I had a miscarriage. Well, my blood results came back and the hormone levels more than doubled since Friday. So, that was great news! They said that it's common for women to bleed their first trimester, they just warned me to return to the ER if continue to bleed enough to where I have to change my pads multiple times through out the day. Luckily, I haven't bled at all since then and my cramping is minimal now. They still have to call me back to confirm my results didn't show any infections that may have caused the bleeding. But, they wrote off the chance of it being an ectopic pregnancy, so that was a relief. I'm so happy everything was positive that night! I'm getting my blood checked again tomorrow and I have my first prenantal appt Friday. So, I feel very grateful and lucky everything turned out well! I'm just going to remain positive because I know it's still very early.
  11. Hi all, I missed my period this month, so I just took a pregnancy test last night (well, I actually took two just to make sure) and it was posotive! I'm still in shock and feeling very emotional about it. I didn't think I would get pregnant this fast!?!? But, I'm really excited!!! It's just that it's still very early and I just hope everything turns out well. I'm thinking I'm a little less than 4 weeks. I made an appt today to get a pregnancy test and my doc's and to get checked up. I'm having a lot of cramping, is that normal? Normally, this is when I would be on my period, so I'm guessing that may explain the cramps. I did notice out-of-the ordinary stomach cramps (very minor ones) from the very beginning, so I hope this is just part of the pregnancy and nothing bad. But I already have noticed my boobs getting swollen and extremely sensitive! And, I can tell I've been extra tired lately. Any way, I'll keep you all posted!
  12. Yikes, I'm sorry to hear you are stressing over that! But, congrats to him! This will be a posotive move for both of you because at least you both know you will always have a very steady income. Every department is different, like you said, because my hubby's academy was 8-9 months (LAPD). Good luck with everything and keep us posted. By the way, we are almost neighbors now. Now that I got married, I moved to my hubby's house in Downey and Cerritos isn't too far away!

  15. So.......we talked last night about the situation! We were forced to talk earlier when I got home because his mother was there. And, after she left we started talking about other things and I casually brought up the arguements from the last few days. We both apologized to eachother for being short. We both talked about what's been the biggest obstacle since moving in, things like that, so we can better understand where the other is coming from. I know I need to learn that I can't be insulted if he doesn't want to snuggle with me on the couch when ever I want to and he said he will learn to leave me alone for a bit when I get home from work and driving in crazy traffic so I can rest. But, that's it! Thanks everyone for your input! I'm sure the hubby and l will be pissing each other off plenty of other times in the near future, but at least now I know it's normal and part of the whole "moving-in-together" phase!
  16. Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this. You are all very right and I feel better knowing that this isn't an unusual bump in the road we are going through! I use to feel like a bad person when I secretly wanted to kick my husband to shut him up after he's been talking about crap I don't care about after I just finished driving over an hour from work- and now I don't feel so bad because it's not just me! I just hope these next few days don't continue the way they have been going because this makes me not even want to go home! I just have to keep reminding myself his schedule will only be like this for another two weeks..... I'll keep you ladies posted tonight on what happens when I go home...
  17. Hey Carly, I think 90% of it is just what you said, space. We are both the type that need our alone time and now with his schedule change, we don't have much of that. The other 10% of it, I'm not really sure what it is. We're not fighting over anything in particular, it's more of us getting annoyed with each other and snapping over petty things.
  18. So, we've only been married for two months and the last few days we have just been on each other's last nerve! I don't think this is good... My hubby and I didn't live together until we got married nor have we ever lived with a boyfriend/girlfriend in our previous relationships; this was very new to both of us. Plus, the house we were suppose to buy together fell out of escrow, so until we find another one we moved into the house he already owned and I pretty much took over that (I redecorated immediately and got rid of some of his stuff). So, I'm sure that hasn't been easy for him either. So, I expected this to be difficult at some point as we both get use to one another's annoying habbits and in each other's or whatever. But, this is where I think the problem started- My hubby is a police officer, so his schedule is very different from mine. The days he does work, he's gone for an average of 15 hours then just comes home to sleep and the days he's off, he's usually busy working in the garage or doing whatever he couldn't do the days he was working. And, we were both use to that schedule because even before we lived together, I would only come over on his days off. So, the first few weeks of our marriage, I didn't seem that different from before besides the fact that I'm now sleeping there every night instead of a few times a week! Well, my hubby just got promoted and is currently in sergeant school for a month getting trained and is now working a Mon-Fri schedule and he's off by 4 daily. For the first time ever, we both have the same schedules and now see each other every single day. It's been like this for 2 weeks and the last few days, I think he's just had it with me. I think it's much more him than it is me because he's the one just being short, but then I respond the same way back to him so I'm sure I contribute tons to the problem. I rolled my eyes at him yesterday because I asked him something about the dog and he told me not to worry about it. Well, after I rolled my eyes, he got so upset he yelled "I hate it when you do that" then slammed the office door in front of me and locked it. I just laughed and went to bed. But, it's stupid little arguements lately that have been making us go to bed the last few nights with out even talking and it bothers me because we are newlyweds! This isn't suppose to happen, right?! I know this is a big transition for both of us since we are living with someone else for the first time and we are constantly in each other's space, but I'm just starting to worry that this is not the way a marriage is suppose to start? Am I just worried over something completely normal or is this a big deal?
  19. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Captain Morgan pose! That's a standard pose my hubby and I do all the time! Very cute to see it in your wedding outfits! Your TTD session sounded exactly like mine! I was so sick with a stomach virus and super weak that day. The minute I stepped into the ocean, my dress felt like it was 100 pounds and with the waves crashing so hard, I didn't have the energy or balance to stand on my own. I only got 3 pics in the water because I just wanted out!! Your pics are going to look amazing, I can't wait to see them! Diego did my wedding and Vincent did my TTD and I was very happy with them both! So, I can only imagine how great yours will turn out!
  20. Beautiful pics! You looked so pretty! The sky looked amazing on your wedding day; so bright blue! Congrats!!
  21. Regarding the prices at Renova Spa, I thought they were fairly priced too. I paid about $140 for my hair, mani, and pedi. The prices for your hair will vary on the style and the time needed to do your hair.
  22. Geez, you ladies are good! Before I posted, all I was thinking of doing was melting some Velveta cheese and adding salsa to make dip! Ha ha, I'm glad I posted! Thank you so much!!
  23. Hi all! I'm having my 3 best friends come over tonight for drinks and food as a thanks for all they did to help me on my wedding day. I don't want to make dinner because they are coming over late, so what I was thinking was just appetizers. However, I'm clueless on what I should make. We're all drinking different beverages tonight (one likes Vodka, the other likes wine, etc) so I can't exactly pair up the food with what we are having to drink. I just need some simple recipes for appetizers that don't involve too much time (I have about 2 hours to make something and get myself ready) and have pretty basic ingredients. Thanks in advance!

Should I finally lose it on her over the phone (tehehehe) or just wait till our meeting there (FI is wanting me to wait, but I think that's because of what the phone bill will be lol)? Did you use Renova Spa for your hair by chance? I am booked there and have to go in the day before to finalize what I want to do with my hair/make up and am getting a bit worried! Ashley PS to Lena... HI! Hi, Ok, I'm at ease now knowing that Pamela wasn't just doing this to me! I had the same issues with her about reconfirming things to her as if she never read my emails the first dozen times!! I had to confirm my dinner location 4 times before she finally got it right and even when the location was right she reserved it for the incorrect amount of people 3 times after that! Ahhhhh !! Regarding your question- I would start confirming the flowers/decor before you arrive just so you can both be on the same page. Atleast this way you will know what will be available to you there or what she suggests. I kept thinking about calling her too and completely going off on her too. But, I didn't and just kept it cool the day we met. I did completely ignore her the day following the wedding because I was really upset with her! I'm such a dork- I just realized I didn't write a review about Renova Spa. Yes, I did get my hair done there and so did the moms and sis-in-laws. My sis-in-laws had to go over to Riu Cancun's spa because they couldn't accommodate all of us at RPLA's spa. I thought both mom's hair do's looked great. Although mine didn't look exactly how the picture I provided looked, I still really loved my hair. The best thing about it, my wedding day was extremely windy and my hair managed to stay in place through out the entire night. I didn't have time to do a "practice updo", so I was really worried about them messing up my hair, but everything turned out great. I had a mani and pedi done there too that day and loved it. Quote: Originally Posted by amdecker I have a different WC than you and Mrs. Martin, I have Lizette. I haven't really contacted her for anything yet. But I still have some time before my wedding. Mrs. Martin, I would love to get your template for the welcome and info brochures... I am actually surprised that the day passes were $75. I thought the were $100 each, but that stinks that you couldn't get a deal since you brought so many vendors to the hotel... I think leaving the OOT bags with the receptionist is a good idea. Just curious, how much do you think I should tip them to do that?...That dessert sounds like a good idea. I started with Lizette too and as the wedding got closer, Pamela took over. So, I'm not sure if it will be the same for you, but hopefully you will get to stay with Lizette because she seems to reply promptly to her emails. I have the templates on my home computer, so I will be more than happy to send them to you when I get home. Yes, the passes are usually $100, but they give you $25 off when you get married there and purchase passes. So, it helped us especially since we bought so many. Regarding the tip I left for the receptionist, I gave her $7.00 (USD) because I think that's all I had at the time. I gave her 7 or 8 bags that needed to be handed to the guests, so a dollar a bag I guess was pretty good. The guests all got them without any problems and that's what I was most worried about.
