  1. I chose the Presidential/Fuentes Gazebo because I liked the greenery. I visited in May, from what I remember, it was private...there were only a few lounge chairs near by, but, it was not crowded at all. Also, I'm pretty sure that it is not close to the gazebo 55 because we got back on the golf cart that we were being toured around on from 55 to fuentes.
  2. I feel for you!!!! The exact same thing happened to me about 2-3 months ago....I was devastated! I had a Mac also and they couldn't recover it without me paying over $2000. I know it's annoying, but, most of the bookmarks, you can recover....perhaps, you sent some of your pics over email I did that with some and was able to recover, but, basically the last 4 years of my life is gone! I hope the same thing does not happen with you!
  3. We chose the Presidential gazebo which is just north of Gazebo 55. I can send you a picture if you pm me with your email address. That is strange though that you can't have it there now.

    New EDR bride

Hi Ashley, Welcome to the forum! I am also an EDR bride. I'm getting married there 1 week after you on May 2, 2009! We might cross paths at some point....
  5. Welcome to the forum! You'll find a lot of great people and resources here!
  6. Everything looked great! And, you looked beautiful! I love your dress! Congrats!
  7. Hi Heidi! You did an amazing job! I love your colors! Congratulations!! I was wondering where you got the ceremony fans...I'm looking for some for my wedding. Looking forward to your review... Rhonda
  8. Dreamgirl, Thanks for your reply. I am also working with Valeria and so far she's been great! I think I just get nervous that things will get booked by other parties and I won't have my first choice. But, I think you're right, things could change, so it's best to wait. Anyway, reading the forum helps and I'm realizing that there are so many great places at EDR, that I'm sure I'll be happy where ever! Happy planning to you too!
  9. Hi, I just booked my wedding at EDR for May 2, 2009. I'm SO happy that decision has been made, but, now I need to make a lot more decisions! I am wondering...For any past or future EDR brides, how soon did you choose the locations for the wedding events (ceremony, cocktail, reception)? I was told by my WC that you can't book locations until at least 6 months before... What has been your experience? Thanks for your help!
  10. Hi, I just got back from my site visit at EDR and I'm considering EDR for my wedding next year. I've been reading about all the issues going on with the outside vendor policies. Today, when I asked the WC about the updated policy, she sent me the old policy. I'm waiting to hear back from her to confirm the new policy, but, could you tell me where you found the new updated policy for outside photographers. Thanks! Rhonda
  11. Hi Shannon, I just got back from my site visit trip last night. It turned out to be an interesting trip and not what I had expected. I met with Zulma (the WC at the Royal) on Saturday. She is very sweet. She showed us the different locations for wedding ceremony and reception. She also showed us a room. I stayed at the Royal last year with my fiance and absolutely loved it and that is where I thought we would end up getting married. But, now, looking at it with a different eye, I realized that I'm looking for something different for my wedding. We are probably having a large group (50 -100 people) and I wanted something a bit more private. So, mainly for that reason, I have decided on the El Dorado (despite all the issues you may have read about). The feeling I got there was different (more private) than what I felt my wedding would be like at the Royal. But, honestly, I think the Royal is a great place and would still recommend it to anyone! I think it just depends on what you're looking for....If you have any specific questions, though, I may be able to help! FYI, If you're working with Zulma I'm sure you will really like her. The one thing, I appreciated was that she will basically do anything you want! For example, if you want a certain type of cake or flower or whatever...she said she will most likely get it for you. I liked that a lot! Anyway, good luck planning your wedding and let me know if you have any questions about the Royal. Rhonda
  12. Stephanie, I'm also looking at the Aventura Spa Palace and El Dorado Resort (but, not sure this one will be an option due to all the issues I'm reading about). I will definitely find out what the price is for the dinner reception and I will check out the ballroom. I'll let you know when I get back next week.
  13. That's interesting (and annoying!). I'm just wondering who you were speaking with. I am meeting with Dulce this weekend for a site inspection and would like to know if this is something that I should be concerned about with her. Thanks!
  14. Ok, I'll let you know how it all goes! Shannon, that would be fun if we got to meet next year on our wedding day. I'm also looking at 2 other places while I'm there this week, but, Royal is so far my top choice.
  15. Hi ladies, I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing my site visit at The Royal this Saturday, May 10th. I'm meeting with Zulma the WC. If you have any questions or anything you'd like me to check out while I'm down there let me know. I'd be happy to help anyone out! I'm tentatively booked there for May 2, 2009.
  16. Penn State....Go Nittany Lions!!!
  17. I love your invites! Did your sister do the whole thing? How did she do it? I am looking for an invite with pockets.
  18. I will be visiting ASP in 3 weeks and would like to meet with the WC. Does anyone have the name and email of the WC? I have contacted the palace resorts general email, but, no one has responded. Thanks so much for your help!
  19. Ok, got it! By the way, Antonia, you're wedding looked like a blast and you looked gorgeous!!! I'm visiting the Royal and other resorts in May to make my decision for my wedding. I can't wait to read your review!
  20. For my work as a dietitian, I treat women with GD. It's definitely a serious condition, but, it can be managed if you follow proper diet and exercise and check your blood sugar regularly. In some cases, insulin is needed, but, not common. Also, it usually goes away as soon as you deliver. But, your chances of getting diabetes later in life is about 60%. I always tell my clients that if they maintain their healthy lifestyle adult-diabetes can be avoided or delayed. Let me know if you have any other questions, I can probably help!
  21. I'm actually one of the few people who LOVE to run!!! Everyone that I know thinks I'm insane. I usually run 35-40miles per week and I've done 7 marathons in the past 4 years. I did the NYC marathon last November and I'd say that one has to be the best one! Anyone considering doing a marathon- thats the one to do!!! But, you only get in by lottery, so, it's kinda difficult. Anyway, there are literally millions of people watching you...you feel like a celebrity...it was truly the biggest high! I would also recommend the San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon...did that one 3 times...it's got a very cool vibe and very dependable weather (perfect for running).
  22. Yes, I heard that too about Sunday weddings in Mexico. I'm thinking of starting the festivities on Thursday night and getting married on Sat.....people can choose to come any length of time, but, I'm thinking most will do Thurs-Mon. Plus, I think the airfare is cheaper if you leave on Mon.
  23. Thanks for this post. I am going for my site visit next month and EDR was on my list. Already, Valeria has told me that she might not have time to meet with me during my only visit there before making my decision. That alone has made me think twice, but, now with the new policy...i'm not even sure I want to consider this one anymore.
