  1. Some do take 6 month+, it totally depends on your designer. Most dresses can be rush ordered if needed, but you'll pay a premium. Personally, though, mine will be in just under 3 months...so like i said, it depends. dress shopping is fun - get out there and do it!
  2. WOW - what a wedding day! CONGRATS!!! I love your dress...you looked beautiful...and the shoes - so fun! Despite the mishaps, it sounds like a wonderful wedding and what a great story to retell!!!!!!!!! Woo-hoo congrats again!!!
  3. Found this thread too late...hope it was beautiful! Has anyone else used an acoustic guitarist on the beach? wondering if it was easy enough to hear the music over the wind, background noise...thinking of having a guitarist play for our ceremony... TIA
  4. For work showers, group gifts are definitely the way to go. If that's not an option, I'd get a gift card ($25) to the store where she is registered.
  5. If you're renting a restuarant or having a beach reception, it can only be from 6:30-10:30, so I wouldn't think you'd want to schedule your ceremony at 6:30 and cut into that time. I agree with the other ladies about that time of year...5pm seems perfect.
  6. I'd never heard of this website before...i LOVE it...thanks!!!
  7. thanks ladies...i'm not going to stress in the meantime...i'll just get my butt to the gym
  8. so i ordered my wedding dress yesterday. i was so excited! now i'm a bit stressed out and hoping someone can put my mind at ease... my bridal shop didn't have my mori lee dress (actually no shop in a 100 mi radius has a sample of my dress...i found it when shopping up in CT) so they had to measure me to figure out what size to order. my measurements were just a mite smaller than the size 8. the shop owner thought i looked closer to a 6 so she put me in a mori lee size 6 dress (not mine) and it was no problem to zipper up, but was a bit snug in the middle. i plan to lose a bit of weight in the next 3 months (7 mos until my wedding) so the shop owner said we should go ahead and order the dress in a size 6, so we did. well, today i was at a shower and told the girls about my dress ordering experience and they all made me really nervous about ordering the size that wasn't a perfect yet. i would understand if i was already very fit and it'd be hard to lose more weight, but i'm not in the best shape - even at a size 6 I have plenty of extra padding everywhere! i know myself so I don't think i'll have any problem losing a few pounds (i have me some pretty damn good willpower when its necessary) and also figure the dress can be let out an inch or two if worse comes to worse...am I wrong should i be freaking out about this Updated: sorry, i'm a dummy and forgot to give the link to the dress since i know you'll want to see it! 9. thanks ladies...using the Vit E oil now so fingers crossed
  10. i ordered my wedding dress today! I didn't want to start a new thread because i don't have pictures, but I'm so excited I had to post about it somewhere!!! the only thing i'm worried about is that they ordered it in a size 6 (i'm a STREET size 6, but dresses tend to run smaller)...they measured me and checked the designer sizes and should have ordered an 8. But they thought my measurements were so close to being a 6 that they had me try on a size 6 dress by the same designer as my dress since they didn't have a sample of my dress in size 6...anyway, this other size 6 dress was definitely snug, but it zipped and i was able to breathe OK. since i plan to lose some weight anyway and they said ordering the smaller size would cut down on alternation costs, it made the most sense. so now i just need to lose about 5-10 pounds to be really comfortable in my dress, which shouldn't be a problem because it doesn't come in until end of Sept and my wedding isn't until Jan. But the pressure is definitely on! anyway, i'm excited! woo-hoo!!!
  11. Random title, sorry... A friend of mine is having her baby shower tomorrow. She & her hubby are the nicest people you could ever meet and they tried for YEARS to get preggers. They did ALL the treatments and procedures and just when they were feeling like they couldn't try anymore, they got pregnant. Anyway, I've written a nice note in the card with her gift, but wanted to add a little quote or something about motherhood or good things coming to those who wait. Anyone have any thoughts? TIA
  12. so this is odd, but its no surprise to me since i get hurt or hurt myself somehow everyday...i'm a total klutz. ANYWAY, i was giving my cat a bath this evening and he wasn't into it at all. i was cradling him and he FREAKED and scratched the shite out of my neck and chest. i didn't think anything of these scratches, just welts and some blood, no big deal. but when FI saw, he freaked and said they'd scar. now i'm buggin because, damn it, i'm wearing a strapless wedding gown in 6 months and i don't want scratch scars all over my chest. SO...any good suggestions (other than neosporin, which i've already applied) to help heal up these scratches and prevent scarring? TIA!!!
  13. ooooh, i like the make you own idea! that's great!!! thanks for the suggestions!
  14. wow...talk about suspense! i'm happy you're happy. thanks for such an entertaining day ladies!!!

  17. OK...4 hours...that should be enough time to accomplish my shopping trip, give my kitty a bath, make dinner, then settle back with a glass of vino and await the results...i know you're all very jealous of my excited Friday night plans

  19. hahaha...the grocery store is like FI's own personal hell, he can't even come in with me when i just have a few things to pick. if its not people stopping suddenly in the aisles so he almost crashes into him its getting lost wandering around or feeling pressured when its his turn at the deli meat counter...its actually pretty freaking hilarious to see, but i love him too much to put him through it with this trip. i'm just glad i'm not the only one who freaks out a bit about entertaining.
  20. ok, just caught up and first things first: andrea, i hope everything works out the way you're hoping for secondly, i'm LMAO i wish i was computer savvy enough to add an andrea time clock so we can all keep up with the time zone you're in so we know when you'll be POAS-ing looking forward to hearing the results!!!
  21. we're having family in town for the next week or so and i'm totally AR about the house being perfect and there being plenty of snack food around and having all the meals planned...i love having people over, but i totally stress myself out. anyway, i just did all my food planning and made my grocery list and i'm totally freaked out...i have TWO pages of legal pad paper full of groceries that i need to go pick up, its just ridiculous and the thought of actually getting in the car and going to the store and probably needing two carts for it all is too much for me right now so i'm just sitting on the porch screwing around on BDW and chain smoking until i can summon the energy and courage to tackle this shopping trip. anyway, just hoping i'm not the only one who feels this way sometimes...!
  22. We're planning to hang paper lanterns in the SG for our reception, we're just going to skip the lighting part...more for decoration to incorporate our wedding colors than for lighting. But to answer your question, YES they do make LED powered paper lanterns so I think they'd be the best option.
