  1. Paul Schrank (see above) did my video. I've watched my 3 minute Highlights video about 20-30 times. Honestly! (I think I'm going to watch it now). He made it easy for me since it's available online I also got the full length video. I showed it to my best friend (who sadly wasn't there), my grandparents (also not there), my parents (who were there but wanted to relive the moment) and I've watched it myself 2-3 times alone (so yes about 5-6 times total). The great thing about a DW is that the ceremony is usually short (mine was 20 mins) so it's a nice quick video to watch. Not like a 1 hour church ceremony. If you can't afford a great videographer like Paul (really, try to. I know it wasn't in my budget either but when I saw his work I just had to have him) then at minimum get one of your guests to videotape the ceremony. Just know that the footage will be shaky and the audio probably not that good. But it's better than nothing. You will really enjoy being able to re-watch it. You may only watch it once immediately after the wedding (unlike me!) but you will probably really enjoy watching again in 20 and 50 years from now.
  2. From what I have heard (general consensus, not my personal opinion) the Dominican is quite a bit more dangerous than Mexico, because it is not as developed. In Punta Cana, it is not recommended that tourists leave the resort, unless on an organized tour. In Mexico (I'm talking Mayan Riviera / Cancun for example) you are pretty safe to hop in a cab and go visits some ruins or other sites on your own. Don't get me wrong, I've been to Punta Cana and I will go back, but I will always be much more careful than in the tourist parts of Mexico.

I went to their website and right on the top in red they have a warning about mexican travel and are offering no fees for people that want to rebook. To be honest I am pretty nervous for any passangers and especially the young or old. Any body have any other thoughts? Our very own SGBrown started a thread here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41426 There is lots of discussion in that thread. I suggest you discuss it there rather than here.
  4. congratulations on your April Fool's Day wedding! I was married April 1st last year. I was the only BDW bride that day. I wasn't surprised I was the only wedding at my resort that day too. Not a lot of people want to get married on April fool's!
  5. And these: 20 cylinder vases – 12$ I used these for floating flowers in water and also for my table numbers (put a tealight inside and it looked beautiful with the candle lit!). I am too lazy to measure them (unless anyone asks me to) but I’m guessing they are 8-9” tall and 2” wide.
  6. Also want to add: 6 bottles sunscreen and one bottle gradual self-tanner – 3$ each All are unused (obviously). Bought too many for my guest gift bags. They are all Life brand (from shoppers drug mart). There is one bottle kids SPF 50, four bottles SPF 60 and one bottle SPF 15. Expiry dates are: kids SPF 50 = Dec 2009, SPF 60 = 1 bottle December 2009, 2 bottles February 2010, one bottle March 2010. SPF 15 = April 2010
  7. Thought I would bump this old post, as all these items are still for sale, except the bouquets which have sold.
  8. Okay I just reread my message above and realized it could have been interpreted that I was bithing. I was only teasing. Guess I should have put a smiley face in there. It's so easy to misinterpret written messages.
  9. I agree with the advice of asking to see several examples of complete weddings they have shot. I notice most photographers don't post this on their site. My photographer did. In fact she posts pretty much all the photos from every wedding she shoots. So you know really really well what you are getting. But I know most photographers just have a selection of their best images on their websites. Then people expect that all their photos will be that good, when in reality only a very small number of their photos might be and the rest might just be average.
  10. Okay ladies, there are so many of you back in the past few days, where are your reviews! I know, I'm impatient! But trust me, if you put it off too long you won't do it. Look at Neen, she promised us a review after her wedding in January, she kept promising it but it's been 3 months and we still don't have one (which is sad, because I know she planned so much and her wedding must be amazing. I still have a glimmer of hope that she will write one). Anyways, although it may be a busy time for you newlyweds, there is no better way to give back to this forum that helped you so much then to write a review for future brides!
  11. awesome photos Denise! Wow, I wish Moments that Matter was working down there when I got married (they started shortly after that). I'm curious, how much did you pay for their services? They are very good, but they are also new to the area and probably didn't have much business yet when you booked them so I'm curious if you got a great deal.

Don't make your review an attachment, members need points to open attachments. What you can do is write it on your computer (in microsoft word or whatever software you use) and then copy and paste it here. But rather than putting it in the thread you should start a new thread and call it something like "WiscounsinBride's Dreams Tulum review". You should post it in this sub-forum (the section of the Best Destination Wedding forum that is specifically for reviews) Wedding Reviews - Best Destination Wedding Forum (that way not only Dreams Tulum brides see it, everyone will. Plus it is easier for future brides to find it if it has it's own link rather than being lost somewhere in this ginormous thread). To post pictures, you need to get a account with Photobucket. You upload your pictures to your photobucket account, then under each picture there will be a link (there are actually 3 links, you want the last one) and copy and paste the link into your thread. The images will show up in the thread, even though the photos are actually located on photobucket. If you have serious problems doing this you can always email me your pictures (send me a PM and I will send you my email address) and I will do it for you. Another option is to use any other photo website (picasa web album, snapfish, etc) and provide the link for the whole album. If you do that, the photos won't show up directly in the thread, it will be a link that brings people to another page to go see your photos.
  13. wow, I can't believe we have 4 brides that just got back on the forum! This is great, can't wait to see all your pics and read your reviews!

The travel agent said people may not be happy with such a small resort and there may not be much to do at night. I was so excited about my choice but she kind of has me bummed out. Have you read some of the numerous reviews posted on this site? They are very positive, I'm sure it will help you feel comfortable about your choice, everyone always has a wonderful time at Dreams Tulum.
  15. Ida that is definitely creazy and unfair of them to have changed the price from 6$ to 12$ to 18$! They need to get their fact straight about these prices. Perhaps the outside vendor is the one who changed the price (as they have to rent these) but it still seems ridiculous that it changed twice and is now triple the original price.
  16. For those looking for info about food quality, try reading some of the recent reviews (i.e. like last 6 months or so) I know some brides mentioned what they liked and didn't like, many of them aren't here anymore. Also you can try searching this thread for the word "food" or "meal" or "appetizer" and see if you get any comments that people didn't post in their reviews.
  17. Rachel I'm so sorry to hear you are disappointed about your video. Hopefully the videographer will re-edit and only charge you for shipping. That's what seems fair to me. Can you ask one of the mods to post that info in your review as an update (on the first page, so that people see it). Future brides are always asking questions about photo and video (and more and more lately, food!). I want to make sure they can find your comments in the future.
  18. no I don't think so, it's just a cheap jewelry (i.e. "costume jewelry") store, I guess it may be Canada only, but once they were sold out they never got more (I checked for a few months)

That being said, I currently wear my band on my other hand. I LOVE my ering and I felt like adding anything to that finger would take away from the ering. Also this way I didn't have to get a matching band. But I assume eventually I will move the band over to the ering, when I am older and tradition takes over! (or when I get another special ring to wear on the right hand!)
  20. welcome Alysa and congrats on choosing a resort! Has anyone else heard of Aurora? Is she a new coordinator there? You should check out the bride list on page 1 and send a private message to any brides getting married around the same date as you.
  21. am I the only one who has never heard of green been casserole before?
  22. Yes a few other brides tried last fall and had problems. Happy to hear my review is still helping future brides!

If you check out some other areas of the forum, (the general area) there is a big thread where everyone posted their songs.
