  1. Oh, and I just noticed you are from OP! That is where my DH is from! So, I can tell you it is really cheap and easy to get from MCI to Jamaica via Memphis on Northwest.

Our Kansas family wasn't able to stay for the whole week because of work issues. We actually offered 2 packages a 7 night and a 4 night. The 4 night from Kansas City was $1400 per person including room, airfare, taxes, etc.

  2. Our wedding was at CSA. Most of our guests had never been to Jamaica or stayed at an AI, though I would say that most of them have traveled quite a bit.

The positive response was overwhelming! I know that we didn't have as many guests as I would have liked, but I think that happens with all DWs, however the ones that came said it was the best vacation they have ever had.

I think a big reason for that was the ease of everything. If you wanted a sandwich, you walked to the counter to get one. If you wanted a cocktail, you stick a flag in the sand and someone brings you one. Want to go on the Catamaran cruise, just sign up. It was so nice to never have to pay for anything, try and keep track of a wallet, or worry about leaving money/valuables in the rooms.

I believe the cost really did even out in the end. CSA has amazing food, good drinks, and TONS of water activities, which were important to our group. I had a cousin go snorkel everyday! We went to Margaritaville one afternoon and for a cheeseburger and 2 beers it was $35. At that rate, you'd be spending about $100 a day per person on food & beverages!

All in all we paid $2225 per person for a week. We went with the free wedding package. I would guess that we spent less than $5000 on the wedding aspect - including attire, flowers, gifts, and OOT bags for 30 people.

Check out my review in my siggy. There is also an everything Couples thread in the Sandals/Couples sub-forum. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

  3. This is probably blasphemous to the Twihards, but I just don't like Kristen. She's OK as Bella, though not who I pictured or would have cast. But something about her eyeliner or something just irks me. I thought she looked like hell at the MTV awards. Some people can have a funky style and pull it off. I don't think she is one of those people.

As far as her being with Rob, who knows. I think you would have to form some kind of relationship with someone you worked that closely with and kissed all the time on set. I think it also depends on your personality. I have a very affectionate bunch of friends and we kiss hello or put our arms around each other and it's not a big deal, we just have that level of comfort. With the shooting schedule the cast probably doesn't have a lot of extra time to spend with a SO.

I haven't really read anything other than the tabloid headlines so I can't really say if I think they are a secret couple.

Does anyone know if they will make the other books into movies? I thought I read somewhere that they were going to film them back to back, like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings because of ages, etc.

  4. It was really eye-opening. I cried through the whole thing.

Showtime Official Site :: Schedules :: Program Details :: Trinidad

A doctor who herself has undergone genital reassignment surgery and is now a leader in the field, has opened a practice in this tiny CO town and has unintentionally made the town the sex change capital of the US.

There are extensive interviews with patients so you get to see the whole transformation. The townspeople are also interviewed, with mixed reactions. Some are upset because of their personal beliefs and ignorance while others have learned acceptance and are even grateful for the economic boom the clinic has brought the town.

    It's definitely worth watching.

  5. Yael, I will watch any dance/cheer movie, anytime! I love Center Stage, though I haven't seen the sequel - Center Stage 2 (catchy title). I am secretly a 14 year old girl.

After the movie is over I proceed to prance all over my house and realish in my bad-ass dancing ability.

I actually know the whole routine at the end of dirty dancing. My friends and I used to practice it.

    I'm a dork. It's ok, I've accepted it.

  6. That guest dancer girl had mannequin (sp) hands. It really freaked me out. The whole time she was standing there iwth Cat, she didn't move her hands out of dance pose. Weird.

And the guy had too many clothes on, ha ha. Not that I wanted to see him naked or anything but the big overcoat seemed to hide his moves. Maybe he was hididng a beer belly? In general I wasn't a fan of their costumes. Her skirt looked like a balck plastic garbage bag.

When I compare it to other tangoes, (Chelsea and Josh) it was not so bueno.

  7. It is making me sad that someone has to go every week! LOL

Based on what I have seen so far, I don't know who I would want to send home. I mean Tony was an obvious choice but he IMO is the only one. The ballroom people don't seem to go as far as the others, especially the guys, so that leaves Max and Auska, LOL But, I think it is hard to do a solo is a style meant for pairs. And because ballroom is to technical, I don't know that everyone appreciates what is going on. It's much more fun to watch hip-hop.

  8. Yael - I hope she doesn't reproduce anytime soon. Someone that self centered has no business having a baby. After the meltdown over the lable being taken off her shampoo bottle or whatever, can you imagine the first time a baby throws ups or poops all over her? Actually, that I might watch...

  9. I was sad to see Tony go, ONLY because of personality. He's a cute kid. I think Paris is really talented and she was just on a sinking ship.

The judges had a really tough call because it was such a good show, no one was really bad. I think they were a tad upset at letting Paris go because of the way they explained the decision. To me they said that of all the Contemporary dancers, she wasn't the best. Implying that they kept Auska, even though she had a bad performance and iffy solo, because she is great at ballroom.

I can't wait for next week!

  10. I agree. What a brave soul.

I just watched a really interesting documentary on Showtime called Trinidad, about this very issue.

I hope that these people can help shed some light on a very painful issue and that seeing the personal struggles these people face can help create more understanding.

  11. I LOVED last night's show! So many of the numbers were really good. I was honestly surprised with it being the first show.

I think that Tony and Paris will probably be in the bottom. You never know, people like hip hop so they might squeak through.

Askua and Vitolio? didn't do much for me, but again I think it was the choreography and lack of personality they put into it.

I do worry about Ashley and Kopono with the jazz routine. I really liked it, but I think a lot of people might not get it. Wade Robson does some weird stuff! Remember the Fox in the Hole number he did for Lacy and Sabra? But then again he did the hummingbird routine with Hoc and that was one of my favorites of all time.

I think if it comes down to a dance off, Tony will go home from the guys. I don't know with the girls though. Paris did a great job. Askua was the worst, but I think overall she is a better dancer.

I do have to say that I like that they paired the dancers this year. If I remember correctly, in years past they picked partners randomly like they do styles. Evan and Unitard need to be partnered because they are both so tiny. (PS I think Kat is like 9 feet tall and always wears 6" heels)

  12. DH says he doesn't like the show but he sits there next to me and watches and offers commentary. LOL

I DVR it so I can FF thru the commercials so I think that helps. He was freakin out when Natalie danced. SHe was screaming at the tv "she's going home! she's off!" This is a boy who has never danced a day in his life.

  13. I think it was almost unfair to those returning from last year because they had such high expectations for them - Brandon, Natalie, tap girl (can't remember her name)

I was trying to figure out who the 20 would be based on my unscientific reasoning based on style, ethnicity, personality

I really like Tony. The thing with him is that he is so tall, he hasn't gotten control of his body in different choreography styles, knowing his timing for full extensions, etc.

Just a guess but I'll say...and it would be much easier if I knew all of the names...

    Boys:

    Tony - hip hop

    Phillip - popper

    Asian Ballet Dancer from Miami

    Brandon - contemporary

    Maximus? - Latin Ballroom

    Evan - Broadway

Ryan - Evan's Brother - Broadway (also adds to the story line)

Pono - the Hawaiian Contemporary guy

    the African dancer

One other guy that kinda looks like Danny from season 3 but I don't know his name

    Girls:

    Asuka - Latin Ballroom

    Kaitlyn

    Jannette - Latin Ballroom

    Paris

Crap I forgot who the rest of them were. When they were lined up last night I had them all picked out!

Sorry, this was a crappy post not knowing everyone's name! LOL BTW, I hate that they do so many interviews with people who don't make it. I think it gives the ones who do an unfair advantage because the audience has gotten a chance to "bond" with them from the beginning.

Does it seem that there is a lack of hip-hop dancers? It seems like everyone is contemporary/jazz/lyrical. I know that a lot of dancers are cross trained but don't mention it, but I don't remember any other styles that really stick out from the solos.

  14. I am slightly obsessed with this show.

I love Mia, even when she is mean. SHe is the first to say she loves to cut people and she only wants those that are serious, not time waters.

I was really sad to see Natalie go. I was surprised they didn't give her a second chance or dance for your life kinda thing.

I think they kept Kaitlyn because she was prettier.

DH and I were talking last night and they do have a sort of pattern for contestants. Last night one of the judges even said "he'll be good for the show"
