Don't book your wedding through RIU PALACE!!!!
Maura replied to Sophia's Mom's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
wow, so sorry to hear they yanked you around like that. besides the fact that my FI didnt like AI resorts, i didnt like all the rules about where our guests could stay and stuff, which is why we went with a non-AI. i'm sure your new WC is going ot do an excellent job - she wouldnt have taken your business on if she didnt think she could do it. good luck with everything and let us know if there's anything we can help with. -
i'm going to be there for 10 days and i am bringing about 15 outfits, because some of the days, i know i will just veg at the pool so i can wear something super casual, and then at night i will need a dress to go out. or for the couple times we plan to take a day trip during the honeymoon week, i will need an extra outfit.

here are the dresses i got at target: then i bought this from the jcrew final sale yesterday:

Need advice B4 I do something stupid
Maura replied to nikkianddean's topic in Just venting or funnies
nikki, i mean all this in the most loving, rational way, so please dont take this as any kind of attack. my MOH is my best friend from college. i know her parents well. they're divorced and each remarried for 15+ years. the divorce was somewhat amicable. i didn't invite either set of her parents - we were trying to keep the guest list small and we even excluded inviting some family members like cousins we aren't close to. plus it wasnt like i could invite one set of her parents and not the other, so i just didnt invite anyone. we were tight on space. we originally only wanted about 30 guests, and now we have about 60. the capacity of the restaurant we chose at our location is basically 60 people. if we have any more people, we may have to move our reception location, which i am adamantly against. her parents arent key players in my life with my FI. she totally understood because she did the same thing with her wedding 2 years ago. i dont think she really owed you a heads up...it IS her wedding and she can invite (or not invite) whomever she wants. Maybe she doesn't feel as close to your parents as you feel to hers? Maybe she feels pressure from her FI's family to invite more from their side and thats why your parents didn't make the top 200 cut? who knows. all im saying is, the guest list for someone else's wedding is never our choice no matter how much we want it to be, or how much we would like the extent of a courtesy invite for our parents. just because you and I have the sense to do it doesnt mean everyone does. are they paying for their wedding themselves? are the parents paying for it? i just see so many scenarios where inviting a friend's parents arent a priority to someone. i think it's good that youre going to talk it out with her, but remember, you are a guest at the wedding, and you dont get to make the guest list. -

hmmm i may have to call you this week to discuss fake eyelashes LOL maybe i will try them out next weekend. damn i was just at target twice yesterday (2 different ones! - go check out the august brides thread to see what i got!)
-
actually this is kinda funny.... the whole reason why i tried this out for you guys was because yesterday when i went to my dress fitting, my seamstress was telling me how another bride of hers started alli the same week in february that she ordered her dress, and the girl's wedding was last weekend. her final alterations were about 3 weeks ago -- she ordered the dress in a size 16 and when it came time for her alterations, she had to have her dress taken in two whole sizes and a smidge more in a few places like the underarms. my seamstress liz was telling me that the girl told her that the couple times she ate over the 15 g of fat in a meal with the pill in her system, she got "sick" and that was enough to keep her from doing it again -well liz wanted to know what she meant by "sick" and she told her she dripped so much grease it was like a faucet! LOL so i thought why not just eat a couple grams over and see what it does. worst case scenario i spend a few hours dripping grease from my butt, and i end up like this girl who got her dress taken in 2 sizes LOL

i actually love them, i kinda want to do fake eyelashes. not sure i would withstand glue on my eyelid though. or at least the application part... did you post anything about your eyelash trial? how did it go? was it expensive? what kind did you get?
-
wooowoooo - i was wondering when you were gonna change your username! and for the record, i'd recognize those eyes any day!
-
ok so i went a little crazy at target yesterday... but in my defense, i only spent $120 for all 6!

BDW Biggest Loser Season 2 Official CHAT thread...
Maura replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
i had the HARDEST time with motivation until it finally hit me that my dress alterations are in a month and that's the latest they can go in order for me to get my dress back in time. i went on alli last weekend and have been eating well, and tomorrow i start working out again. my goal is to work out 4x a week until my wedding in just over 6 weeks. (cardio only 3x a week, light weights 1 day so i dont gain muscle mass and then a little cardio too). i dunno why, but i feel like i just didnt take losing weight that seriously until it started to get down to the wire. -
alright so for all you wussies out there, i played guinea pig and purposely took an alli pill and ate over the 15 grams of fat at dinner tonight to see what would happen to me. i knew i was staying home and doing nothing, so it was not like i had anywhere to be. i DID experience "treatment effects" -- however, it was SERIOUSLY no big deal... it was like a little gas, and right before i had it i could feel it was slightly different than normal so i went to the bathroom and (sorry TMI) some grease dripped out. THAT'S IT. nothing else happened to me. no stomach cramps at all, no shitting myself. it literally just looked like olive oil droplets about the size of half a dime in the toilet. not that i would do this again, because now when i fart im afraid it will be greasy so i go in the bathroom when i feel some gas coming on for tonight. but on a normal basis when i know im staying within the parameters, i never worry and never experienced any problems whatsoever. and these treatment effects i'm having tonight, let me reiterate, are seriously no big deal. no pain, no cramping, no explosive shits, just a little grease dripping. and tami - if you want more info for how alli works, i suggest you go to alli ? weight loss program for healthy weight loss. it does not suppress your appetite - it controls how much fat you absorb in your diet. it can also cause a vitamin deficiency which is why you need to take a vitamin everyday before bed at nighttime. its really important to do it at night because overnight while you sleep the vitamins can be properly absorbed into your system because you wont have any alli in your system for the next 8-10 hours after you take the vitamin.

i'm going to target this morning after my dress fitting to see if i can find some of those cute tube dresses - hopefully i find some stuff so i can post pics later!

my earrings came in the mail the other day from the custom jeweler who designed them for me! here's for the august wedding in cabo: and here's for the civil ceremony: i have a pic of the BM earrings too but photobucket is going really slow this morning for some reason. i will post when it finally uploads. the designer is so nice, she even threw in a free pair of earrings *which just happen to match my shower dress* so now im thinking i might wear the same dress to my 2nd shower that i wore to the first one because i have these cute earrings!
