  1. This is what I heard back from Xcaret. Sounds like a person can not travel on a wheelchair to ride the boat through the jungle. Too bad, that sounds like a fun way to see the jungle without walking. Here is the reply: Dear, Thank you for your preference to our natural wonder Xcaret. The park is not 100% accesible to all clients in wheel chairs, many areas can be reached only by stairs or narrow roads but 60% of the park can be visited in a wheel chair. Not a boat ride. Special wheel chair rental $15 USD for the day From 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Best regards, Customer Service
  2. I'm glad you started this post. I was feeling the same way. I knew I didn't want a band, but I was still unsure if that was the right choice. I guess I could always go see what they can pair with my ring & see if I like the way it looks, but I'm pretty sure I'll keep it how it is.
  3. I've noticed most brides in the forum wear a formal gown, even though the groom & guests are casual. It looks great. I knew I wanted a casual dress, but I didn't know how casual. I tried on some really casual white cotten dresses & didn't feel right. I found something dressy enough that I feel fancy, but still very casual. I love that short, silk jcrew dress. I really like all of the dresses you picked out. They are the balance between dress & casual I was looking for. Have you tried stuff on? I think that helps get an idea of what you want.
  4. $180 sounds high to me, but I had no idea. Well, now you can feel like you got it for a bargain!
  5. Its about $180 on amazon. How much is it in Mexcio? Amazon.com: Los Cabos Baja California Sur: Books: Claude Vogel Thetion Here is a cheaper book by the same photgrapher Amazon.com: Baja California Sur: Books: Eduardo Becerrill Corssen Cecilia Vazquez Vogel,Claude vogel Thetion
  6. Yeah, I was looking for sites just like that. I think I searched up to page 12.
  7. Use the macro setting on your camera to get a good picture of your ring. One my camera the button has a picture of a flower.
  8. Oh, I mean if you don't have a wedding band. Do you just give him back the e-ring to use for the ceremony?
  9. Aqua Quest: "Cenotes of the Riviera Maya by Steve Gerrard Cenotes of the Riviera Maya Home, Steve Gerrard I only found this one RM coffee table book. Its about snorkeling & diving in the cenotes (sink holes) in RM. It sounds like a great book. I'm still going to look around.
  10. I've seen people make a photobook of their engagement pictures (like the kind you order from shutterfly) and have guest sign that. I really like the coffee table book though. I'm going to look for a cool riviera maya book.
  11. My ring is a round solitare with a thin band. I love the simplicity of it & I don't want to wear a band with it. I also wanted a really thin band because I don't like wearing rings. I don't want to double the thickness by adding a band. What do you do during the ceremony? Take off the e-ring?

  13. I cooked for a glass of milk because life is too short?
  14. I 2nd (or is it 3rd or 4th) the nomination for Jason & Karen. Their reviews of activities in RM are great!
  15. Why would someone feel the need to insult teachers? Maybe he was a bad kid in school & was always in trouble with his teacher. I do scientific research now, but I substitute taught junior high while in college. It was exausting! I think most people respect & value teachers so don't let this one guy upset you. I don't think some people realize how much work teachers take home or events they attend after school or on weekends. The 2nd grade comment is absurd too. What a moron.
  16. Who is this Morgan? I did it too! I also paid to upgrade my name to green!
  17. how do you change your user name? I'd rather be Morgan something instead of mlb36.
  18. I thought it ws capital 1 that didn't charge the fee, but I wasn't sure. One thing to know about capital 1 though is that they only report the credit you are using, not your available credit. It can hurt your credit score because it gives you a worse credit/debt ratio. Also, you can't use a discover card in Europe. You can use it in Mexico, but its just good to know if you are heading to Europe. Now that I know this, I'll try to use my Discover in Mexico to pay for trips.
  19. Great! You said the couple who would've missed it is a lot of fun so it will be great to have them there. I think the main thing is to set it in stone now so you don't have to change again. Then you will be stress free!!!
  20. Yes, the 1-3% fee is definitly better than the exchange rates you'd get at the airport or train station. I think there is a capitol 1 card that doesnt charge a conversion fee. Its pretty standard though, thats why I'm so surprised they removed it. The fee isn't a big deal if you are just paying for a few things on the trip, but what do people do when they are paying for big stuff for the wedding? 1-3% could make a difference.
  21. I think the difference would be if they billed you in pesos or dollars
  22. Most of them charge a fee, but I thought it was usually 1-2%. I heard you can asked to be billed in dollars when you use a CC. I looked into this a bunch before going to London. For that trip, the best thing to do was to get money out of the ATMs. We actually paid no fees & got a great conversion rate. We used credit cards for gas once because we were running out of cash & did get a 1-3% fee. I'm surprised you got it removed. What did you say? Does anyone know the best way to pay in mexico? When I was there, I brought some cash. I paid for an excursion with CC. I don't think there was a fee, but this was 8 years ago. I think the fees are more recent. We couldn't find a single ATM with money it in, so I could never get more. Luckily I found a $20 on the bathroom floor. We didn't get any pesos. I don't think its necessary.
  23. Is this it? Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve Sian Kaan Home I couldn't find prices on the site. Do you have an idea of how much it would be? It looks like a great place. I love how eco-friendly the area is. I'd like to find something closer to Puerto Adventuras (between Akumal & Playa) if possible. Thanks so much everyone for ideas!

They take you on a boat through the canals in the jungle that were carved from the mangrove by the Mayans. You get to see all types of birds, fish, possibly crocodiles and sometimes even manatees. There is an option to float along with the boat for part of the tour. I can dig up some contact info about that if you want. That would be about the only option for a boat tour of the type that you are looking for. I just saw that one little picture of a river & thought there was a huge river flowing through the jungle. I have not been to RM, just cancun. I have also just begun my research into the area, but I plan on being an expert before we go:) I'm not planning the wedding, just the adventures. I have found your reviews to be really helpful, so I'd appreciate any suggestions you have. I will look up the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve. Do you think Xcaret is worth the money? Not necessarily for my grandma, but just in general. I wonder if its better to hunt down lesser known places than to go to Xcaret. I looked into the Hidden Worlds park you posted on a different thread & it looked like fun. Did you also say you were going to Aktun Chen? If so, how was it? Opps, didn't mean to hijak my thread & switch the topic away from gramdma friendly places. I am just so excited for all the adventures in RM!
