  1. what is your email I will send them to you right now. Thanks so much.
  2. I just received an email from Chandlyn regarding flower centerpieces & arches with pricing. I cannot figure out how to post them here. Can I send them to you so you can post them for all of us Sorry I can't even figure out how to put the ticker on my profile. I seriously spent hours trying and I have given up now!! hehehe
  3. Your awsome!! I was so exicted to find out the pricing. I don't understand how you get such fast replies from Chandlyn!! I am so glad we have this site I get more info from here then I do from the resort. I wish they had one big package with all the information you need. hahaha (that would be too easy.)
  4. Great thanks for that info. I don't know what I would do without this site!! Do you happen to have any pictures? Is there more than one menu for the plantation?? Chandlyn only sent me the one. Would you mind posting it??
  5. I can email you what she sent me but there was only an attachment about the menu. Let me know if you find out about the dance floor. Are you talking about the plantation restaurant??
  6. I am having my wedding on the Thursday. Our flight is suppose to leave Saturday so I figured it would be best to have it it 2 days before the end of our trip.
  7. I don't really have any plans for when we get out there. The first night we will have a mixer with all the guests just so everyone can meet and mingle. Other than that most of the people coming out are thinking of it as a vacation as well as a wedding so I don't want to make too many plans. Just as long as they come to the wedding they can do whatever they like for the rest of the week. We will probably go to the falls and invite who ever wants to come along but I don't want anyone to feel pressured to come along if they don't want to. We will have a rehersal dinner as normal but it is only about 15 minutes long. I think it will all fall into place once you get out there. No need to stress the book will just give you ideas. We are just doing a dinner at one of the specialialty restaurants after the rehersal with our wedding party and parents. It is easy then you can go for a few drinks after and relax.
  8. I booked on-line at the Riu Site. You can call and talk to the lady who does the booking for the Riu chain. She is in Mexico. I can't remember her name but I think it is on the website along with her phone number. They are really helpful with questions. Once you get your confirmation number you can email Chandlyn for questions. The fee for booking is free but if you cancel it is 250 US on your credit card. They take your number when you book. I am flying out of Canada so I wouldn't be flying with the same airlines as you. There are a few brides on here that were thinking of doing the reception intertwined with the beach party. Sounds like fun to me. I am not doing the traditional dance and all the other little things you normally do so we are just renting the plantation then going to party at one of the beach bars. Have you decided on the Riu Ocho Rios then??
  9. Thank You. I think I might have to be out there to decide which one I want to go with. We are going a week before the wedding so at least it gives me time to get all the little details in order before. I wonder what the price is for the nicer ones? I want to get married on the beach but we need wheelchair accessibility so not sure what spot will accomodate that.
  10. I have been to DR twice. Both times I went to Punta Cana. I must say that is where I orginally wanted to get married. It is so georgeous out there. First time I went I stayed at Riu Taino. It was a great resort. No complaints. Very good food, your rooms are seperate little houses all over. Awsome staff. Would go back in a heart beat. I never saw a wedding take place but they did have a big gazebo that looked nice lit up at night. Second time I went I stayed at Breezes. We watched about 5 weddings on the beach from big to small ones. They were all everything i hope my wedding will be. (In my opinion) I wasn;t right up close as I didn't want to intrude on anyones special day but we watched fom a ways away and they were so beautiful. They braid palm tree leaves to make an arch on the beach. I did meet and briefly talk with the wedding co-ordinator there and she was really nice. I am getting married in Jamaica but I thought if any of you wanted to get married in DR but were having a tough time deciding you should definaltly check out breezes or Riu Taino. Breezes is a 4 star but the 6 person group we went with were all really impressed with this resort. If you want anymore information feel free to ask.
  11. Did you figure out how to post the pictures of the arches?? I have the one coconut arch that comes with the package but I am really not interested in that one. It looks too plastic. When I was in Dom. Rep last year we watched a bunch of weddings on the beach and they braided real palm tree leaves. It was incredible and looked so beautiful. I wished they did that at the Riu resorts.
  12. I just received this email from Chandlyn in response to my questions. I was wondering about dancing in the plantation as well. See below Hi Natasha The Plantation is confirmed for February 08, 2008 from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. The Plantation can be arranged for dinner an dancing at either the Upper deck or lower deck of the restaurant. Please see attached set ups.Centerpieces are at an additional cost. Kinldy see the basic semi a-la-carte menu that we offer at no additional cost. With dinner is served red & white wine, sodas, beer and juices. The Spa can be contacted at [email protected] Regards Chandlyn
  13. That review makes me feel great about my decision. It is so hard to pick when you have never been there. I occasionally get my doubts. Trip advisor also has many great photos of the resort. Many of them are the same over and over but it gives you a good idea of what the resort has to offer.
  14. That is great!! I was worried when Chandlyn sent me the pictures of the first ones that were all carnations. The flowers at additional cost are georgeous. I was thinking for a tropical place they would have to have more then carnations. Thanks for getting the info on that. Does anyone have any idea what kind of additional cost it is for the nicer bouqets?

Chandlyn sent me an email with flower options but they were all carnations. I wish I was better on the computer I am not very good at posting pictures. I would love to get the neat little ruler at the bottom to show how long until married but I am useless on the computer. hahahaha

Oh, and I have 3 emails from Michael from Photoshop, though someone else started a thread about the photography at Riu Ocho Rios - here you go: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ices-pics.html Perfect!! Let me know what she says about pricing. I am much happier with those arches then the one I originally saw. Thank you so much for posting those!! I emailed her about 3-4 weeks ago and still nothing back. I am just going to re-send my email. Hopefully she will get that one. I had more luck when I called her on the telephone.
  17. I would love to see the pictures my email is [email protected] thanks so much!!
  18. So if we booked the plantation do we still need to pay per person for the menu
  19. I am so glad I am not the only one!! Chandlyn hasn't gotten back to me on much either!! We are getting married at 1:00 on February 7 '07. I think it will give the guests time to get a drink and some lunch in between. No different then having a wedding here. Usually you have that couple hours in between the ceremony and reception. Wow 80 guests that is alot of people. I can't wait for the menus!!
  20. I have an email form Michael- the photgrapher. He sent me quite a few pictures of his previous weddings. I can foward his work to you if you send me your email. I am curious of flower and arch options as well. Have you seen anything?? I emailed Chandlyn but didn't get much help. I don't know everyone says she emails back right away but everytime I email her I never get a reply. I am really nice when I send emails!! heheehe
  21. That review was great!! I have been on the fence about my decision to get married at the Riu Ocho Rios but I feel better now thank you!!
  22. I am wondering the same thing. I have booked the plantation for dinner. I have 60 guests going so far and have no idea of menu options or any options for that matter! hehehehe I have emailed Carolyn but for some reason she never gets my emails!!
  23. Thank You!! I am from Aldergrove, British Columbia. It is so nice to be able to talk with other bride to be's.
  24. It is so nice to have a site like this. I felt so lost planning a wedding at a place I had never seen before. I read many of the reviews and it has made me feel a lot more at ease. Can't wait to chat with all you brides!! I am getting Married February 7'08 in Jamaica at the Riu Ocho Rios. I am so excited!!!
