  2. Hola and happy planning in advance! The Royal Playa del Carmen is a terrific venue and they have a great wedding coordination staff. Definitely hook up with a coordinator, it may be a long way away but the time will go quickly!

Thought I would share some of our recent photos from Royal Playa del Carmen weddings, hope they inspire!

  3. I had my engagement photos taken in Playa Del Carmen by Del Sol Photography and I loved how they came out.  You can see some of my photos if you click on the link below in my signature.  They are great photographers they are also doing my wedding.

  4. Hi ladies, I got some of my photos back from Del Sol and I thought I would share! :)

It took about 8 weeks but it was definitely worth the wait.  The photos turned out amazing!!

The USB drive with all the other photos is being couriered this week so I am excited to see all the rest.

Sol and Jorge were our photographers and they were so great.  I would highly reccomend Del Sol when choosing a photographer.  They are a little more expensive but I am so happy we decided to splurge on the photographs because my memory of the day is not very good due to excitement and adrenaline and Del Sol was able to capture moments and things that I had forgot about or missed.

Here is the link to my album:

Hola @@shmanderz thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your big day, you are a gorgeous bride and it was great fun! Thanks for sharing the photos, big hugs!

  5. Hello Dreams Riviera Cancun planners! This is a fabulous venue for weddings, from a photographer's perspective we love the architecture and the area options for ceremonies and receptions. The gazebo is totally unique. It is totally possible to get great photos without strangers in the background (though sometimes those are the fun shots!) Maracas are a great idea for gifts, such fun to have an alternative to clinking the glasses for a kiss. Many brides do their OOT bags here in Playa del Carmen, there are souvenir shops everywhere but Walmart is a good bet for all your needs, sunblock, keychains, kitsch, whatever you need.

Here are some inspiration photos for you, enjoy! Please peruse our blog posts for Dreams Riviera Cancun weddings too!

  6. Hi tygrrlily, I think it depends on what the resort makeup artists can offer. Ask him/her what sort of makeup they will use on you for going in the water. If cost is an issue, try purchasing your own cream based makeup.

Take a look at a few of these videos to get an idea of what different drugstore makeup can do:

I would suggest to try these products out on hot summer days to see how they last with sweat and then go swimming with it to see how they hold underwater. Hope this helps!

On a side note, I booked with Sol at Del Sol for my TTD session and I CANNOT WAIT!!! Del Sol was one of the main reasons why we chose our wedding at Riviera Maya. My fiance and I fell in love @ first sight with her TTD sessions. She is one uber talented lady!

We're so looking forward to meeting you!! Good advice on the waterproof makeup if cost of a pro is an issue. :)

Sol's sister Sara does a great job with makeup, she is a true professional and of course we love to work with her at ST Makeup Artistry. :)

  7. What is the best way to prepare for your trash the dress session?  Simple hair and make... go natural? I'm on the fence about the whole thing. Is there a way to clean the dress? And, would my dress dry out enough to take it home?

We definitely recommend hiring a makeup artist that understands how water affects the makeup. Hair down looks fabulous underwater, as do veils! The dress will be just fine, we call it "rinsing the dress". :)

  8. Hola wedding planners! "Trash" is such a harsh word, we prefer "rinse", haha. Even better, as the Brits say "Rock the Frock". The cenotes here are fresh water and generally the dresses come out cleaner than they went in (after the wedding the hems are often dirty from walking around, wine stains, food stains, etc..). Many brides bring a different dress (or dresses!) for the shoots. It is a great way to have an adventure with your new husband/wife.

Here are some of our recent trash the dress photos in the Riviera Maya...

  10. In Playa del Carmen the most "famous" chapel is Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Your best bet is to work with a wedding coordinator who knows the ins and outs of working with the parrish and who can assist with details such as decor, etc.. (Have a look at all our Del Sol Photography Riviera Maya church weddings).

Here are a few of our photos from the church...

Other options that are outside of Playa del Carmen include Amarte Maroma, Xcaret Park and Capilla de Santa Maria del Secreto.

    Happy planning!

  11. Joyce gave some great information, the Mayan ceremony incorporates rituals and mythology specific to the Maya heritage while the cosmic or spiritual ceremonies are more "universal", calling to nature and the universe to bless the union.

  12. Gorgeous!! Although, if I can ask a stupid question... what do you do with the dress after it's "trashed?"

    Hola Lianaflower!

Most of the time, the dresses are not "trashed" at all! We prefer to say "rinsed". The water in the cenotes is crystal clear and clean, often the dresses come out better than they went in. Wedding days sometimes lead to the hems of dresses getting dirty from walking around and we find the water cleans them right up. Most hotels will have dress cleaning services to have them cleaned and pressed properly afterwards. You won't even know it was "trashed". :)

    Hello!

So you are saying that photographers have exclusivity agreements with the locals that manage the cenotes? My friends are professional photographers and will be doing the shoot. Do you have this agreement for most cenotes? We were going to scout out spots when we get there the first day and find a spot....

Not necessarily "exclusivity" agreements, but working arrangements with some of the "off the beaten track" cenotes. If you are going scouting, I recommend looking around the area south of Playa del Carmen, there are a lot of great places around the Barcelo Maya area. :)
