  1. Directly from our handbook: "Absences must be reported to the Executive Director. Administrators must call extension 2102 at least two (2) hours prior to their scheduled time on duty if they are going to be absent or expect to be late. Failure to call in advance will result in an unpaid day even if sick time is available. Administrators must also call the office by noon if the absence is to continue. These procedures must be followed to determine eligibility for paid days."

Just a polite exterior is all she'll be getting from me from here on out. 6 more months........... I'm only here for 6 more months...............I can do it. Maybe.
  3. I'm sooooooooooooooo PISSED right now. Here's the background of the situation: This is my first day back to work. I've been off for 4 days. I have 30 days of time off for this year, I've used 1 so far. I did not call work at all since I left on Friday for my surgery. I emailed a few co-workers, including my assistant, who helped get my work done on my days off. I checked voicemail every day and responded to things from home. I have obviously NOT been myself. I went for a massage on Weds and told my friend at work about it. I mailed out my wedding invitations on Saturday which have just been sitting in my apartment, ready to go for two months. My boss calls me into her office this morning when she came in. Tells me the way I have been acting this week is immature. Continues to say it is company policy to call when I will be absent from work; this I know and I thought she'd be a little bit understanding with my situation. I explain that I have been avoiding all phone calls, from friends AND family and have been unable to communicate really with anyone this week. I have left my apartment a grand total of TWO times in the past 4 days. I am very depressed. I am dealing with BOTH the death of my father and the death of my baby. Then she tells me I was very close to being let go after my actions this week. At this point I'm crying (WHICH I HATE TO DO AT WORK, ESPECIALLY IN FRONT OF MY BOSS) and pleading my case that I was not capable to communicate with anyone, which I why I did not come into work this week. My work got done; nothing happened while I was gone. She says to me 'you should hear the chatter around here. About you going for a massage and getting wedding stuff done.' and I say 'yes, I got a massage. My friends got me a gift certificate to help make me feel better and yes, for one hour I was able to forget about everything.' Then she tells me that I am NOT getting paid for the 4 days I didn't come into work this week. I again argued (between sobs) that I could not call in; I was literally unable to. That I was not ready to walk by babies at work and work very closely with 2 pregnant women. She just repeats again that my time off will be unpaid and that I was VERY close to being let go. I am such a fool to think that she would be AT ALL understanding about this matter. Oh, and let me just say that I work for a very small company - there are EIGHT of us here - it's not like this is a huge, multinational organization! It's f-ing child care for crying out loud!!!! I'm so mad. And angry. And upset. And I just can't freaking believe she won't let me use the paid time off I do have for this. Am I over-reacting or is she a CRAZY BIATCH?!?!?!?
  4. I don't have time to sift through all of the pages, but we discussed this in the Photographer thread under Jamaica forum. We got in writing that it is fine, providing that (1) your photographer IS a guest at the hotel, and (2) you may have to pay a fee to 'break the contract' with Photoshop ($200 I think??) I'm on my way out the door to work now, but if I have a chance later I'll try to find it for you! PS- Plus Michael at Photoshop KNOWS the Sungold photographers. I think he'd be more likely to meddle if it's another photographer from Jamaica who he knows to 'look out for.' Have you considered using a US photographer? We're using Robin DePaula and she has a great special right now!
  5. Congratulations! Hope you have the perfect day.
  6. Happy Birthday Lizzy; you deserve the perfect day! Thanks for your kind words and support the last week.
  7. CONGRATS!!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you return & of course to see those pics!

  11. Dear self, You really do have to go back to work soon. Just pretend you don't see all of the babies you have to walk by every day; and just pretend all of your coworkers aren't pregnant....

If I'm looking for a low impact tour (I have alot of older guests coming), do you know if they would they be able to recommend or constuct a seightseeing, shopping and lunch excursion? Chukka Caribbean is only the Canopy Tour & Bob Marley (though they offer a lot more!). They're all different vendors; most seem to include round trip travel in their packages. Just go to each of those websites for more info. I actually just researched all of this; so it's not just somewhere through someone. I went onto tripadvisor.com and looked up the top tourist activities that had good reviews & ratings and went from there.

  19. I think this sounds fun; a little concerned with my address being available to everyone though. If we figure it out, I"m in!
  20. FYI, I just scheduled a massage for tomorrow afternoon. I cant wait.
  21. WOW!!! It's finally here! Have a WONDERFUL time!!! I can't WAIT to see your pictures!
  22. We did find some of the prices. Actually, Lizz ended up finding some Jamaican florists that we are allowed to use (with no additional cost) in place of the resorts which are much cheaper. We have a whole thread about it: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...apher-riu.html It's a long thread, but all the Riu flower options are in there; mostly bouquets but some arrnagements as well. Plus, Lizz gives the contact info for the other florists.
