  1. TammyM: My FI only saw pictures. I'm not that superstitious, plus he won't remember in a year from now!!!! He has a good memory but not when it comes to women's clothing!! I do appreciate everyone's responses. Interesting how #2 (the most expensive one) isn't so popular!!! I liked the beading on it, but again, I haven't tried it on to really know.
  2. Wow. Talk about fast replies. You guys are awesome. Most of you are agreeing with my fiance!! Yes, please picture all of them in lilac, not red!!! Thank you. I will have to try on #3 again and see what the seamstress has to say.
  3. What is the verstile band? I don't see it as a choice on the adventureweddingspv.com website. I was contemplating the mariachi band however there is a 2 hour minimum and I am afraid that would take up most of the reception. Does anyone know how long the reception lasts? How was it possible to have two different types of music? Don't they all have 2 hour minimums
  4. Would you say that the Mayan Palace is more expensive than Dreams? I am debating on Dreams or Las Caletas for my wedding. Where exactly is Mayan located? Downtown by the malecon, marina, etc??
  5. Is that Roberto guy the same one that shoots pictures at Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta? Maybe they only have the same first names and I am thinking of someone else.
  6. Matt, I am officially addicted to your website!!! Wonderful photos. Where is Lake Martin located?? Just curious.
  7. That's what I heard from Starchild. It's the boat director. Wow. That seems to good to be true. Good way to save some cash. Now for a more technical question that you may or may not know. My brother is an engineer and you know how those minds work!! He wanted me to find out what type of plug is used for the Ipod. Is it a plug that plugs directly into the bottom of the Ipod or does it need a 1/8" phone jack?? Of course none of what I wrote made any sense to me but maybe you or someone else more electronically advanced may know!!! thanks again!!!
  8. THANK YOU!!! As far as the IPOD/music,who controlled the Ipod? Did you assign one of your guests?
  9. Thank you for your response. Now I'm going to bother you once again!! This time I will number all my questions to make it easier for you to see and respond. I do appreciate this. 1. For some reason, I can only see your ceremony pictures and the bed. I can't view your bouquet, jacuzzi, dual shower, centerpieces, sitting area. Maybe it's just me. 2. Did you write your own vows? 3. Did you have to pay extra to have 7 people go over early? 4. Would you recommend the sand ceremony? Which is better? Sand or hand? 5. Did you get a copy of the officiant's speech? I noticed that your mom posted it and it looked word for word. 6. What hotel did you stay at (it sounded far away!)? 7. Where did you purchase the rose petals? 8. Did you use the petals for the aisle as well as the tables? 9. Did you need to buy a 120V adapter for curling iron, etc? 10. How did you choose your bouquet colors? Does Nicole have pictures? 11. Did you steam your gown? Where? 12. Did you have special sandals made? 13. What was in your OOT bags? 14. Were you able to taste the different cake flavors on your site inspection visit? I was wondering what the Tres Leches cake would taste like. 15. Did you bring your own guest book? 16. What exactly did you need to bring to use your Ipod? 17. And lastly, did you sweat a lot?!!!!! I just know my makeup will run all over the place!! Lindsay, You are truly great to share your story and advice. Thank you so very much. Marla
  10. I looked on the knot sites but I cannot view the photos. All I see is a small box with a red x inside. I tried to click on it various ways but nothing happens. So frustrating because I am dying to see the honeymoon pictures of Bora Bora!! Is anyone else having the same problem
  11. Lindsay, Everything is absolutely beautiful!!! Can you please describe the second to last picture where you and your hubby are holding what looks like a fan with various titles on each. Were those the programs? How did you make them? They look very original and different. Thanks again for all those pictures. Oh, one more thing: Did you purchase the video? Is it on DVD or VHS? The package I saw on the internet looks like it is a VHS unless it is upgraded to the 'video photo clip' for an additional $75 where you get 2 DVD's or VHS's. Also, is it just played to music or are there words as well. I watched the short clip on the internet and it was played to the song "My Girl." Thanks a ton!!!! You are so helpful and kind to all of us!!
  12. Thank you!! I now have to figure out if I want a DJ or the whole Ipod system. I'd leave my brother in charge of that one!
  13. Okay, this may sound cheesy but I just love that sound from the movie Ghost. I think it may be called Unchained Melody? Does anyone know the name of the song and the artist
  14. How did you listen to the music selections? Did you have to download something first? I think it's called RealPlayer. There is a 14 day free trial but I hate to give out my personal information. I'll end up forgetting about it and being charged!!
  15. As for your songs, did you bring them on an IPod? Did you have the traditional "here comes the bride" song? I was thinking of maybe having the mariachi band do that but I'd like to know how it will sound!!! Thanks
  16. Is that a purple colored shell ring pillow I see in your photo gallery? Please tell me where you got that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Would you mind giving me the name of the bridal salon in Novi? There aren't too many around here. I was going to check David's Bridal in Flint since they sometimes have 'deals' but no, I have not begun to look!!
  18. Thanks Lindsay. Did you have a videographer as well? I am undecided. I have a lot of relatives that could tape it for free! Is it difficult to navigate your way back to the bathroom at the bridal suite when it's dark? I assume you can use that bathroom as opposed to the regular guest bathrooms. Did you pay for additional hours for your reception? Is it really necessary? I don't want to feel rushed. Also, do you go back on your own private boat or the one with the tour group. Did you change out of your gown? I gotta make good use out of that thing ya know Thanks again and I look forward to more pictures. You definitely need to blow up the one with the fire dancer and put it somewhere everyone can see!!! That is quite the picture!!!
  19. Anyone have suggestions for a good face tanner then? I will try the booth again for my body but not my face!! Simply doesn't work. Plus, more wrinkles that I don't want or need!!
  20. Brighton. We are practically neighbors. I am a high school teacher in Flint, MI. Good thing you like to ski because it's awfully cold. I can't wait until the 50 degree warm up next week. How sad is that!!
  21. Hello and welcome. I am also a newbie. I by no means want to scare you but please check out Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor and read some of the posts there about that resort particulary the wedding reviews. You may have to search the forum. Most of the reviews are great but there is one bride that just returned last month who I have been personally emailing and her story is pretty bad. I don't think she'll mind if I give you her email address. I can ask her if you'd like. It just totally scared me since I too was planning a wedding at that location. Plus, the wedding coordinator, Chandlyn, seems very hard to reach. Apparently there are numerous weddings throughout the day and she is very busy. Have you started planning yet? I would love to hear your thoughts about how it is going and if you contacted Laura in Mexico yet. I was told she was the main coordinator for all the RIU resorts and you had to contact her first for information before getting together with Chandlyn. Is the RIU resort the one in Ocho Rios?? I forgot there are at least 2 others in Jamaica but I'm sure they are handled the same way. I think I am getting married in Mexico. I've gotten very quick answers to all my questions. I like to have things planned and ready before I get there. Jamaiican time is a whole different mindset. I am going to Negril in April for vacation so I will at least have a feel for the island. I can't wait!! Didn't mean to scare you but be careful esp if you are not getting all your questions answered in a timely fashion.
  22. I hope I am posting this in the correct location. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to choose thread or new thread but here's my sappy story anyway. I planned a Puerto Vallarta vacation for my then boyfriend and I over Christmas 2006. The very first night we got in was Dec.26. I already arranged a nighttime cruise called Rhythms of the Night at a place called Las Caletas. You board a catamaran around 5:30pm. It takes about one hour to get there. By the time you arrive, the sun set and the 'island' (actually more of a privately owned area that resembles a remote island) known as Las Caletas is all lit up with tiki torches and around 1,200 individual candles. No electricity there (well, very limited--generators for the cooks). Breathtaking to say the least. After exiting the boat, you walk down this long walkway surrounded by 'natives' playing various instruments and welcoming everyone. There are individual two person tables set up everywhere on the beach and on various levels (there are lots of cobblestone steps) along the beach. There is a yummy buffet with tons of food, wine, desserts, etc. Towards the end of dinner, I noticed that John was acting a bit strange and I started getting this strange feeling, that something was about to happen! (AFTER ALL, I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 9 YEARS!!!). However the waiter kept telling us that it was time for the nightly show in the outdoor theatre so John and I heading in that direction. Well....before we got there, John wanted to 'look' at the ocean. Okay, the feeling is back now and my gut is telling me this is it. We walk down toward the beach, no one around, pitch black, the sound of beating drums in the background and waves hitting the rocks in the foreground, and..... John gets down on one knee!!! Can't even remember exactly what he said but I did get my sparkly heart shaped ring!! Hope you enjoyed my story as much as I've enjoyed reading others. We are thinking of going back to that exact location for the wedding as well.
  23. I was also considering having a professional apply one of those spray tans with their fancy equipment. I did it once before and it lasts about 4-5 days. My only problem is that I would want to do it maybe 2 days beforehand meaning I would have to find a place in Puerto Vallarta!! Is anyone worried about their tan wearing off on the wedding dress!!! That would be horrible esp with me sweating in the heat! I have to do something though and tanning beds just don't work for me.
  24. What a nice touch. I guess doing both the sand and hand ceremony would be a bit much. How did you decide? Lindsey, Your dress is beautiful. Did it end up getting filthy from all the sand, etc.? I was against the long train until I saw yours. Ann, Thanks for the points!!! I'll catch on one of these days.
