Suit or No Suit

Most of the men wore capri length shorts in the evening or when they were out and about. I don't think he would look out of place at all. -
Suit or No Suit

I agree with Anny, the white would be more classic and clean looking. I think a tan jacket, blue shirt and red flower might look too busy. -
It may be an issue with your monitor. I noticed a while back that when I would have photos printed at a lab, the color balance was always coming out different than what I created in Photoshop at home. The problem was my monitor. I ended up buying a monitor calibration kit to get my monitor setting to where they should be. A quick check to see if that's the problem for you would be to open the file on a different computer and see how it looks. If the colors appear different, its your monitor. A less likely cause would be the interaction between the software you are using to print from and the printer. When I print a photo at home straight from photoshop it usually looks different than if I print from the windows photo viewer that is integrated to windows. Forgot to mention also......... Did you calibrate the printer yet? It probably pops up automatically, but maybe not.

Edited. I looked at his gallery and he is not bad. Seems a little inexperienced and maybe he is offering a deal to try to build a portfolio

In defense of Jill and Jonathan and whichever photographers spoke up about this topic, I think they were just looking out for everyones best interest. Not once did any of them say not to use the $1 guy or to use them instead. Getting a good price on wedding photos is important to most of us here, but we still have to be careful. Its real important to know up front the costs of everything including hourly rates, print prices, web viewing time limits, copyright ownership, etc. So far Jill and Jonathan have been more than helpful with everyone and very up front about their business. The photographer you choose should do the same also. Unfortunately for Karen and I, our budget is very low. If we could afford it, I would fly either one of them down here to shoot our wedding. They have absolute top quality work at very good prices relatively speaking. I have read many threads where both of them were giving praise for the photographers other people chose and even helping people choose a photographer while they knew they would not be getting their business. The $1 thing may be a good deal, or it may not. Before all the numbers are in for final costs of prints, albums, negatives/digital files are in, its too hard to say. I have to agree though that it is a little shady to use such an obvious bait and switch advertising method. Wedding photography is a business, and that photographer would not be doing it if they were not being paid for it. My main point was that the final cost of the package would most likely end up at a level somewhat equal to most other packages from other photographers.

Suit or No Suit
lambert13 replied to SPRINGBRIDE's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I am wearing a light linen suit for our ceremony. At first I wanted to wear a short sleeve shirt and pants for the ceremony, but it gradually morphed into a suit. One suggestion is to bring a suit along with you just in case he feels like wearing it. I dont plan on wearing a tie right now, but I am still bringing one just in case. -
Moving in with Future Husband
lambert13 replied to soulmates's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Karen and I have been together for over 2 years and we just moved in together a month ago. So far it has been great. We did do some talking about our expectations, responsibilities and such before we made the move. And we always talk about things instead of letting any issues build up and become resentments. Plus it helps us to save more money for the wedding as well. Our biggest hurdle is integrating my dog with her two cats. It is going to take some time, but even then I am sure they will end up loving eachother. I say we are doing pretty damn good if our biggest issue is how our pets are getting along. -
For restaurants right around the GORM there are a few great options 1. My favorite... Lucy's Tacos. In the small commercial center near the beach in Akumal. The absolute best shrimp tacos, empanadas and homemade ice cream in the world. Cheap cheap cheap too. Lunch for two of us was under 10 dollars total. Its just a little tiny building with no indoor seating. Plastic tables and chairs on a patio to sit at and eat. 2. Loncheria Economica. Lunch counter in Akumal right near Lucy's. Amazing food for dirt cheap. This place is no frills also, but the food is good enough that it doesnt matter. 3. La Buena Vida. Right in Akumal also. They actually have indoor dining there also! That is something I usually avoid on vacation but thankfully they have a beautiful outdoor area as well. If you guys have a rental car, Tulum Pueblo has what in my opinion is some of the best hole in the wall places to eat. The main drag through town has some great spots, but the side streets have some real hidden gems. If you haven't already, consider buying the Can-Do map of the Riviera Maya and the one for Playa Del Carmen also. Those maps are worth their weight in gold. Unbiased reviews and prices of just about every restaurant and attraction down there. Karen and I found some great restaurants because of the reviews on the map. And yes, we are foodies! Fortunately, we appreciate churros from a street cart as much as we appreciate fine dining.

Are you going to be in a certain area, or all over down there? Some quick recommendations though: Playa Del Carmen Babe's Noodle Bar- Casual type place with awesome asian influenced food Alux - Restaurant inside a cave that turns into a low key bar at night. Decent food there but the cave setting is the real draw Playa del Carmen Restaurants Soliman Bay: Oscar Y Lalo's - Great beach front Restaurant. They filmed some of the corona commercials at the beach here Akumal: La Buena Vida - Great beach front restaurant. Very good food there La Lunita - More delicious beach front dining. You can have a table on the beach under the moonlight if you want. Akumal Restaurants Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. If you have any specific things you are looking for or locations, I would be glad to give some more detailed advice. My favorite places are the hole in the wall types that Gringos usually dont go to, but I know my way around the nice places also.

Biodegradble Sunscreen?
lambert13 replied to SheaS's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Mexitan has 2 oz bottles of the biodegradable stuff Mexitan Products So does Sunshield SmartShield Suncare - Product Catalog Neither are exactly cheap, but they are good quality lotions. The biodegradable lotion is great for using in any water environment. The standard sunscreens affect the reef and ecosystem in the ocean regardless of where you are. -

Pre Marital Counseling?

I would also recommend the book "The Hard Questions" (can't think of the author....its on Amazon.com) its "100 questions you should ask before getting married" and it is a phenomenal book! I use it with all my pre-marital couples and Matt and I have started it also. Its a real eye-opener sometimes Karen and I were reading that book yesterday together. She picked it up a while back and has had nothing but good to say about it so far. -
I know what you are talking about. But, think of how much worse it could be if everyone wanted to go and you had to tell them that you don't want anyone there with you. That's my fun-filled situation right now. I think you're taking the right approach though with it being an open ended no-pressure invitation. They all have to be responsible for whatever decision they make.

Chances are that the cost of prints, albums, etc will add up to about the same cost as a regular package anyway. It would be like a restaurant advertising free food.........but you have to pay for waiter service, drinks, napkins, silverware rental, etc. If the photographer is good, it may be worth checking out. But, don't expect to get something for nothing.

Wedding date dilemma
lambert13 replied to PaulaV's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Karen and I got engaged in Dec. 06 and are planning a July 07 wedding. Getting a wedding together for just the two of us in a 7 month time frame is difficult enough. Incorporating guests would make it much more difficult. Take your time and do it without rushing if you can. There is enough to stress about anyway, no sense in adding timing issues as well. -
And we are almost at the 100 day mark! With a slight change in our travel plans to make time for a night in a beachfront cabana south of Tulum like we did last year. No electricity, no TV, no sound except for the ocean.

Since we are meeting up with our photographer while we are in Cancun to get our CD's and DVD's I was going to suggest that we meet at a restaurant and we pick up the tab for dinner. Since it already seems from the emails back and forth that she is a real easy person to get along with, it might be a fun night.

Translating and Authenticating Documents
lambert13 replied to bride2be's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Where are you planning on getting married? I am not positive, but I think the different states in Mexico may have different regulations. We are getting married on July 4th and our wedding coordinator wants us to send the documents to be translated to her by mid May. It has to be a state certified translation and I guess it takes a little bit. -

My brother who is in the Air Force just moved to his new base in Lakenheath, England with his family. Quite a good change from McGwire in central Dirty Jersey.
