  1. I'm a little confused about sending some of my thank you cards. We ordered special postcard style cards w/ pics of ourselves in black and white. I'm not sure if I should send these for the following situations: Wedding gifts that were given as Christmas gifts: many family members gave us stuff off of our registry for Christmas My mom: she has given me several "wedding gifts" at this point. Everytime I go home she has a little gift for me I feel like I should send thank you's in these situations, but should I send our special "wedding" thank you's? If so, they would probably be receiving these cards more than once. Thanks ladies!
  2. I got my dress at Macy's in Chicago, and I also had a great experience. The SA listented to exactly what I wanted, and almost every dress she showed me was exactly my style. She made the experience easy and fun. I would definitely recommend them.
  3. Yes! I still hadn't chosen my canapés, and Mara sent me a completely new list. I would assume this doesn't effect our entrees which were already chosen from the past version. But, at least my new list looked a lot better.
  4. Has anyone used the spa at the Hilton? I can't seem to find too much info on it.
  5. It is swimmable; however, when I was there everyone was in the pool.

  7. What type of information did you include in your invitations? We are doing our wedding/ceremony both at the Hilton Los Cabos. Should I include a map for those who are staying at a different hotel? TIA

Also.. I was just wondering.. because I'm in Chicago too.. the picture of your place looks just like my sister's old place on Wellington.. That would be crazy if it's the same place! I'm on Kenmore in Lakeview. That's so funny, did your sister have a three flat? That's what we live in. A lot of them have the sam layout.
  9. I know we are going to do some pics before the ceremony, but the majority will be after. I wonder if we should start earlier as well.
  10. I'm sure that is shy Mara is suggesting this time as well, which is important. But, I hope we have plenty of time for dancing!
  11. What time did or is everyone having their wedding. Mara at the Hilton said 5:00 or 5:30. How much time will this leave for after dinner dancing? I am worried because we can only have music until 10:30 p.m.
  12. I actually found my dress at Macy's. The sales assistant there was fantastic! All I told her was the location of my wedding and that I wanted something light. I tried on about 7 dresses and all of them were exactly what I was looking for. It was a great experience. I also went to Nicole Miller on Wells. They have great stuff for destination weddings, and the prices are much lower. I also had an appointment at White Chicago which I have heard great things about. I ended up cancelling because I knew I wanted one of the dresses from Macy's. Hope this helps!
  13. Yes - the ceviche is for cocktail hour. I need to pick 2 other canapés as well, so I'd love to hear any other Hilton ladies opinions. I'm thinking about guac and maybe something with fruit?
  14. Future and Former Hilton Brides - let's talk about food. I am in the midst of planning our menu and would love to hear what others are doing. Here is what I know so far Canapés - Ceviche, and ?(I am looking for something light and maybe vegetarian) Salad - Tomato and Corn Salad Entree - Guests will choose between the Beef Tenderloin or Veracruz Style Fresh Fish Other comments - all of the salads I tasted were great, but Bill really loved the tomoto/corn salad. The Cucumber/tuna canapé was great, but the ceviche is awesome. I also tried cheese and olive skewers, but was unimpressed.

I've been trying to think of a personal way to remember my dad on my wedding day. I like how the charm is subtle, but with you, just like you said, as you walked down the aisle.
  16. Interesting. So I've heard good things about Jennifer on the forum. Was everyone happy with the appearance? I had shown the chef at the Hilton a pic of a cake I liked, and he said they had never done anything like it before. It made me a little nervous about trying it. Maybe I should ask who will actually be doing the cake. Also, does anyone know if there is a big price difference between going to Jennifer directly vs. going through the Hilton? I would guess that the Hilton would charge a fee to bring a cake in from outside, right? Time to do some investigating....
  17. Did any of the Hilton brides use the chef there for their wedding cake? When I did my site visit awhile back, we tasted cakes and found one we really liked. But, I am a little nervous when it comes to the appearance. Does anyone have any comments on their cake at the Hilton? Thanks ladies.
  18. I tried on several of the Nicole Miller dresses, and I love #2. It is unique and really bridges the gap between formal and more relaxed. Plus, I agree that the white dresses are not my thing as well.
  19. We choose Cabo for many reasons: 1. We love, love, love Mexico. 2. We had never been to Cabo. 3. All of my co-workers (who are from Mexico) recommended it. 4. It is a destination that is easy to get to from different areas of the U.S. 5. It offers many activities, such as golf, fishing, etc. that will be enjoyable for our friends and family. 6. It's beautiful!
  20. I work in a very small office of only about 12 people. I get along with everyone except 1. Although this person and I don't care for each other, I feel awful inviting everyone, but him. Should I only invite the 3-4 I'm close with or should I invite everyone except the meanie? What do you think? Number of attendees isn't really a factor.
  21. Ok - so I guess I will check out both the Flower Cart and what the Hilton has to offer. Thanks for posting the links to the threads, Janet. I don't know why all of that info didn't come up when I did a search. I only found a few measly comments. Anway, I am also curious - what is WIP?
  22. I did try and search and just found a little info on the Flower Cart, not much of else. Do they have a website? Is there a particular person I should speak to? Also, if there are any other suggestions, I'm open. Thanks girls
  23. Where is everyone using for flowers? I've heard some talk of the flower cart. Is this a florist shop? Do you go through your coordinator or directly through the florist. TIA!
  24. We are meeting the photgrapher in person. It is someone who is reputable according to this forum. He gave a few options for paying including by check, but said he prefers cash. I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever paid like this before. We will probably pay by check. Thanks ladies.
