  1. Congratulations on your engagement! I've always used [email protected] to contact Ada or Yinette. They will be able to send you a document of the available packages. I'm not sure how it works with the complimentary wedding. I booked the Sand Ext. package and confirmed La Brasa for the reception and was never asked the total number of guests I had. Where do you see the 40 person minimum? In the services description or did one of the wedding coordinators tell you so? It could be that their guidelines changes since you last spoke but if you have it in writing I would just go back to them with that email and see if they will honor it. Good luck!
  2. Good luck Lorraine!! Enjoy every second!! Can't wait to hear all about it!
  3. We've booked HDC. They have tons of reviews on here too and their pricing is very reasonable. Happy choosing!
  4. LOL seriously with the people lying under it! I like the other pictures better! haha Yeah, I'm just taking a planning break because we still haven't booked (waiting on a few more airlines to release their flights) and I have NO idea how many people we have because people just ignored the prelim RSVP on my STDs. Oh well- will probably sending invites out earlier now and then I can get myself busy. Next step for me will be dress shopping but I'm trying to lose a few more pounds first. And my MOH wants to do some hair and makeup trials while it's hot and humid here!
  5. Great to hear!! We are so excited to work with HDC!
  6. This picture makes me smile. And remember how much I'm slacking on my planning. Such a good idea to buy this stuff yourself since the resort packages are a bit pricey.
  7. I asked for a preliminary RSVP via our website on mine. They went out about three weeks ago and I haven't gotten much response~ about 5 out of 75 save the dates. I understand there will still be maybes and I'm totally ok with that- I was just trying to get better idea of what size group we were looking at. I'm hoping people will re-visit once they start researching the resort/pricing, talking to travel agents, etc. I also noticed though that only 25 people have even gone to the website! So we'll see!
  8. Do you mean completely do them for you? Or did you already design them and just need them printed? There a number of vendors on here that do custom save the dates and invitations- you should search. I just had mine done by Rebecca (Allurements by Rebecca) and was THRILLED with her work. Sarah of Sprouille Designs is also loved and raved about around here. I'm not sure of anyone that would just do printing/cutting from your own format though. Good luck with your search and I'm sure they will come out beautiful!
  9. Hi JoyA- are you using [email protected]? I believe that's the best way to reach Ada and Yinette. I know the wedding department's email was down recently but I believe they confirmed it was up and running so they may just be a little backed up.
  10. I was thinking that myself that it would be odd to do renovations during peak season! Glad to hear it shouldn't be a worry!!
  11. You are so proactive!! I love it I'm not going to let it stress me out! We'll see what they say and I'm sure it will work out fine either way!
  12. Me too! I wonder if we can contact the hotel to find out.
  13. Oh no! Sorry for your change of venue! I'm sure Melia will be beautiful as well! It's kind of scary though because I feel like renovations rarely run on time down there- I hope all is well by April!!
  14. Hi Akimrey! I have been to both resorts and consisdered both for the wedding. They are both great but so so different so it really depends on what you are looking for! Palladium is HUGE and OB is smaller; both have beautiful beaches, great people, and lots of food varieties. Personally, I liked the beach and the gazebo near the beach better at Palladium but liked the food and smaller atmosphere for the wedding better at OB. The ultimate decision for me wedding wise was just that Palladium's packages and add-ons and such just confused me. I was getting different information from different people and couldn't get a clear idea of cost. OB's packages were straightforward and the wedding coordinators responded to me almost immediately. I don't think you can go wrong either way! Good luck in your decisions and planning! If you have any specific questions about either resort I'm happy to help.
  15. That is a great idea about the baseball caps!! Thanks for sharing!
  16. I think this is a matter of opinion and varies by the customs wherever you live and your own personal feelings. Yes, they are technically included and you are absolutely not REQUIRED to tip. I always tip-- we bring a couple hundred dollars in singles and tip for drinks, at meals, the maid, and for any one who provides us service that we are appreciative of! The way I see it is that some staff go above and beyond to make your stay great and I personally like to acknowledge that. There's no real "rules" on tipping- some don't at all, some do only when they receive service that they feel is above and beyond, and some tip for everything (I waitressed for too many years in college and probably over tip for everything). But it shouldn't affect your service either way.
