Cost for Guests

I am planning a wedding at Dreams Los Cabos in April 2008. So far, we have alot of friends who are so excited to go, but I am concerned about a few people (family included and 1 close friend) who may not have the extra $. We are building a house this year too and don't really want to offer to pay for a bunch of people. I am choosing Dreams b/c I think its the best deal for the $$ for us to have a beautiful wedding + people can have a neat little 4 day / 3 night vacation. For people who went to Dreams, how much did it cost your guests total? I want to be able to give people a heads up so they can save.

Oh (sigh of relief). That is alot less expensive than I expected. I went to a destination wedding one time at Sandals Royal Carribean in Jamaica... We spent $3000 (including airfair) for 2 people for 5 nights. I guess Dreams is a little cheaper.

Yesica quoted me $220 per person per day after April 15th. I am booking 2008 now, but am being offered 2007 prices. This is including the 10 room block discount. Do you guys think this is a good deal? Anyone going with a travel agent to get better deals?

it isnt a really good deal at all...all of my groups are $149-172 per night(per person)...the reason the last one was so high was because the group block was made about 6 months before the wedding...you get better prices if you do your group block 9 months or more before the wedding.

just a note: it is VERY rare that the resort will offer you a lower group rate than a TA...

I am in the same boat. We are at the Hilton, but regardless a destination wedding alone means that guests are going to have shell out significant $ to attend. I just have to keep telling myself that this is just one of the downsides of choosing to have this type of wedding. I'm hoping that with the advanced notice those who are close to me will be there, but being realistic they might not all be able to. But, when it comes down to it, this is the only wedding I would like to have.

I take it you worked through a TA and would recommend it? I am leaning this way.

Tammy is a TA who specializes in DW. A lot of the girls on this board are using her as their TA (including myself). She is just amazing and she can get you great deals. I would highly reccomend using her. smile159.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
