Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Michelle,

I don't know if we can tie the knot on Saturday or Sunday. I remember that I saw a couple tied the knot in the Playa Del Carmen Church on a Saturday last year. I contact the Barcelo hotel's WC and she wrote smth like:

"Please be advised that in order to have a Legal Wedding in Mexico, Groom, Bride and Witnesses MUST be IN the hotel 4 working days prior to the wedding date (Arrival date, Wedding date, Saturdays, Sundays and Mexican Holidays are not considered as working days). "

I hope it helps!

thanks and congratulations!!!!

Actually, I got a new travel agent (my old one was terrible) and he recommended AB because he said it's very "boutiquey" feeling (read: small and intimate) and they only do one wedding per day. He didn't have anything negative to say about it. He said the beach is fantastic, the food is superb, service is exceptional, and they have a good kid's program. That sealed the deal for me! I love the fact that it's small, and should be easy to find my other guests.

It may be a bit more expensive than some of the other resorts, but I honestly looked at TONS of resorts and was so happy to pick AB. I don't question my decision at all.

You'll have to let me know what you think when you get back!!

Ohhh thank you so much! Yes I totally love it. My only problem is that I'm a little TOO generous in the frontal region, so I'll have to do some adjusting with the front to make sure I don't flash anyone. Trust me, it's not something I'm happy about...I feel a bit tarty! smile41.gif

And I'm so glad you re-posted your dress picture. It is sooo beautiful! I love that style.

Awwww, See im wishing at the moment that i was "like you" as im thinking i need "more" to get the full effect like in the pic....

Im sure you wont look tarty at all, you should get some of that "boob" tape thing maybe just to hold it in place!!!!??!! If thats what its called.... just an idea if you really are worried? :-)

Im so glad you like the dress, I cant wait to actually get "mine" I want to get it now but i think im going to wait until we have booked the wedding then order it :-) That will be the next BIG thing i do after the booking!!!!

Thanks Prettypigpig, I will copy and paste some of what was in the body of one of the hotel emails........

I am checking this with them though as i don't understand why they have held a saturday for us if it's not possible??......

Please be advised that in order to have a Legal Wedding in Mexico, Groom, Bride and Witnesses MUST be IN the hotel 4 working days prior to the wedding date (Arrival date, Wedding date, Saturdays, Sundays and Mexican Holidays are not considered as working days).

For a Non-legal wedding, groom and bride Must be IN the hotel 3 days prior to the wedding date (Arrival date, wedding date and Sundays not considered as working days).

In order to book your wedding, you have to follow the next steps:

1. Please choose the date you would like for your wedding.

2. Check the availability with the Wedding Coordinator and e-mail her:

* Wedding date and time

* Type of wedding (Legal or Non-legal)

* Name and last name of Bride and Groom.

* Wedding package.

* Number of wedding guests.

* Hotel where the Bride and Groom will be staying at.

If the date is available, we will put your wedding date ON HOLD. (Meaning that the date and hour is just ON HOLD, NOT CONFIRMED)

3. Once you have a date on hold for the wedding, you will have two months to e-mail us a copy of the Reservation Manifest/Invoice from the Tour Operator (confirmation must include name of Bride & Groom, arrival - departure dates and time, name of Tour Operator Company).

Once we have all your travel information, your assigned wedding coordinator will confirm your date.

There are 4 options of marriage at Barceló Maya Beach Resort:

1) Legal Weddings

It is a Legal Ceremony with a Justice of Peace from the city Hall. They are usually restricted to 3 ceremonies per day; date and the time are subject to availability, and it is the City Hall who will confirm it.

Legal Weddings do not take place on Saturdays, Sundays or Public Holidays.

The Ceremony will be held in Spanish, in this case a wedding coordinator will translate it into English.

I will let you ladies know what they come back with.

Nicyx dont be silly your not dozy! x

Hi 2011 Brides! I got engaged on Christmas and am a bit overwhelmed! We have finally decided on a location - Maya Riviera which was hard enough...but now I have to figure how where the wedding should be!! There are SO many hotel options!!! I definitely think I want a boutique hotel. Does anyone know anything about Ceiba Del Mar. Also, Azul Beach and Maroma look nice too... but the prices are a lot higher than the bigger resorts.

Can any one give me advice on how to get the best hotel rates for guests? I know Travel Agents get great rates on big resorts- does this apply to the smaller ones as well?

I am hoping to do a site visit next month, but want to narrow it down to a few hotels. Thanks so much for any advice you can give me!

Congratulations on your engagement, and welcome to our thread! I would say travel agents or group rates, if you go directly through the resort yourself, would get you the best rates. Don't you agree girls?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
