  1. Hello!!! Well we have just finished our boarding pass invitations & got them in the mail this week. I cannot believe we are less than 3 months from our wedding now!! Here are some pictures along with some tips from our experience. I learned so much from this site & got so many ideas from others on here & I wanted to post ours in hopes this can help other future brides. First I used the Aylee Bits free template. I used it mostly for the shape outline & created rest of the text based on ideas I saw from others' postings. I also downloaded a few free fonts: hibiscus, barcode, & scriptiva. I used Pages09 to do all of my editing. Lastly I created the circle seals in Photoshop Elements. Here are the envelop liners I made. I used the same idea as my passport STDs just repeating the image over & over in a Pages document and cutting it to fit the envelop. We used no-wrinkle glue to keep them in & only needed to apply it to the top flap. The flower is actually the letter 'J' in the hibiscus font which is fitting b/c its the first letter of my fiance's last name. Here are all of the invitations lined up & ready to go! close up of the invites: close up of our seal: All 4 pages fanned out: Here are the document views of the pages. Since I had 4 tickets in the invite for printing I designed 3 tickets per page and printed 51 copies then the Return ticket/RSVP 17 times. That gave us a few extra for errors. We used white standard #10 envelopes for the whole invite & Bar4 for the return envelopes. The return ticket was perforated on either side so the RSVP information could be torn off & returned. It fit in the bar4 envelop perfectly. Lastly, here is my biggest caution: use forever stamps. We had a bunch of left over stamps from our STDs & holiday cards & used those. On Friday we put everything in the big envelopes, labeled & sealed them. I was going to take them the next day to the post office to get weighed & the wedding stamps. The next day, Saturday, it snowed so I didn't go to the post office & on Sunday my mom called & let me know the price of postage was going up 1cent the next day. I checked the stamps we had left over & they were not forever stamps. Therefore we needed to somehow open the sealed invitations & add 1cent stamps to all of our RSVP envelops or they wouldn't get back to us. We searched the internet for 2 days looking for ways to open the envelopes without ruining them & being able to re-seal them cleanly. In the end my dad had a heat gun. We were able to heat up the envelope seals & slide a spatula across to open them, This however killed the sticky factor. so once we added the 1cent stamps to the RSVPs we used a no-wrinkle gluestick to reseal them. This worked so much better than I anticipated. The only things to watch out for were to not let the head gun get to close or stay in one spot for too long or it would burn the paper. Also to be patient- we had to give it a few seconds to heat up the glue, if you rushed it would rip the paper. If you ever forget to put something in an envelope this was so easy to do & once resealed you couldn't tell the difference. I think thats everything. I hope our story & pictures help someone else on here with their own wedding. Good luck! ...now onto the pre-travel pamphlet & OOT bags oye! Kristin
  2. Funny you ask...we actually just finished & mailed our invitations this week. We did boarding passes. I hope to get a post up about them soon.
  3. Thanks everyone for the compliments! These were a labor of love for sure. For the sewing- we made a template for the spacing of the holes and used a pointed tool to mark little holes through the pages. We did this to each whole passport minus the covers (3 pages at a time). Then we used a thick needle (which made the holes a little bigger- enough for the thread) when sewing them. I think they were crocheting needles & thread, but not positive. My grandmother had them on hand. To sew them we stared from the back/bottom & ended out the back/bottom. We left the strings about a half inch longer than the passport. Then we glued the inner page to the cover. Once the glue dried we cut the excess string off & voila!.
  4. My dress just came in for our wedding in April. It wasn't supposed to be in until Feb, but I just got a call about it last week! I haven't been able to get to the store to try it on yet as the holidays are so crazy now. Here is the model picture though. I can't wait to see it in person again!
  5. We are going here for our honeymoon!! We are getting married in a private villa in Cabrera and then going here right after. I'd love to hear about your overall experience at the hotel & see any photos you have. Thanks!
  6. Hey Everyone! I cannot believe I completed my first DIY project for our wedding. We finished our passport save the dates & mailed them out last month. We have been so crazy I am just posting the info now. I used so many suggestions & sample ideas from this website I wanted to give back and share my experience for others to learn from. For starters I used the Ayleebits free template in Pages (on a Mac) to create the documents I also used Photoshop Elements to create the "stamp" images in the background of each page & the magnet. For the covers I ordered 3 custom stamps from www.simonstamp.com and used s silver ink pad I bought at Michael's. The Green covers are metallic card stock & the inner pages are sand colored heavyweight paper. I order all of our paper from www.paperandmore.com. We sewed the pages together using crochet thread I found at Walmart and it matched the color of the inside pages perfectly. Tools we used included paper cutters, corner rounders, a circle cutter, no-wrinkle glue, a laminater, business card sized magnets, removeable glue dots and a thick needle. In addition to the passports we made little magnets with a monogram and included the date & location on them. We used the removable glue dots to adhere the magnets temporarily to the back of the passports. Here are a few photos of the final product: Front covers Back sides with the magnets attached. We made 45 passports. I was so grateful that my 2 bridesmaids, aunt, mother, & fiance were all there to help me get these put together. My dad even helped with the magnets! We pretty much set up an assembly line to get these done. First cutting out the pages & rounding the corners. Then sewing the inner pages together, then glueing them to the outer page/cover. Finally we stamped the fronts & let them sit over night. The ink took a while to dry so we needed to lay them out on a table. Here are the magnet's laid out. We attached them to the passports & stuffed the envelopes on another day. I made the envelope liners by taking the compas image I created & shrinking it down & multiplying it. I got this idea from someone on here & it came out perfect. Front upclose close up of the envelop liners Here is a close up of the 1st page inside. I used the same idea with the smal replicated compases inside & the large one on top. The compass is the same as the one used for the stamp. I found an image I liked on Google & edited it to the way I liked it to look & added a J in the middle. We will probably carry this image through to our invitations & other pieces at the wedding. So because I used Pages to create these I didn't think many people would find the template useful. If you really want my template PM me and I'll send it to you. Instead I have converted the document to images so you can see the rest of the pages. Because of the way the template is set up the page numbers may seem strange, but when you put them together they are in the correct order. For printing- the 1st page (twice on one sheet of paper) I only printed them single sided as the would get glued down to the green covers. The other two pages were printed on the reverse of each other & I printed twice as many sheet as the 1st page. I hope this post can help someone else get ideas or answer some questions about creating these passports as I did when I started out. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have & let me know what you think!!
  7. These look so cute! Thanks for the tip on the fonts. I was very confused looking at the last few templates where the flowers were not showing up.
