Hi everyone! Does anyone have a planning document or checklist that they have used in planning their wedding? I feel a bit overwhelmed and feel like I may forget something huge, and I am definitely a list kind of person! Thanks so much!

Leanna,

We did have to tell my wedding planner - we did the complimentary symbolic ceremony. The minister was a doll too....they hire a minister instead of a JOP for a symbolic ceremony. It was super easy...you just have to bring a copy of your marriage certificate - not even the license. You get a certificate in the states for a keepsake...thats what I made a copy of and brought!

Let me know if you have any more Q's!

Tina,

I was married at 5pm in the Tucan...I will post a full review and photos soon! I have been super busy since I have been back - go figure :)

David Pena was my photographer and he did an AMAZING job - he took about 400 pictures and I loved at least 330 of them!!!! I will post a full review soon - let me know if you have any specific Questions!

She was very good about getting all the information I requested, so I imagine it just takes time to hear back from people on the MP end.
Anyone with Angelica as their planner....let me just tell you - she is amazing! At first it took her awhile to respond because it was a busy time for her (with the swine flu and stuff) but as your wedding gets closer she gets good about responding right away. She was amazing when I was there and for the wedding too. She is really young - probably 25 and on top of it. She gives good advice and is SO SO sweet. Let me know if you have any questions!!!

Hey Avery!!

If you go into the General Wedding Information section, there is a section for Etiquette, Traditions, and To Dos. I found some great to do lists in there!!!

Hi Morgan, Would love to see your reveiw. I have David Pena has our photographer and am looking forward to his photos.

Did you buy a specific package for the 400 photos or was that the basic package that includes the wedding and family/bride/groom for the hour aferwards.

Did you get them all in the JPEG format or did you ask for RAW?

Have you blown any of them up yet? To what size?

I was told they would shoot raw if I wanted but it would be less photos. The only thing is you can do so much more with them and blow them up pretty large.

We were going to have David come back for our wedding party several hours later and shoot the first couple hours. They were going to charge between $800 - $900. We debated this and decide to buy a new camera and lease setup instead. My brother and several friends are pretty good photographers. My brother is going to use the new camera. I hope I don't regret tha decision but already bought the set-up off of Ebay.

I am getting nervous now.....wondering if everything is done and if I have all the information I will need in my portable file. I still need to make a planning list for the WC.

11 days from today, we will be scoping out our wedding site to make the decision on outside/inside?!?!?!?! Heat index yesterday in Cancun was 120 degrees. DOH!! It is looking like inside.

Several of us are leaving very SOON!!

July brides - You all are getting so close! You must be so excited! :) Your posts are certainly getting me motivated!

I'm also stuck with the photographer idea....I have looked at the packages, and I don't see one that is set up with what I want. I would like an hour prior to the wedding for getting ready pictures, the ceremony, and then about an hour afterward. I'm not super stressed about getting pictures at the "dinner" since we are having an AHR at the end of August. I also don't need an album since I'm hoping to put together Mexico pictures and the AHR into one. Hopefully they will work with me.

I sent an e-mail to my on-site (Ana Margarita Jimenez ) with a list of questions and haven't heard back about them yet. I was waiting for a response to send the photographer questions, but am getting a little nervous. I also saw that one of the brides on the forum had her and they said that they didn't see her until 20 minutes prior to the ceremony and that she was new. Hopefully this will be resolved as it is a few months later. Maribel was so wonderful that I think her quick responses spoiled me. I have considered e-mailing her about the photographer situation even though I have been assigned my on-site to figure it out and get it into my file!

We leave in a little over a month!! I can't believe it!

Eureaka, you are just as close pretty much! It's getting really exciting now! I've been waiting almost a week now for a response from Claudia, but I sent her a SUPER long email, so that was kind of expected. I just hope I get an email back tomorrow - I never expect emails back on weekend days because I know she'd be so busy!

Tina, that stinks about the heat index. I really want to have my reception outside. I wonder if we'd have to move our cocktail indoors as well....sad!

Tina - I did the package that did the ceremony and afterward. I got the 68photo package (or something like that) and it was around $500.00. David will shoot a few before you come down, then the whole ceremony, then after. He assured my mom that he would not stop until we got all the shots we wanted. I know if I asked him to do longer - he would have...our session was probably 1 hour and 20 total. When we did our alone photos he got shots that he wanted, I wanted - then asked if there were any more I wanted, etc. We were pretty hot and over taking pictures - so 30 minutes alone was PLENTY! He is so cute...he does not speak very good english - but enough to understand him. He made us do a couple of REALLY cheezy things that I didn't like - but If you are specific he will do whatever you want. My pictures came in jpeg format on a CD. I have blown many up - and my mother in law, mom and sister made copies of the CD at the resort before they left. They have the kodak centers in the gift shops and its cheaper to make copies there than in the states. The resort also blows your pictures up for your album...I did not like all the ones that they chose, so when I got home I blew up my own to replace in my album. They will turn out fine in jpeg. format - don't worry!!!

Buying your own camera to take your own pictures was a fine idea - they will turn out great. Its impossible to not get good pictures because it is so beautiful there....and the lighting is perfect. We had everyone taking pictures at the dinner, etc. They all turned out beautiful!

David wants to break out on his own - because he said he does not get enough business at the resort. I'm sure if you tipped him he would stay as long as you want him to, etc. I told him I requested him - and he was surprised...I don't think the resort tells him how heavily requested he is.

If you send me your E-mail I can send you a few pictures that he took - I don't really know how to work this forum :) haha!

Let me know if you have any more questions! Also, I wanted to highlight for everyone that we had our dinner on the terrace at the arrifices restaurant! It was very yummy...and we had our own area and staff - it was GREAT! They block off the area and don't let anyone else out there. They set up our cake pretty...put out our place cards, etc. So I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone...also - since they do the fogo de chao style food - its fun for everyone!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
