Alternative to 'Who Gives this Woman in Marriage'?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies, I was just reading through a recent thread and I thought this would be a good topic for the forum. Let me know if there are already threads about this! My Dad is walking me down the aisle but I agree with some of the ladies that saying 'who gives this woman in marriage' doesn't fit for me. We're very close but it's a little old school for me. I know he could just walk me and sit down but does anyone have ideas of something to say in place of this?

I like this. It's very sweet. I did a google search and found this.

Officiant: Now is when traditionally it is asked who is giving this bride's hand in marriage. Instead, I ask you, Bride's Name, is it true are you here of your own free will and do you come with your family's blessings?

Bride: Yes, it is true.

Officiant: Wonderful. And with whom do you come and who's blessings accompany you?

FATHER: She comes with me, her father, and she is accompanied by all of her family's love and blessings.

I'm sorry! frown.gif It will be very sentimental to have your brother do so and I am sure the one that Lucky recommended would work great.

I don't think they will if you don't walk with anyone down the aisle. Sorry your Dad won't be there. ouch_125.gif

grouphug.gif Your not alone in this one. I read a thread on here where someone suggested your FH meet you 1/2 way down the aisle. I though it was the sweetest thing. This is what we are doing and I am going to carry a memory frame with my dads picture in it so that both of the important men in my life are with me. Might make you feel a bit better to about your dad not being there....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
