  1. Hello, I just threw out my info from my agent on the silver and gold dinners. We had the gold and it was a sit down with 3 different selections containing 5 courses. I was told we had to have all of our gusets have the same five courses (with the exception of vegetarians and kids) We had steak and lobster and it was fantastic. From what I remembered the silver was a buffet dinner but I could be wrong.
  2. I had Jaun Carlos for my wedding in Cabo on Oct. 20th...We do not have pics yet.....but I can't say enough for his work based upon his website and other links from the forum. He captured us and in spite of the fact that he is pricey....we would not have gone with anyone else! You get what you pay for:) Nancy
  3. Hi Erika The music is not included. I hired Ron Weber, also known as DJ FunkleRon. I know the name is crazy funny....I found him through the forum from a different bride. He is a California transplant living in Cabo in his retirement. He was perfect for our needs. Our group did not dance----we used him for mood music, changing things up when needed, introducing us for our first dance, intoducing my mother for her speech and allowing others to come up to the mic and give speeches. He is very chill and laid back which is what we needed. We had him from 7:00-10:30 for $475. We did tip him as well. I thought he did a nice job. His email is [email protected] He met us on Thursday at Dreams (our wedding was on a Monday)in the morning to go over our plans, we gave him a much of cd's that we burned so he could put them into his system and so that he could know what our style of music was. You can also rent a speaker system with a microphone from Dreams for $275 and do the music on your own. We did this the night before for our welcome dinner. That worked great for our needs the night before. I hope this helps. Nancy
  4. Hi Melissa, I was charged only for my guests over the 20 that came included in the package for my reception/cocktail hour. The charge that they gave me was $68 per person which included the cocktail hour and dinner reception for my wedding. Again I had the ultimate package so I am not sure if they do things differently for different packages. We did have a welcome dinner the night before and for this there was a fee per person. They do these special set ups for people but they charge a minimum fee per person. For example for us they stated they only do these private set ups for groups of 40. We just paid the fee of what it would be to have a private set up for forty people. We paid I think $1,200 or so for this welcome dinner but it was gorgeous. It was a private buffet right on the pinata terrace. They way the set it up and took care of us was amazing. They went all out with the buffet set up, exhibition style cooking right there, waiter service --3 guys for our party of 28 -- huge buffet station, salad station, and dessert station. My guests were VERY impressed as well. We also had a speaker system with microphone so that we could give speeches and play our own music during this event. It does seem a bit steep and my wedding coordinator here in Milwaukee did not try to get the prices down as they were stated clearly in the literature the hotel gave her and me. I really feel you get whatyou pay for and we certainly got an amazing welcome dinner on Sunday and our reception on Monday was perfect! I did not get married on the beach so I do not want to comment on your other questions. I do know you get the white covers on chairs for free and the ties are $2 each. Hope this helps Nancy
  5. I just got married at Dreams in October 20th and it was PERFECT. I will also work on a review in time. Yessica was great, so if you have heard she is the lesser of the wedding coordinators on this forum....she was wonderful. On your question about packages. We booked the ultimate package and i would not do it any other way. Everything is just done and you do not have to worry about anything. It is their best package and it comes with everything you could possibly need. The food for the cocktail party was great (I was told...I was taking pic with Juan Carlos) and the dinner that we had was amazing (lobster and filet). We booked a one bedroom suite and then we were upgraded for free to the honeymoon suite. I doubt very much that they will upgrade from a junior suite up to honeymoon suite but I could be wrong. Nancy
  6. Hi Everyone I am getting married on Oct 20th at Dreams Los Cabos. Let's at least all be thankful we are not down there right now...I think there are a few brides that are getting married at Dreams on the 12,13 time frame. I hate to even say this as I too am freaking out but my friend just told me there is a second storm, I think it is Odelia or something like that is brewing too. I emailed Juan Carlos who is my photographer to give me an update as I know he is down there doing some other weddings. Nancy
  7. Congratulations! I will be married at Dreams October 20th. We have 26 people coming and will be having the cocktail hour on the El Patio Restaurant Terrace since it is covered (from the sun) and the reception on the Oceana Terrace. We are having a Caribbean Buffet welcome dinner on the Pinata Terrace. Hope this helps Nancy
  8. Hello Everyone, I am glad that I am not the only one who frequently visits Juan Carlos' site. I send the links of his weddings to my friends and they all cry....he is amazing! He is doing my wedding at Dreams on 10/20/08 and I can not wait....I think I am most excited about him being our photographer! Nancy
  9. Thanks Giao, I emailed John Fagen today. I clicked on your wedding site and saw that you are from Madison, WI originally, got engaged on 12/24/07 and marrying at Dreams on 10/10/08...I live in Milwaukee, got engaged 12/25/07 and marrying at Dreams on 10/20/08. That is so funny!!! I will be at the resort onb 10/15/08...will you still be there? How many guests do yoiu have attending? I have 26:) Nancy
  10. Hi everyone, I would like to know if anyone could pass on John Fagen's email. My wedding is on October 20th at Dreams and making contact with him has not occured yet. My Travel/wedding specialist is trying to help me out but he has not contacted me yet. Everything else is in place for my day...... Thanks nancy
  11. I can not give you information on either of those two photographers, but I can say that Juan Carlos Tapia is wonderful. He is the person who I booked through seeing him on this forum. I am not sure if he works in Cancun however.
  12. Welcome! I too will be getting married at Dreams Los Cabos on April 20th, 2008. I am working with Yessica from Dreams. I chose to spend my money on the photographer (Juan Carlos) and simply go with the hotel coordinator. Good Luck!
  13. For those of yo interested in the Barcelo property I woul dbe happy to do some 1st hand research for you. My fiance and I are going to be staying at the Barcelo Colonial Beach April 19th-26th. We are not getting married there (we are getting married in Los Cabos at Dreams 10/20/0 but rather just vacationing. If you want answers to what certain areas look like for wedding plans or info on restaurants please post your questions and I will try to search out answers as I am there relaxing:) Nancy
  14. Welcome! You will find valuable information in this forum. Good luck on the planning. Don't wait to long to book your hotel if your wedding is in October. I am getting married October 20th in Cabo San Lucas and it was very hard to get the resort I wanted. I had to go with a Monday wedding in order to get Dreams Los Cabos. Nancy
