  1. Hi everyone, Hubby and I got married Feb. 2 2010 in Cozumel and we are having an at home wedding celebration party in July for those who could'nt come to Cozumel (and those who came too !!) I am struggling with what kind of gift we could give to our guests at our AHR. We are having an outdoor, tropical theme party at a campgound.....any ideas ladies also any ideas on activities we could do at the party...starting at 2PM ending at ....? My creative juices are running low after spending months on DIY invites, OOT bags etc for our actual wedding and I knew this was the place to come to get ideas for our AHR. Thanks for your help, Julie
  2. Haven't been on here for a bit...wow so much to catch up on....Add me to the list please.... Julie and Rob - Grand Cozumel Jan 31 - Feb 14 wedding Feb 2
  3. Hi all, Been awhile since I posted, another February 2 2010 bride here....29 days !!!! argh. I am trying to find words for sand ceremony so if anyon has any ideas out there please email me at [email protected] My list is pretty much complete, but I know I will have forgotten something. OOT bags done, flowers chosen, ohhhhh forgot, CD's to burn yet, also making a small currency exchange card to add to OOT bags. Gotta get hunney's pants hemmed and pick up my dress on the 22nd. I wanted to get our rings engraved but couldn't think of anything "catchy", "special" to put on them, his in particular. Another thing I'd like to do and if you ladies have any ideas, templates, etc I'd love to hear from you, is a welcoming note with ideas on activities, maps, for your info stuff etc. We are staying at Grand Cozumel, so if any of you ladies can help I'd really be most appreciative. Should have come on here sooner to ask for help, but just started back to work after an injury had me laid up for 9 months and now it's all coming up so quickly. Julie [email protected]

  5. Congrats ad welcome to the forum. I too got engaged at Christmas...2008 tho and our wedding is planned for Feb 2 2010 in Cozumel.
  6. We were in Cozumel Jan 28 to Feb 4 2009. It is a lovely island away from all the hub bub of busy cancun. Major cruise ships dock here so staying in the downtown core area is much livlier than staying say 15 minutes up the road. Not much night life except in the downtown area. Very safe. I found the beaches to be much nicer further away from downtown. OGC is about 15 minutes or so from cozumel airport and downtown area. Taxi's or rental car easily available to go into town from resort and /or tour around island. Have been to Dominican Republic numerous times, Jamaica and Bahama's, I enjoyed laid back atmosphere of Cozumel. I do enjoy bartering tho and found this did not happen on the beach or at the resort at all.
  7. Hello... We are getting married February 2, 2010 so needless to say we have had plenty of contact with Ricardo Torres the wedding coordinator. He is usually quite good at responding fairly quickly (within a week) to emails I find. Unfortunately I can't answer your question re catholic priest, but I can agree that the flower prices are ridiculous. I sure hope they are nice. I actually decided to get the bridesmaid bouqet instead of the bride bouqet, as it was half the price, I don't have a bridesmaid, and just can't see paying such a high price for flowers that end up wilted or we end up leaving at the resort. We have 13 people booked for a beach wedding...at 5:30 PM as I requested a sunset ceremony. I just hope it does not get too dark for pictures. I too was not terribly impressed with the recommended photographer, kind of amateurish I thought. I have a friend who is a photographer (not wedding mind you)who has offered to take pictures and I am giving all my guests a disposable camera and asking them to take candid pictures throughout the day and ceremony. We have booked the Mexican trio so I hope that works out. Have you been to the resort before? We went there last January for a time share presentation (I know...got suckered....) but silver lining was our original resort choice was undergoing major changes so we decided not to book and at least had a fairly good idea of the layout of OGC. Rooms are really nice and large, grounds beautiful, staff very friendly, had lunch at beach rest. which was very good. Anyway, glad to see another OGC bride on here, thought I was all alone ;-(((
  8. Alas...I don't have enough points to open. Can someone send me the template pretty pleeese. [email protected]
  9. I'm new to this forum. Getting married February 2, 2010 in Cozumel Mexico. Any brides here getting married in Cozumel? This is a second marriage for both of us, but a first destination wedding.
  10. Another February bride here girls....I share February 2 with Susie Q. This is 2nd marriage for us. We are getting married at 5:30 PM on the beach at Grand Cozumel. Now here's my question, even tho my hunney and I were actually in Cozumel at this same time last year, I cannot for the life of me remember when the sun started setting I would like about 1/2 hr after ceremony for pictures....will a 5:30 start be too late? I see you are from Ontario Susie Q, me too, where are you departing from and when, maybe we will be at the same airport? we are leaving Jan. 31 from Toronto. Looking forward to a few more chats before the big day !!!!
  11. I'm a Cozumel bride, looking to book for February 2010 at Occidental Grand or Holiday Village, have you made any decisions or contacts yet? I'd love to share any info. Julie
  12. I'm from Whitby Ontario and I've just started planning my wedding. My fiance and I were vacationing this past January in Cozumel and decided we would like to get married here also. I have the same kind of requests as you so I would love to hear any of the replies you may receive. We are thinking Jan or Feb 2010.
  13. Hi Erica, Congrats on your lovely wedding. I am so glad to read the new reviews on here. I had put wedding plans on hold for awhile as my first grandchild was born in May and had some complications. All is good now and the plans are just about to start again. We have already "reserved" our Symbolic ceremony at Grand Palladium Punta Cana for Dec. 5 2009. I have had minimal contact with Isyuney but she has eventually answered most of all the questions I have had. It's reassuring to hear this appears to be a common theme but that that everything turns out well once at the resort. As this a second time around wedding for Rob and I, we are trying to go low key. We don't expect many guests at all so hopefully we won't look silly with 4 or 6 chairs for our guests. I'm sure we could hook a few vacationers to sit in as guests lol.... We have also been to the resort before so feel comfortable knowing what is available and the general surroundings. The one thing tho that I didn't get a chance to see while we were there was the gazebo. Is it near the beach at all? I want to go for a beach ceremony like yours, but didn't want the photo's to include any stray vacationers so it was nice to hear that they made efforts to alleviate this. Was the price quoted to you by Isyuney, apart from the extras you chose, accurate and did you pay it upon your arrival? Anyway, I'm sure if I have any more questions, I will be writing you, but again thanx for the review and post more pics please ;-))))
