Welcome!

If you have any questions feel free to ask away ( it'll also help with that NOOB status!!)

Jamaica, Cancun, Cabo & Puerto Vallarta have really good nightlife.

St. Lucia has some great day trips!

If your guests won't be there a full week you won't need a location that is so chock full of activities as you'll also want time to visit!

If you need any help feel free to pm me!

Ta Jennifer

Welcome to BDW land!

The Cancun/Riviera Maya area can be very affordable and lots of fun for families, honeymooners and just about everyone. My wife Karen (Luckyk72) and I got married at Dreams Tulum and loved it.

Take a look around, see what places might interest you, then ask away. Pretty much any place you choose will have a bunch of info on here.

Happy planning!

Welcome to the forum. Keep posting and your status will change. One slow day at work and the next thing you'll know is that you're a junior member.

Congrats on your engagement. FI and I went thru the same issues re venue. We knew we wanted an AI to keep costs controlled for guests. We looked at the Bahamas (not great options with kids), Bermuda ($$$), Barbados ($$$, plus 12+ hours in transit for my family from the W. Coast), and Mexico.

We finally decided that we'd go with Cancun/Mayan Riviera. We're still figuring out where (leaning heavily toward the Paradisus), but at least we have the geography under control.

Good luck with your planning - everyon here is SO helpful.

Thank you everyone for all of the info! I spent about 5 hours at work on BDW site! Thank goodness my cousin is my boss and is excited I'm getting married....I'll see how long I can milk it smile72.gif

I just thought about posting a new thread for my venue. Even though this will be our second marriage I still want something romantic and special for both of us since we had sucky fryingpan.gif prior marriages. We are both inlove for the first time, so this is awesome! Some of the logistics are giving me a headache... We both have 7 year olds and we want them there, but need to find a nice place not too super expensive but not too cheap either that accomodates children. Then we want to send them home with relatives so we can journey on to our honeymoon at an adult only resort. But I need to copy this under a different post title! smile105.gif

p.s. LOVE THE SMILIES!

Jason thanks for the advice...I am so telling my FI to sign up just like you did...I think that's awesome and he could kill some time on his blackberry while waiting for all the various hearings he attends! More points!!

welcome3.gif You will find a lot of information on this site. One thing when looking for a destination you want to make sure that they don't have to go for a week. Some destination only have 7 day trips and some people want to attend but are not able to go for the entire week.

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
