Standout Moments From Your Las Caletas Wedding

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be cool to share the "OMG" moments from our weddings. We have several LC brides-to-be and several past LC brides who are still obsessed (ahem...Ann and I for starters). Just adding a little fuel to the fire :P So many things stand out for me, but this one is pretty cool:

At one point during our reception some of us were dancing and some were hanging out around the bonfire, and someone shouts "Look!" and a crowd began to form at the shore. It was dark but the water/waves were lit up electric blue. When the water washed onto the sand the beach was dotted with bright blue things, which the LC staff said was some kind of bioluminescent plankton.

That sight, with the dark sky and perfectly full moon shining above, was breathtaking. It didn't last more than a few minutes but the show was spectacular. There I am in my wedding dress, Will in his wedding gear, both barefoot, with clumps of flourescent blue sand in our hands. All of our guests were at the water's edge with us, totally awestruck. It was like the universe making a toast for our wedding....lol

Yet another reason why LC is spectacular and full of magical surprises :o)

OOOOOHHHHH fun for me. but tough - I have a feeling I will keep coming back to this thread.

Since I had never been to Caletas before our wedding day, AND since I wasn't feeling well that day I did no exploring or anything. I basically sat up in the bridal casita just hoping i'd feel better and not have to get sick while walking down the aisle. Anyway - this means that I had never seen our wedding site, or anything (the casita is way up in the jungle). So when I was walking down the curvy trail (or "aisle" - lol) I started to see where I was about to be married. It was breathtaking - and I was seeing it for the first time. I couldn't believe how it look with the jungle, the rocks, the ocean, and all my friends and family. Then as I came into sight, and could see everything - everyone had the largest smile on their faces, and they clapped ... it was so not formal, but it was genuine. And amazing. And now I am tearing up writing this - in a good way.

And I know there are many more moments ... but I have a load of laundry waiting ... lol

Does this always happen or was this part of some plankton cycle? That would be so beautiful to see.

Aww, Ann that made me misty eyed...lol I didn't realize you hadn't even peeked down below.

Rachel, I've been there at night before and never saw it, or so far haven't heard any other brides mention it. I don't know how plankton operates (hehe) so I don't know if it is a random thing or charted, but the staff knew what it was so it must happen from time to time.

I can't wait to have my special moment. And I hope everyone claps for me too...like I'm a rockstar. That would be brilliant.

Jamie, I must say that I love your siggy pic. I can just hear your guests chuckling as you guys get a little *ahem* into each other during the kiss.

OK I didn't have my wedding at LC but we had a very magical night there so I'm going to share my experience from that.

My FIL bought us the Rhythems of the Night dinner cruise package as a wedding gift to use on our honeymoon. We got there and I felt as if I were on survivor with all the torches lit and being in the jungle. We went off after the dancers performed and just sat on this path and watched fire flies! I had never seen them before and I was amazed! Sitting there with my DH looking up at the stars in the sky and listening to all the sounds was so romantic. I was in heaven. Then this big fat siamese cat came up to us and followed us back to the dinner section(which we were totally late for) hehehe. I ended up wanting to bring the kitty with us back to the hotel. But I didn't :P

I can't wait to go back! And I can't imagine how amazing a wedding would be there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
