<60 Days From Secrets Wo Wedding...... Venting!

Recommended Posts

Ok.so I just found out the SWO's only solution to the issue is that they want "ME" to pay for a tent just in case there is inclement weather. Because they have a huge event that was booked over a year ago where this company wants all of the indoor ballrooms. So initially I only reserved the outdoor venue for 10 people, but was told that I can ALWAYS upgrade. So now that I have been trying to upgrade for 25 people, SWO is telling me that theydon't have a back up venue (indoor) in case of inclement weather. I think this is unfair. I was asked to rent a tent in case it rains, at my expense or I can consider changing my date to the next day and only 11am and 2pm are available. I AM DO FURIOUS!!!! and don't know what to do. Of course it's too late to cancel. If it were just my funds I would, However I have these 25 people that have paid their balances. ANY SUGGESTIONS!! Everytime I call them I get so upset I want to fuss and cuss, but I am going to start crying!!!! HELP!!

That is CRAZY!! I don't know what to say. If you rent the tent and it doesn't rain do you at least get some of your money back?

Also, is the reception outside, maybe having a tent will give everybody some shade if it is bright and sunny outside. So it won't be so hot.

I honestly don't know.. It's just CRAZY!!

I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with this stress 2 months out. I do think it was their responsibility to book your back up option or pay for the tent at this point since it is their fault. Have you called their corporate office versus the hotel? I think you'd have better luck with them.

Keep us posted and good luck!

Hey @@Soon2bmzbrooks ,

So sorry your hotel is putting you through this, but it is usually their responsibility of the resort to have a back up plan in case of rain.  At least that is what the hotels in the Riviera Maya do.   However if they say you need to get a tent (this is my advice to you, you would only need to confirmed/book this latest 72 hours not earlier. is this something your resort would let you do?

Happy Planning

Joyce

That is horrible I am getting married there next year and I hope I do not have a similar situation. How much is it to rent the tent, I do not think that should be a cost you incur as they should have had a back up option for you.

@@Soon2bmzbrooks that is terrible of the resort to spring up on you. Were you provided with any contracts when you booked your wedding? Is there any clause regarding inclement weather? Unusually it will stipulate what the resort does incase of rain, storm, hurricane. When we researched resorts for our wedding we always asked what happens in case of rain, and they all had a covered location for a back-up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
