Tinkersofi's Planning Thread - Azul Fives August 13, 2015

Yeah I usually buy them from VS too because they fit nicely, they're good quality and they're not too expensive, hence why I ended up with so many haha.

I'm back from the alteration appointment! yay! So I don't have to change the back to a corset, they'll just let it out a bit around the waist and I should be ok :). It closed so that's good, but after a while it became kind of painful from how tight it was.

I was also surprised by the price, they're charging me around $290 for the hem, taking out the hips and top, and adding a bustle. I don't know, I thought the price would be much worse.

@@TinkerSofi I'm so glad to hear your alterations turned out well. That's a great price for alterations. It's good their letting it out a bit even if it closed. The last thing you want us to feel pain from wearing it all day!

And I'm sure that although Juan doesn't get it now, he'll appreciate your sentiment to give his sisters presents. All guys can see at this point in the wedding prep is the money being spent but they're not looking at it from a sentimental perspective.

And I agree with you and @, I love VS swimsuits! I'm so glad they're in Canada now and we can try on the suits. I was always afraid to try on the high waisted suits. I love the look but thought it may accentuate my stomach more!

I think we got a pretty good deal :). It's still expensive but after seeing all the work this lady put into just pinning my hem I started wondering how long it takes them to actually do the alterations. That lady is just so patient!

Are we neighbours yet?

I think once the day arrives he'll see the point of getting them a gift, but now there's no arguing haha.

For some reason now I'm more stressed about the dress than I was before. I started thinking, what if they do something wrong, what if they cut it more than they should? I know I'm just being paranoid and I should trust the experts.

Hey!

I do believe it takes them a long time, especially to take their time and do it right. Trust me I went through all those emotions and more!!! Normal :) but you are in good hands.

Not yet! End of may. I realized the other day I am a bit past the catholic school. There is another T intersection just past the school I am at!

it's totally the control freak in me, as if I could do it better, ha! yeah right... :P. Now to wait until June, my appointment is right after I come back from Vegas so we'll see how that works out... :S. I'm not the type to change weight too much but what if haha. I'm guessing since it's not an AI and there's a lot of walking involved, if anything i'll lose a bit of weight.

Ohh ok, so you might be about a block away from my house, probably close to the little alley that I have to go through to take the bus haha :)

@@Wafflesmom I tried my dress on with the chicken cutlets yesterday. I think I finally put them on where it created that cleavage in the middle. It looks great and they're really comfortable. I guess it's a happy medium between not wearing anything and putting sewn in cups which I didn't really like. If I lift my arms and arch my back you can kind of see them, but it's better than seeing the actual thing haha. I'll see what happens on the next appointment, maybe they can do something about that.

I went on Saturday for my second fitting and still have anxiety a few days later - seeing the lace trim cut off my dress and the scissors in her hand FREAKED ME OUT! The only alterations I even need are hemming, bustle, and strap-shortening but I still felt so uneasy seeing my beautiful (expensive) dress cut. Rationally, I'm sure it will be completely fine, but I'm a worrier so I guess I'll just be worrying until I get it back!

I am the most worried about the bodice and it not being lose enough. It's not that tight, so I think letting it out will be ok, but now I keep wondering if I made the right choice instead of putting the corset, again worrier over here too. The corset would have given me more peace of mind but I guess if plenty of girls get their zipper done up in Mexico why can't I right? I'm happy that I got the dress to even close when I compare to when I first got it but I honestly don't think I can do much more. I would have to drop a couple of body fat percentage points, which would mean I need to cut ALL junk food, sugar and carbs. I know it's an unrealistic goal at this point and it would add a lot of unnecessary pressure.

I love the bustle that they're doing. The actual skirt of the dress doesn't have more than a sweep train, so it's only the tulle skirt that they have to bustle and it looked gorgeous, very seamless, which is what I wanted :)

I'm so glad the chicken cutlets worked out! They are super comfy but they still show? Can you manipulate them so they're positioned differently? Maybe stick them lower? Your cleavage may look funny though

Well. after having a coffee way too late in the day I have too much energy so I might as well put it to good use and do some late night wedding planning :D

The bridesmaid dresses came in! Yay! I am in love with the color, they really couldn't have turned out better. Silly me, I was too excited and didn't take a picture of my actual bridesmaids wearing the dresses so you're going to have to put up with me trying on one haha. I have the one for my Argentina MOH, so I took a picture to send to her. Please forgive my silly face.

I really can't pull off this dress as well as my bridesmaids can, it's way too long for me and the straps are a bit long, but it's better than nothing :). What I love about this dress is that it fits pretty much anyone and it needs very little alterations. Juan's sister only needs her straps shortened a bit, but otherwise they fit like a dream. That means I can also relax about the dress not fitting my one MOH across the world. It will look great. It's very flowy, but only the top layer, the actual skirt underneath has more structure, which is great for staying put even if it's windy ;)

I finally got around to cutting the signs and putting them in the frames. I also owed you guys a picture of the back of my guestbook cards so here it is:

Finally, worked on the tags for the fans. I decided to add some stamps to the back so they wouldn't be so bland. I understand no one will likely even care about this but I thought it added a nice little touch. I made 3 different designs with the stamps I had from my invitations :)

The next goal this week is to work on the photobooth. I have already picked the props I'll be using, so it's just a matter of ordering them and printing them out :). Then the most important part, figuring out how the whole thing will work out logistically.

PS: OMG 3 months on the dot away!! I can finally start the actual countdown :P

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
