How To Stress To Guests Must Book Soon. Booking Deadline Soon

Recommended Posts

Oh, sisters...mine is pretty much the only one left to book and our deadline was 2/6  Our travel agent told us the lowest room category is almost sold out, which I relayed to her, yet she still hasn't booked. I know she is coming, but the deposit is only $150! What's worse is she also had a destination wedding so she should understand, and I sure as heck didn't miss her booking deadline!

I'm also not even having a shower or bachelorette party for her to plan...so I'm taking it pretty easy on her. All I ask is that she book...ARgh! (Rant over...ha.)

My frustration is .. We told people back in June 2014 that we were having a DW in Jan/Feb 2016 .. Almost 2 whole years in advance .. "Start saving your toonies" (A Canadian $2 coin).. We now have booked our resort, gotten pricing etc. .. and given people 6 weeks to put a deposit down .. I am getting people (my sister) saying "We don't have the $$ for the deposit" ..

I told everyone back in June we were doing this and you didn't bother to save?? YET went on a cruise in December and were planning on a last minute trip in January that they didn't end up going on .. You can afford to do those things YET do not have the $$ for the deposit for your own sisters wedding .... *Sigh* .. And my other sister hasn't replied to any of the correspondence .. Not a peep!

I realize people have time but when you have given them so much notice and they didn't bother to prepare .. its upsetting ..

Vent over .. :)

Omg my sister, my only sibling told me she didn't want to have to save even though I gave her 18 months notice, bc it would impact her daily quality of life to save for my wedding. That I'm selfish and my wedding is not suppose to be for me, it's for my family,(mind you my family is my 2 children and their father) and the honeymoon should be when I travel!

You think she would put together a bridal shower or anything? Ha!

I put together her entire bridal partly, she lives out of town btw, lugged her and her friends around Chicago 41/2 hours away for her bachelorette party etc.

People always put themselves first, and when you find someone who is considerate keep them around!

People can be so hurtful!!!! People also have $$$ and time for what they want to do. 18 mos is more than enoigh time. I had a friend tell me "im not going to make your wedding. I like to hike and i dont want to sit around and drink"...i appreciated her honesty.

I had a sister like this. I have enough next pay day to put down my deposit, oh it'll be after this or that and 90 days later my aunt had to pay her deposit. There will always be one.

I made so many trips to Indianapolis cooked, cleaned, made decor/invites was running around on her wedding day fulfilling any and every request. And I still would. It's amazing how people forget how to treat others when they are not in need. At minimum be honest and upfront and it wouldn't hurt to exercise a bit of grace if telling a bride you can not attend her wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
