Hi Everyone!  Just found this site today and thank goodness!

Getting Married at Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica in December 2015 - yay!

Looking for anyone getting married there to share experiences or feedback to help in planning.  I'm willing to share my experiences as well.

I have already visited this resort in October 2014 (where we actually got engaged)!   :)

We loved it so much we decided to go back this year for our wedding.

Congrats! You've made a great choice for resort! That's where I got married in 2011. We love the resort and loved Jamaica. I know there are a few things that have changed since we were there. The coordinators are gone and the section we stayed at has now been renamed to Don Pablo and they've put the price up. Not sure why. We were on the 7th floor and had a fabulous view of the water. We actually saw the cruise ships coming into to Ocho Rios. There was another bride that got married 2 days before us and they were over in the other section and she didn't like it at all. It's quite a bit older from what I understand.

Are you getting married in the gazebo? One thing, there is quite a breeze down there so make sure there is extra spray in your hair! We were supposed to have our dinner in The Grill but the floor was being replaced so they put us into one of the buffet restaurants instead. A lot of ladies rent out The Pisces which is the open air restaurant right down on the water. It used to be $1700 to rent out the whole restaurant but likely the rates have changed now. I also hear they've instituted an outside vendor fee for photographers, etc. of $800. Hair and makeup the girls will recommend Rashel Edwards. She has a facebook page which I can look for if you want it. All the girls say she is fantastic but you need to book her early because she is in demand. We used Merrick Cousley for our photos. His work is beautiful and he's very responsive to emails. You'll get quite a few recommendations for photographers - I found Jamaica just a bit higher in price than Mexico. Marcia Roberts is popular as is Misha Earle, and both have websites.

If you do a search up top in the forums section several will come up that you can take a read through and see what past brides have to say.

Good luck and happy planning!

Thanks everyone for all the welcomes, I actually just found the 550 page thread with all brides for GBP Jamaica and was able to happily make all the necessary choices.   I noticed a slight decrease in activity recently with 2014 / 2015 brides - hope there are some around to share their experiences and photos.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
