Where Did Your Groom Get His Suit?

Recommended Posts

My fiancé hasn't figured out where to get his clothes for the wedding. Did your from rent or buy and from where? He's concerned about the costs for the groomsmen if they all have to buy everything.

Good question! Mine has not bought his yet. But we went to Jos A Banks and tried on some. I think the total for a slim cut 2 piece suit similar to an Italian cut, was like $284. We are not having a traditional wedding party but if we were I would start calling local mens attire suiting stores to see what their policies are for renting for destination weddings. I know a lot of men do not wear a suit on the beach and I'm not even sure where your ceremony is going to be held but, I LOVE the photos of men in a suit and a bride on the beach in a veil etc. Good luck! Let's us know what you find out!

Since you're in the US, Men's Warehouse does a "destination wedding" suit that you can travel with. When I checked on it last summer, I think the rental is about $200 (don't remember the exact dollars) but then if you're going for a week, it's half again of the cost to keep it for a week. So many US weddings are only a weekend so I would look into the rate for a Friday to Monday deal. If you compare that with buying, you could offer an either or to the bridal party. The alternative is a shirt and pants only in which case there is Tommy Bahama and Island Weddings that do really nice shirts. I know there are brides here that have found things at Macys. My husband when we got married wore light coloured pants from Kohl's that he really liked. They were very lightweight and the perfect colour, then he did his shirt from Tommy Bahama.

My fiance is not doing a full suit. Just the pants and vest. We got those two pieces at H&M and it cost....wait for it...$25 for BOTH the suit pants and the vest! They were having some crazy sale! I did not plan on spending that little. We just lucked out that what we wanted was seriously discounted. Personally, I wouldn't rent. You can get a nice suit that can be worn again for the same prices as renting.

Well my fiance wants a Hugo Boss suit. We really shopped around at cheaper places but he just loves the fit at Hugo Boss and I have to agree with him there  . After spending so much money on a dress I will never wear again, I really couldn't say no to a suit that he will wear again.

As for the groomsmen, we also don't want to make them spend a lot of money so we're thinking express dress pants in light grey, white shirts and either bow ties or regular ties. Express usually has sales where you get one pair and the other one 50% off so we're thinking of having all the boys go together so they all save some money. They also have a really nice fit and they're easy to dress up or down. They're very versatile so I'm sure the guys will wear them again after the wedding :)

Thanks ladies! I think we're going to give Jos A Banks a shot for pants since they always have crazy deals, and check out Macy's or another store for shirts.

@@nadiakat17 we did the Perry Ellis Linen suit on sale as well! FI got the whole suit (pants, jacket, and vest) and the groomsmen got just the pants and vest. Good quality!

Before he found the Perry Ellis, he was eyeing Studiosuits.com for himself. They will make you a custom suit based on your measurements and there are SO MANY COLORS and fabrics to choose from. He is still thinking of ordering some pieces for the rehearsal dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
