Brides Parents Not Attending

Recommended Posts

Walking down the aisle alone is not strange at all. I am very sorry to hear that your family won't be there with you on your special day but don't let that bring you down. Have them in your heart at all times and you won't feel alone, after all you are joining another family and they are part of you too.

I'm so sorry to hear your family won't be able to join you on your special day. Don't let it bring you down. My brother can't make it to my wedding nor can my sister (she is my maid of honor). I realize you can only do so much and make the best of it. You walk down that aisle in that beautiful dress of yours! :)

I'm sorry to hear that as well. I've had to deal with a few insults as well about Mexico. Seriously?! It's like saying you're not going to visit Chicago because the south side is dangerous. People are ignorant. NO ONE on my fiancé's side is coming except parents and brother. One of his cousins told me, "I don't want to wake up with only one kidney." It took a lot of strength not to tell him what I thought of him.

Anyways, enjoy your day, and you're right, your family will have to deal with their decision for the rest of their lives.

Even though this post is a little dated, I am very glad I came across it!  My younger brother passed away in February and life has not been the same since.  I can’t seem to fill that void as we were so close.  My mom and I had to make the decision to take him off of life support, and because of everything we have been through…her and I have never been closer.  That being said, my dad (parents are divorced) decided he won’t be coming to our wedding because of “financial reasons”.  But conveniently, he can spend money elsewhere with no problem at all, I have been soooo upset about this.  But now, come to think about it….it’s my mom who should be walking me down.  We have been through the worst of the worst together and came out stronger than before.  So,  I asked her and she seems pleased to do it.  Going to make the best out of it, no matter what the situation may be!

@@RivieraBride15 I'm sorry to hear about your brother, I can't imagine what you must have went through.  I really admire your strength and courage to remain positive and make the best of the situation.  I think it's amazing that your mom will walk you down the aisle, that's something special you'll share for the rest of your lives.  I wish you all the best on your special day!
