I'm in Tetris mode right now, trying to get the wedding stuff packed!  Then will work on our actual clothing, haha.

I'm only really panicked about the music at this point - we were going to do an iPod but we don't have a traditional iPod (mine shorted out with a faulty usb connection in our chevy and we have generic mp3 players now) and I don't know how to make playlists on them.  Plus I still have to buy all the music.  It might be cheaper, if we still can, to do the resort DJ ha!

Update 3.2.2015

Luggage

I went ahead and ordered 2 of these 33" rolling duffel bags to pack, just in case our 3 bigger suitcases weren't enough (well, that's what I told FI, I know they won't be lol).

$35, hot pink and easy to pick out of the checked luggage.  Plus, with prime shipping AND Amazon currently doing 3% back on luggage on fatwallet (if you don't use fatwallet to get $ back on online purchases, YOU SHOULD: http://www.fatwallet.com/?referral=hartmar),it just made sense.  I'm going to pack mostly our clothes in the duffels, and use the hard luggage for anything breakable.  I saw similar ones at Walmart last night for about the same price, but they were smaller & would have had taxes on top of the price.  So this was DEFINITELY the better deal.  Plus, Prime Shipping means they're here in 2 days, and I leave in 8!!!

Link to bags (they have other colors, like black & red, but the hot pink was cheapest lol): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003K4SQV8/

Bridesmaid Gifts

Here are the completed contents of my bridesmaid gifts!  These are in addition to the OOT bags they will be getting when we get there.  I will give them these the day of the wedding!

  • Customized Waffle Robe with Name/Initial in their color
  • Customized Hanger
  • Barefoot Sandal (for ceremony)
  • Crystal Earrings (they can wear for the ceremony if they want)
  • Jamberry Nail Wrap & Manicure Kit & Nail Polish Remover
  • Wedding Day Survival Kit - Face Wash, Cocoa Butter, Scope Mouthwash, Hairspray, Hand Sanitizer, Anti-diarrheal pills (lol)
  • "Be Safe" Kit - Condoms & Lube in Kiss Bag - will probably make a cute little poem to go with it (I got pregnant with my youngest 2 years ago in Cabo, haha, so they'll think it's funny)
  • Younique 3D Fiber Mascara
  • Blue Sunglasses (I'm keeping these in a bag with the ceremony stuff, I want them used for pictures!)

All but mascara:

Robe/Earrings/Barefoot Sandals

Jamberry Wraps/Kit

Toiletries

Mascara

Packing

I started packing, eep!  So far I've filled up 1 suitcase with "gifts" - OOT bags all fit in the top of one of the suitcases, and the bridesmaid/mother's gifts on the bottom.  I'm going to put the cups & shotglasses in another suitcase, since I want them in the box.  The only other thing to add is the welcome books for the bags, and I'll add those with the cups when we get there!

OOT bags in the top of a suitcase!

Glasses (luckily all plastic lol) in a box, waiting for the next suitcase.

Wedding Attire

I opened my Wally bag I bought from another bride on here a long time ago (I probably should have opened it months ago lol) and it's amazing!!  The dress weighs almost 9lbs (weighed it this morning) and is poufy, so I don't think I'll be able to get a ton of other stuff in there.  But it'll be protected :)  I just have the dress, my shoes & the flower girl outfit in there right now.  It's so poufy, I want it to fold!

I am flying Southwest Airlines/AirTran, and am a little worried about them letting me take it on.  The good thing is that we're getting on a flight that connects in Chicago, so theoretically we'll be first to board the new plane too.  I don't know if they have closets to hang...if they do make me check it, it's double protected and the resort is going to steam it for me anyway.  If they lose it though...so we'll go with POSITIVE thoughts that I can take up a whole overhead compartment ;)

Back to packing!

i bought a wally bag as well from a bride here and I'm really anxious to use it!

HELP!! I'm trying to do the luggage deal and I can't get it to work. Do you order through Amazon? or FatWallet? I tried to put the code in on Amazon and it says I can't apply it to my purchase.

Sorry - I'm a total braindead when it comes to this stuff. I've never, ever been one to order online, usually because it's so darned expensive in canada but with having my stepson's address to ship to in the US I'm getting braver, and this site is just giving me so many good ideas!!! But yeah, I'm definitely technology challenged with this stuff!!

To use Fatwallet.com, you sign up for an account with them first.  Then you search for "Amazon" under the top search bar.

Once you click on "Amazon", you will be taken to their fatwallet.com landing page.  It will give you the current cash back categories.  Click on the "Luggage" shop now button, and it'll take you to amazon's site.

While it's loading, it'll actually do a popup to let you know that you are eligible to earn the 3%.  You can leave a note there on what you purchase, so that when you go back later, you know what you ordered.  I tend to put what i ordered & the $ amount (before taxes, etc).  So make sure to enable popups for this site.  In your account, you can track click history from the fatwallet site, and put in support tickets if they didn't report it automatically.  That's the real reason I put in notes :)  They are pretty good at giving it to you once you provide customer support with the order information.

I started using Fatwallet in 2007, and have gotten back (via paypal) over $600 on online purchases.  Until I moved here, I didn't do a lot of online shopping since I lived in a big city, but I do most of my shopping online now :)  I check here first before I do online purchases at places like walmart/target/amazon/best buy/ebay, etc.  They have a pretty good forum that showcases deals/coupons too.  There are other similar sites - i think one is called topcashback or something, and I know I've heard of other ones (ebates maybe?).  I've used this for so long, I default to it haha.

Yay!! So soon now - what day do you fly out?

Everything looks great - the girls will love their gifts.

It gets so really when you are packing hey? And I agree it is like Tetris. I just packed as I finished something and set those bags aside. Less stress last minute :)

Since you have kids you will get priority boarding and then you can either claim your overhead bin or have it hung up. It will work out fine I do feel!!!

We fly out next Wednesday, but travel Tuesday to get to the first airplane leg of our journey with family.  So 5.5 more work days ;)  SO real!!

We're flying southwest/air tran, so they do kids after the A boarding group.  I'm hoping since we have 10 people going from the first flight to the second that we'll get enough people in the high As we can easily grab space lol.

Quick Update!  3.3.2015

DJ

I'm going to go ahead and bite the bullet on the DJ.  I know I won't have time to get everything ready this week, and honestly I don't want to have to worry about it LOL.  Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with a DJ, in terms of timelines and what you provided him/her?  I've got a prelim list of songs, and songs obviously for the important parts (first dance, garter toss, etc), but not sure what else to put?  I figure $100/hour is really not bad; I've seen a lot worse on here, and my sister in law is paying SIGNIFICANTLY more than that in Chicago...

Light Up Dance Floor

Someone talk me out of this $800 light up dance floor.  I want it so bad.  But holy cow - everything else has been super reasonable, I don't know why this is so crazy high!!

I do love that it gives more views of the private reception area on the water, tho!  SO EXCITED!!!

Ring Update & Nails

I got the anniversary band in today, so now I'm totally blinged out haha.  I'm not taking the 2nd band with us, but it really evens out the bands.  I need to get my e-ring cleaned before I go, and then I'm ready!

I also got acrylic french tips put on - typing is rough!  I'm waiting for my new wraps to come in the mail, for my "mermaid nails" hehe.  I will probably just do the french tip for the wedding, since that is classy.  We'll see :)

Unless you are dancing in the sand you don't need that dance floor :) save your money! And even then you may not.

Is your DJ your MC? If yes give him a timeline. I'd plan it around how long you have Luna for. You'd hate that you didn't do your cake before Luna left etc. Music wise I just told them what genres I wanted and he did AWESOME!!!! If you hate a certain song then give him a list.

Oh that's right! I forgot! You have Samuel for your pictures too!! Oh now I really can't wait! If you're doing a list of shots for him in advance, would you care to share it? We're only like 6 or 8 so I know there is a ton we won't do but I love his work so I'm anxious to see how well he follows your suggestions and requests.

I got a bag! But I got the blue instead. Even taking things to Mexico, Doug would have a FIT if I took along a pink bag! lol Thanks so much for the tip. It's going to work great!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
