I am also looking at this resort. Ironically the "destination wedding specialist" never heard of it nor was it in her top 5 so that made me want to chose another travel agent as it is a popular resort. So now I am on the hunt to figure out what company to chose as a travel agent for all my guests.

I would love to hear from you afterwards as this is on my list.

Interesting she'd never heard of it. Even if it wasn't popular with brides it's a popular resort in Cuba and makes the top 10 list. I love Cuba. What else made your list? :)

@@Hola2016 Congratulations on your upcoming destination wedding!  Being a TA who specializes in destination weddings only I would strongly recommend having phone consult with your TA before moving forward to make sure you both are on the same page for what you are looking for.  You should feel comfortable and confident with who you choose as you will be working with them very closely for quite some time as will your guests.  Finding the right TA will make a world of a difference with your destination wedding planning experience.  Feel free to private message me with any questions as I am one of the Canadian TA's for BDW or contact through this form here to help you with planning your dream destination wedding!

Yes, she never heard of it and then when I asked for quote anyway she came back with $2498 for a basic room in the off season. I said for 7 days? More than a year away? In the fall during hurricane season? So I am searching for another agent that is recommended by someone I know who has done many. I did not like her prices. She knew we wanted kids at the wedding as we wanted to not leave friends with kids out from coming, she recommended adult only resorts, this meant she was not listening. If I have a flew yellow and red flags before signing. They are out.

Hopefully the next one works out!!

We just stayed at the Melia Varadero and loved it. There was a wedding or two while we were there.

Some others on the board married at the Ocean Patricia and the Iberostar Laguna Azul and Iberostar Varadero.

When we booked the Melia Varadero for January the ocean vista azul wasn't even in the search results but as you said it's close so when we walked the beach to explore we saw it!!!!

We loved the Melia Varadero. They have some great upgrades (the level) and we felt the food was fantastic. We really loved it. The gazebo was great too!!

@@Hola2016

How is your search going? We booked through Ana at Now Destinations - she has been so so wonderful :) Our final payment is due tomorrow and if it's anything like our deposit due date, she's going to be bombarded by our wedding guests!

We've got our fingers crossed our resort is as lovely as it seems and I will definitely give a full report when we are back.

    • I think I fhttp://www.cigarjamaica.com/ound what you're looking for:
    • My parents divorced quite recently, just few years ago after being rather unhappily married for 26 years. My mom caught him cheating. I got engaged a few months ago and a month later with little notice my father married the woman who he was with when my mom caught him. I live in a different country so only met her and her family a few times, they were very nice to me, my father is very happy. I am polite / neutral with her. On the contrary my mom is not doing great at all, she is still in a complete breakdown and a month after engagement she made a scene that she does not want my father at my wedding and hang up on me. When she found out i speak to his new partner she refused to talk to me ever again. It’s been a couple of month now, i tried to reach out but she blocked me. My mom is not really a very reasonable type, i try to take care of her and cheer her up but I cant just sit and talk to her peacefully, it is always a drama when it comes to my father. My grandparents are on her side. I mentioned to my father that i will not be inviting his wife as i don’t feel comfortable making the whole situation much worse and also because i really dont know her well to which he said that he may not be coming then. What do I do about it? It looks like it maybe the case that neither of my parents will come or if my father comes with his wife i may never be able to fix the relationship with my mother....
    • I'm so excited to finally, after 9 years, getting married again!  He's so amazing and we want to have an amazing wedding in Jamaica next year.  Allow me to introduce myself:  I am Katherine,  his grandchildren will call me KitKat! who is marrying a minister that truly leaves me speechless at times the way he loves and cares for me.  Professionally, I am a destination wedding planner/travel agent/award-winning floral designer, so this wedding will be my ENCORE.  Last night, we started out with 50 guests, relatively the larger size of most destination weddings.  Then our guest list grew to 100.  Right! My team right now, does have a contact in Jamaica, that I'm already working with. We are working on the budget, constantly.  The plan is to have all of the details together before Thanksgiving holiday, so that family and friends can prepare to start booking.
