I am originally from Nacogdoches,Texas but I currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia. I am torn between Mexico and Dominican Republic because I want to make sure that my Texas family can attend the wedding. So I am trying to see if the flights are cheaper from Mexico or Dominican Republic.

Have you priced the flights from Texas?

Hi Christien,

We did price them from DFW both for our wedding back in 2012, and for our upcoming trip in June 2014. We found that  Cancun flights were less expensive than DR for us from DFW. Plus DR is a connecting flight vs. going direct to Cancun.

If your friends & family are flying out of Houston though, there may be better pricing and direct flights to DR (lucky Houstonians!). Try to do some rough pricing using Expedia or Orbitz. If your wedding dates aren't available for flights yet, price it using 2014 dates as an estimate.

Good luck!

I did some pricing from Hobby, DFW, Bush Intercontanental and Atlanta. The prices were very expensive from houston and dallas. So I may have to look more into flights to Mexico since flying their seems to be cheaper but I am also waiting for the TA to provide me with pricing.

hopefully your TA can find a deal!

We do have the advantage of flying on charter flights from DFW to Cancun. FunJet & Sun Country are two of the biggest. I think they have them out of the Houston area too. The trick is to figure out which days they are flying though - they don't fly the charters 7 days/week. Your TA would be able to access those flights.

One coming advantage for Hobby is that Southwest should begin flying to Cancun later this year direct from Hobby.

I will say that even our flights to Mexico seemed expensive - but less expensive than DR..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
