Hey ladies and congrats!!!

My fiancee and I are really thinking of NOT doing formal invitations for our wedding.... We really do not want to have the extra cost.... We created a wedding FB page and plan on doing facebook invites.... We do not expect a large turn out and don't think it's necessary to do the formal invites when everyone has a FB these days....

We sent out save the dates which had the facebook page link on it....

What are your thoughts on this ladies???

This is our save the date... The back shows the information... THoughtS????

Love the save the date! You guys are a gorgeous couple :)

We're considering doing the same thing. We're going to send out save the dates to everyone that has all the info on it and a link to our website. I think I'm only going to send invites to people that are coming with more details about the actual wedding events. It seems like a waste of money to send to people that are not coming, but all the etiquette articles I read say that you're supposed to send out a formal invite too - argh. We deliberately didn't put "formal invitations to follow" on our save the dates in case we don't!

Does your FB page have an rsvp option? That's why we went with the knot website.... we're figuring people would rsvp to us after getting the STD

We are sending out a "formal" invite at with timing of a typical save the date, with instructions and information on our wedding website (wedshare.com)... and we will be using our website for all main aspects of our "invitation" like RSVPs, song requests, resort booking information etc.

We just thought it a bit redundant to have both invites and Save the dates... AND the website, so in an effort to save money we compromised with a combination that meets all of our needs.

@tygrrlily-- Thank you!!!! :)  on our wedding FB page we sent out invites so people could RSVP.... We just don't want the extra expense... But once we get closer to the wedding and people are booked, we are going to wend out pre-travel folders to those people so that they will have more info on the resort and such plus we are making everyone luggage tags!!!

@kmk2016-- great idea!
