Negotiating Contracts

Hi all, my date is set for Dreams Riviera Cancun and I just got my contract today. I see that prices I was given in writing 2-3 weeks ago have increased by $150-300 in my contract. Does anyone have experience negotiating? I'm not confrontational, even via email haha, and I don't want to piss off the wedding department before I even start planning! But I do think they should honor their written promise.

Anyone have advice on wording, experiences with negotiating at DRC or any other resort, or things I should ensure are in the contract?

I'm not surprised that would happen.  I would just email them and say something along the lines of, "Hello,  Most of the contract looks just fine. However, I think there might be a typo.  I noticed the price on the contract is slightly higher than the price I was quoted previously.  Would you be able to update that for us?"   It's Mexico, everything is negotiable.  And they do try to mark-up as many things as they can.  And we're all human so it could be an honest mistake too.  As long as you ask kindly, it should be fine.  Just start off the email being nice.  Nobody could be mad at you for asking them to give you the price you were quoted.

I negotiated with my location over email.  I am waiting for my contract, but I have saved all my emails just in case this happens.  They deal with a lot of people and I can see how it would be easy to overlook pricing on some things.  Just make sure they have the times, food, decoration details in there.  And make sure the pricing includes all taxes and fees at the end.  Good luck!

Welcome to the forum, nattiegams325, and Congrats on your upcoming destination wedding!!! Sarahop81 is right - it's important to watch the details of your communications closely - great advice for getting it corrected too.

Wishing you all the best with your plans, and that it works out in your best interest - Cheers!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
