Hello Brides,

I am getting married on Nov 8th, 2014 @ 11am at Azul Fives.  I am expecting around 80+ guest (maybe close to 100).  I've selected the "Always and Forever" wedding package.  This package has minimal decorations and I am interested in adding my own touches.  I've read a few responses suggesting to bring your own decorations with setup fee of $250.  My biggest concern is traveling with the decorations and favors for guest.  I do have a wedding planner who will be traveling with me to the resort.  Should I have her bring these items?  I just don't want to be stressed out over this when traveling.

We are planning to do the private event/reception following the wedding.  I haven't yet decided the location as our wedding is taking place in the AM.  My fiance and I are just really excited about being able to have so many family and friends attend our wedding.  We both LOVE to party and would really like a fun filled reception.  I hoped to add my own decorations to this as well.  Does anyone have any opinions regarding the DJ?  The cost is like $1500-$2000.  Pretty steep for a DJ that I am not familiar with.  I did read somewhere that you are able to send them music (happy about that).  I've also heard from some past brides who used the DJ that they would have also been okay using the IPOD & Speaker setup.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I honestly think I just got lucky. Before we reserved our date I was speaking with my current coordinator and she helped answer some questions. Then when I found out I was assigned to the horrible one :) I reached out asking if it would be possible to be switched to her. I had her email address from when she answered some questions for me prior to booking.

I did complain several times and there was another bride on here that also had a problem with the first coordinator. It couldn't hurt to ask!

It does take a few days to get a response email. What I like about my current coordinator is that we usually schedule a phone call for a specific time/date and I compile all my questions and thoughts for her then. I find it easier this way.  Then after our call she sends me an email confirming all the important things we covered.

I am curious, and its ok if you dont want to share. What was the cost of everyone's room block for three days? Just curious to see if everyone is paying around the same amount or if one month costs more than another

@Lilgabri03 I am having my reception on the Skydeck as well at 7.30pm and in 2 weeks. I can provide you with feedback when I get back. So far, I have been told it can get windy but my wedding coordinator is not bothered about my decor just the votive candles, hanging crystals and candles but we have a plan B if it gets windy.

@khmciver I made an official complaint via email to my previous wedding coordinator's manager. My Travel Specialist with Destination Weddings Travel also submitted a compliant on my behalf to the Karisma Hotels' head office regarding my previous wedding coordinator and was assigned a new coordinator a week later. I hope this helps!

I am not getting married until 2015 however we want to have our reception on the sky deck? Has anyone done this? How is the weather up there? Is it hot? Does food fly away? Help!

Hi! The Sky Deck is where I'm hoping to have our reception as well, but it may not be big enough for our group. I heard it can get sort of windy up there, but I think that'd be nice, especially if it's hot outside. There is a $15 surcharge per person to have the reception up there if they're eating dinner. If it's just a cocktail party, it's a $8 fee per person.

As for the room blocks, the first rates we got we're about $160/person for the basic deluxe room, all inclusive. That included transfer and that was only for 40 rooms. We need 65 so they're redoing our rates and I don't want the transfers included. My travel agent can negotiate the transfer rates b/c she does so many weddings there, and apparently the transfers in the rates are higher than they typically are. I'll let you know our updated rates when I get them. :)

Hi! My wedding is going to be pretty large too, so I am definitely going to bring down some of my decorations. I have a travel agent who is also my wedding coordinator and she is taking my welcome bag stuff down with her. I have my maid of honor bringing some of my decorations because she gets two bags since she's a United Card holder. My fiance gets two bags so he's taking some and I am taking some in my second bag as well. So basically, I'm having everyone I know who gets 2 bags use their second bag for my decorations. :)

I'm still trying to determine the size of the sheers I need to get for the gazebo, but hopefully I'll figure that out soon. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
