How is the planning going, ladies?

Just wondering if you've thought of favours yet? Are any of you going to work Christmas/the holidays in there at all?

Hi ladies!

Planning is going great!  Save the dates have been sent and we already have 7 couples booked (and earned 5 free nights for us!) and another 4-5 couples who are working on their reservations right now.

We are keeping things very simple - no bridal party and not a lot of "extras."  One of my good friends is a hairstylist and will be doing my hair and makeup for the ceremony.  We don't have a bridal party, so no dresses or anything to plan there.  I've already purchased my dress ($150 J. Crew dress - brand new with tags!) and are going to wait until the wedding gets a little closer to pick out the grooms outfit, jewelry, etc..

The only problem I've had so far is with the resort wedding coordinator.  After we signed our contract and paid our deposit, she sent us about 20 questions to answer regarding the wedding (flowers, color of cake, did we want a DJ, etc.).  We answered the questions and sent them back and she promised to get to them "as soon as possible."  Well, it's going on 7 weeks now and still no response from her!  I'm not sure if that is a normal turn-around time but I'm going to give it another 2 weeks before I start to get really irritated.

We are traveling from December 6th-13th, which we picked on purpose to avoid the peak season rates (which start on the 19th) and to avoid the holiday crowds.  Even so, the resort is already filling up pretty quickly.

Hope all of you are having a great time with your planning!

@@ChristinaL - Apparently the response time is typically bad, but still. 7 weeks seems pretty ridiculous to me. I'd probably send a follow up and maybe add in a question or something to make sure they got it

Can't speak for your resort (and yes I am a January 2015 bride), but my resort asked me to send that form back approx. 3 months before my wedding.  I think they just want an idea of what you want, which will be firmed up when you meet the WC in Mexico.    At our resort the ladies we speak with now aren't the WC and they will get in touch with you 1-2 months before to really get things rolling!   You could always email her and make sure she received it!?!

I always said I would marry in Vegas, but alas it's Mexico lol

Nonetheless when I was looking at places in Vegas (Paris/Bally's would have probably one), I was noticing A LOT of the chapels said they were 'sold out' for 12-13-14 heheh

Seeing your username makes me think of this!

@@calgarybride2015 We're hold up at the Stratosphere! The welcome reception in a suite overlooking the valley and strip, awesome chapel, champagne buffet, after party at the lounge and NFL Week 15 game watch at the sports bar! I put together an awesome weekend, well within budget...I think! LOL!

@@VegasBride121314 - When we were choosing a date, 12/13/14 never even occured to us haha. I saw someone else ask about the date later on, and it finally clicked and I was like OHH that makes sense haha. So we're 12/19/14 - based purely on pragmatism :P

I offered was met with "what does that mean to us?" So, one day, we're on the couch geeking out and I said how about 12.13.14...he said that's sounds cool! And with that we had a date!  I wanted to get married at 10:11... but whether it was a.m. or p.m. I doubt that it would have worked...

Let me try this again.....

@tygrrlily ...It took us forever to agree on a date. Every date I offered....LOL!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
