I'm looking at the Akiin Beach Club currently for our wedding in early 2015! Looks amazing.. Just waiting on to see if it fits in our budget. Past Akiin beach brides, if you don't mind me asking what you spent? We are looking at spending 10,000 or as close to that as we can for 40-60 guests and I am not sure if that is going to be enough or if it is enough.. oh this wedding planning is fun LOL. I reached out to Fresa Weddings, Kristee seems so wonderful already and reading the reviews on her, I am crossing my fingers that the wedding God's shine down and this can work out!

Hi everyone!

I'm also getting married this May in Tulum!  We're getting married at Piedra Escondida, which is a lot smaller than the other hotels in Tulum but we loved that it was private--there are rocks on either side of the property so no one can walk through during our ceremony/reception.

Does anyone have affordable DJ recommendations?  I've gotten a range of quotes--anywhere from 800-1500 for 4 hours.  We're really looking for someone super basic--as long as they've got enough Top 40 and 80s music, I will be happy.  Our dance floor is going to be in the sand, so we don't want any strobes or fancy lighting or cold fireworks.

For everyone who is still trying to decide on venues or hotels for their guests, I found this website super helpful: http://www.alltulumhotels.com/.  It's just a map of all the hotels along Boca Paila.  When we did our scouting trip, I printed it out, and we walked along the beach and checked places out.

Thanks!

Woow @@sdh8 that is indeed a great tool! 70 hotels? Tulum has surely grown a lot in the last couple of years!

I may have someone useful, feel free to PM me and I'll share their contact info...

Hello Vintage Wedd!

You're right, Tulum has the fastest growing and Tulum is very beautiful for a wedding!

Hi everyone!!

Congrats on your upcoming festivities! This forum has proved to be invaluable as my fiancé and I look to hopefully get married in Tulum next year. We're looking at April/May 2015 and are deep in research mode, however find the slow response of some of the hotels and venues to be somewhat frustrating especially as we try to gauge pricing and availability.

We're looking at:

- La Zebra

- Las Ranitas

- Akiin

- Ziggy's / The Beach and Cabanas Tulum

I keep reading how fantastic Angelina is at Las Ranitas -- would anyone have a direct email for her? We emailed Las Ranitas over a week ago and have yet to hear back. I read in a travel forum they might be remodeling but I would think they would be answering emails at the very least.

I'm also thinking of trying to plan a quick trip to Tulum in the next month or so to look at venues, but running on a tight timeline and budget as we don't want to get to close to the wet season in July. I can see how local wedding planners/coordinators can be helpful in this arena, so any tips or suggestions on who to reach out to or use would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!!  :D

Hello @@Ella2015, I'm getting married in Tulum this coming November! I decided not to work with a wedding planner since I'm only doing a symbolic ceremony and we decided to invest the budget in the reception (Decor, Music & Ambiance)... But I hired a Design & Decor company that's based in Cancun, and owned by an awesome lady who happens to be FROM Cancun!... Not sure if promotion is allowed but I can share all her deets if you PM me... They helped my FI and I during our site and offered super helpful insight from a local's point of view! And when we came back home, the response time was faster than we had expected after reading so much about slooow responses... The name of the company is KL Design Events. Congrats BTW!!

Hi @@Vintage Wedd! Thanks so much for the reply and congrats on your upcoming nuptials. Please do PM me the info for KL Design Events. We definitely would like a coordinator or a local to help us with the site visit - we have a million questions! Which venue are you getting married at? Thank you!

Hi Everyone,

I'm getting married at La Zebra this October.  I am researching vendors and still need recs for these:

- Florist

- Make up

- Hair

- DJ Equipment Rental (we have friends who are DJs)

- Videographer

- Furniture Rental

I have been in touch with Planner 1, but want to shop around a bit more.  Please let me know if you have recommendations.  Thanks!

Hi @@sandall7 -- so I'm getting married in just about a month at Be Tulum and am just finalizing a lot of our vendors now.  So the good news is, you have a bit of time :)

Our hotel coordinator also recommended Planner 1 and they were very nice and responsive, just a little out of our budget.  I also wrote a similar post in a panic a few weeks ago and got several good recommendations, including a wedding planner - Joyce - who often posts here.

Here's who we are using for the following services.  Of course, I'll know more after May 10th, but for now, so far so good!

- Florist - Cherry Blossom (found them based on recommendations here.  Sandra has been really nice and flexible)

- Make up - The Make Up Pros (recommended by hotel and brides who were also married there)

- Hair - same

- DJ Equipment Rental (we have friends who are DJs) - Not sure if they do rentals, but we're using PlugIn AudioVisual.  We also got in touch with a few other DJs, based on the recommendations in this forum and all seemed pretty good/responsive.

- Videographer - Blue Lens Caribe (recommended by our hotel)

- Furniture Rental - Royal Table Cancun (referral from Cherry Blossom - the biggest savings we found for the ceremony)

Hope that helps a bit and good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
