Recommended Posts

Hey guys...

I was talking to some people about the weather in Riviera Maya in Jan.. and they said that you cant really go swimming in the ocean bc the waves are just too vicious.. is that true? anyone been there or had a wedding there in jan and can tell me how it was?

the second question i have is resorts.. i was looking at riu palace riviera maya, riu palace mexico, and dreams tulum... its hard to choose considering ive never been there? any advice.. im having about 100 people and i want a more formal elegant wedding.. im thinking of having it in a gazebo overlooking the ocean, at sunset with candles.. i can picture it in my head, just dont know which place would be the best for what im looking for...

any advice would sooooo greatly be appreciated!

Hello!
January is high seasson... the ocean normally is great but the weather is a little bit more "cold" or "fresh" than the rest of the year, specially during the night.

If you want a more formal elegant wedding between those 3 resorts i will suggest to go with the Riu Palace wich is in the Playacar hotel zone in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Otherwise there is Dreams Tulum wich is beautiful but totally different style and an hour from Playa del Carmen. Those 2 hotels are totally different.

Think about your guests and where do you want to be? at Playa del Carmen or near Tulum? Because those 2 are totally different and away one from the other.

Best Regards, Yazmin.

I definitely think the waves/ocean depend on what resort and area within the Riviera Maya you stay. We were married at the Iberostar in March and the waves were perfect! I would definitely look under the Mexico thread to find lots of information for the different resorts! Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
