Bride on A Budget (7,000.00 WEDDING CHALLENGE)

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

The average cost of a wedding in the United States is estimated at about 25,000. Destination Weddings have become very popular due to cost shifting from Bride and Groom to Individual Guest. As I read forums and posts it seems like all brides want their day to be perfect to say the least. They book the best hotels, biggest packages, best invitations and before you know it the destination wedding turns into 14,000-30,000 easily.

I am going to challenge myself to create a wedding for my FI and I with a 7,000 budget. Here is how I expect to achieve this

1. Choosing a resort that is price friendly

2. Choosing a wedding package that does not have extra things included that I will not need

3. Finding a photographer that can do amazing work with budget friendly pricing

4. Using silk flowers to make my day special

5. DIY projects in every aspect

6. Staying in basic rooms

I will keep track of my journey by posting a lot of information in the forums.

Please add any tips to help me out.

Having a wedding on a budget does not mean sacrificing the beauty of it.

After all a wedding is about more than money, more than glam, it is about love.

I know people who have paid thousands of dollars for a luxurious wedding and they were divorced 6 months later.

How are you doing on this budget? Did you book a photographer? GONZALO NUNEZ is amazing. And CHEAP!! Best of luck! Xo

I think it really depends on the amount of guests. We're spending about $15000-17000 on the whole thing, which for almost 50 guests doesn't seem too bad. I don't think I could have spent 7000 for that many guests especially because I still want sort of a traditional wedding. It's still costing less than it would at home :). I think 7000 is realistic depending on what you want :)

  • 5 months later...

I paid $5500 for our wedding package.

$2100 for our photography

$5000 for our package to Mexico

then extras for dress, OOT, etc.

in total we paid between $16000-$17000

that's what it's looking like for us too and we really don't want to go over that.

I don't blame you. That included everything for us - marriage license, fee for commissioner, etc. I forgot a couple things (like engagement photos) but it doesn't change it a lot. We were closer to $17000.

It's doable if you are aware of the budget and what's important and what's not :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
