The weather in June in Jamaica - please help!

Recommended Posts

I am hoping someone can help me - I am driving myself CRAZY!

My fiance and I chose June 21, 2014 to get married in Negril.  We haven't send out save the dates yet or anything but that is the date we have discussed with everyone and it is available at the resort we want to book.  We wanted to keep our date in the off-season (June - December) to make the hotel cheaper for our guests.

Here is my dilemma:  Today my fiance calls to tell me that he ran into a family friend who said they went to a wedding in Jamaica in June and that it was a terrible time because it was way too hot.  They could not enjoy themselves. They even told him that it was too hot to drink!!  Now, I cannot even imagine how it could ever be too hot to drink (I live in Philly and we get some majorly hot and humid summers and I can drink just fine!)

So now I have been going crazy googling the weather and people's reviews of Jamaica in June. Am I being crazy? Has anyone been there in late June?  I obviously figured it would be hot but now that I hear that a guest said it was literally unbearable, I am having second thoughts and wondering if we should change the date to December.  I don't want people to be sitting there miserable, drenched in sweat.  I don't really want to be drenched in sweat either.

We are planning to have the ceremony a little before sunset, so hopefully he sun would not be beating down... I don't know what to do!!!

Does anyone have any advice?  Sorry if I sound nuts!

No matter when & where you have your wedding, people will tell you you shouldn't have it then/there. Don't forget that!

While I haven't been to Jamaica in June I have been to the DR which I assume would be similar. It was hot but not unbearably so. The resort we were at even had cold water Jacuzzis on the beach that you could use to cool off! Maybe you can just make sure your ceremony is at sunset and be conscious of other elements of your day that might be outdoors.

It is your day- and I'm sure it will be beautiful whether you have it in June or December or any other month for that matter!

I'm having my wedding in negril may 4. I'm really hoping it isn't unbearably hot but the off season for most hotels in Jamaica start mid to end April. I don't know about the heat in June but I do know that the Jamaican rainy season starts in may and lasts about 3 months I think so that is something to consider. Not that it rains constantly but I think I read that it tends to be daily late afternoon showers that last a short time, but this rain also cools everything down and it's quiet nice after. Forget where I read that though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
