Anyone have info on the RIU's 'private' reception offering???

Hi All, our wedding plans for November 2013 in the Bahamas is well underway! woot.gif

We've decided on the RIU Paradise Island as the resort for us and our guests (approx 75) to stay since we love the idea that it is AI, and it is right beside Atlantis.  (plus we both stayed there 4 years ago on our first trip together).

We didn't want a beach wedding, so we're having it at the CLOISTERS, but... we still aren't sure as to where we will have our reception!?

So, wondering if anyone out there has used the RIU's private ballroom?? or is planning to?? there aren't any pictures on the web...how does it fare in terms of atmosphere... options for decor...food selection...

Or if you have any suggestions on comparable price points for other reception venues??  Atlantis and O&O are above our budget for the amount of guests we're having.

Any info at this time would be helpful!!

happy planning!!

We are also staying at the RIU Paradise Island along with 50-70 guests. We are being married in a church and having our reception at the RIU.

I have asked Debbie for pictures of all of the reception venue options and she sent me pictures of the ballroom. I'm not super impressed but I think that's because of the set-up in the pictures. We are planning to have the reception outside (weather permitting) but she hasn't sent pictures yet. I've looked on the internet as well but no luck.

Congrats on your engagement! And, YAY to Paradise Island weddings in November!  We too are expecting about 60-70 guests, and the semi-private reception was not at all an option. I asked Debbie for pictures a long with a few other questions, but the pictures never came! Would you mind sending me the pictures of the ballroom she sent you? melandjay2013@gmail.com, or if you want to post them here?  that would be awesome!

Is the wedding outside a private reception? and would you be allowed to play music or have a DJ?

Sorry for all the questions, i find Debbie so slow in her responses (avg. 2 week wait) and i still feel like there's so much more to do and decide on.

thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
