Playa Del Carmen Bride 2014!!!

Recommended Posts

Soooo... I decided and made a deposit!!!! I'm going for Grand Sunset Princess!! Playacar was my #1 choice, but unfortunately it went over our budget. Ocean Coral Turquesa is alright, but didn't like the location and too many reviews a out it's not so "Turquoise" beach. I even seen a lot of pictures myself of a not so attractive beach. Again, not picky but that does matter to me. However, it's got great prices! I was given a quote of 894.00 plus 365 tax for April 17, 2014 (1 week). I'm just happy I finally made my choice, and onto the planning now!!!

Hey Jessica!

I booked back in October (we're getting married in September of 2013).  I used a travel agent to lock in a group rate and manage communications and we got a great price ($571/person for 3 nights in the basic/lowest room category).  This doesn't include flights but does include transportation to the resort from the airport and back :)

Hello N0turavrgeBride, well done: Princess has 2 hotels (identical one in front of the other) and the wedding planners are helpful there (just organized a wedding w a client and her rehearsal out of resort).

See what she has to say, about her April wedding:

Ladies,  Planning a wedding in another country can be stressful and nerve racking for brides. Trust me, I know...I am a true perfectionist and stressed out way too much about wanting things to be perfect for the big day. I found Maria Tripaldi of Weddings in Playa through someone I briefly met, I took their recommendation and ran with it. Words cannot describe how incredibly relieved, happy and oh so impressed I was to have her by my side. She truly made our wedding experience in Playa Del Carmen better than I even imagined! Maria found her true calling in life by becoming a wedding planner, she is passionate, experienced, detailed and on her A game 100%. I ended up going with so many of her referrals when it came to our rehearsal dinner, hair, makeup, flowers, etc.... and was so happy I did. She has been working in Playa for a long time (11 or 12 yrs?) and knows what she is doing, trust me :) I know how stressful brides can get about wanting everything to be perfect on their wedding days and when planning a destination wedding, a good wedding planner is key...Maria is it! By far worth every penny and then some. My husband and I couldn't be happier with her performance and we are so glad she was the one we put our trust in, since at the Resort the planners are overwhelmed with 5 weddings a day and do not have much time. She took away so much of the worry and stress of our big day and we were able to relax knowing it was all under control. I could go on and on, but you get my point... I am a raving fan!  You will be so happy that you chose Weddings in Playa to help make your day the most amazing moment yet.  Hope this will help you and many undecided brides... Maria

This thread is a great idea, we should definitely help each other if we can!  I think there's a few of us in the same situation... this is the toughest decision in the whole planning process I think!!

My requirements are very similiar to yours I think...

I am working with a travel agent, but I am starting to think she is paid only by Azul as she keeps pushing those!

I would have locked in Playacar Palace if they had a decent off-beach ceremony location.  They really need to build a gazebo!

Playacar Palace has a terrace for smaller wedding parties, but nothing else.  I'm glad we booked there but scared of what we'll do if it rains!!!!  ... We looked at the Royal Playa del Carmen which has a really great Gazebo and then Royal Hideaway and Secrets Maroma I think both have alternate options!

Well, like I mentioned earlier. I actually end up booking at Grand Sunset Riviera. I'm very happy with my choice because they have two great options of beautiful gazebos. Beautiful beach, great location, and it's got great reviews regarding their entertainment and fun environment. My thing is..., hey, I'm out here to live, experience and celebrate one of the greatest days in my life. Why should I end up choosing a place that targets the retire old couples such as Playacar does.It was when my best friend who knows me very well, came back from a Mexican (Playa del Carmen) vacation. Her being the greatest friend ever, went and stay 2 nights and three days at each of my 3 last contender resorts just so she can give me the most real and honest review I'll ever get. Playacar, she said was beautiful and good food, but she had to go out at night cause she couldn't deal with the boredom there. The good thing is that it is at the heart of Playa del Carmen, so many things to do outside of it. Having that said, my stay would be for my WEDDING. So all though a gorgeous small resort would be nice, I rather focus more on the whole big picture. My BFF did love Secrets resort the most, but it is an adult only resort and I have my lil munchkins that are the most important people in out great event and MUST be there. So GSP it is!!!! So far everything is going so great and smooth. The wedding coordinator is very nice and is quick to reply to all my msgs.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
