  1. So we've narrowed down a hotel! Now on to chartered flights, lot bags, etc. Melnryluvco, what was the average cost of the flights from Denver? Also, what are you thinking about bringing to mexico from here? I've heard mixed reviews of what to bring vs what to buy there......
  2. Hi lovely ladies, wanted to see if any of us are sharing a common venue and date. Let me know! I'd love to plan together!
  3. Hi Melnryluvco, Yes...I saw that too! Soo excited to have another fellow bride in colorado, we should definitely exchange planing tips! I am getting married outside of the resort, only because my most important aspect of the wedding was privacy. I am sure I could have dealt with it and it would be no big deal, but it really just bothered me that people on the resort have full view to the wedding. Also, we are expecting a large group of guests, approximately 80, and we would like to have the wedding last until after midnight. The problem was, our only option was inside of a ballroom, and the money we would be paying for those extra hours was crazy!!!!! We rented a venue for the whole night, for practically the same price it would have cost for the extra hours, after the 4 hour included reception. How is wedding planning going? I actually did a site visit at the Now Sapphire and it is a beautiful resort! I have lots of pics if you're interested!
  4. Hey everyone, I'm finally very close to deciding on a resort. I am comparing the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe and the Dreams Riviera Cancun. From research, I have gathered that main differences are: better beach at Barcelo Maya, no reservations at DRC vs necessary reservations at Barcelo, no room service at barcelo and 24 hr room service at DRC, Barcelo is a HUGE resort vs DRC is a smaller resort..but would it get boring? Please let me know any insight, opinions, thoughts... I need to decide by the end of next week. Thanks sooooo much, I would appreciate any input! Oh and we're getting married November 2013. :-)
  5. Oh perfect! I wasn't sure if the sports bar was just a bar or if that is the description used for a nightclub with dancing/music. Anyone know if it's every night or just specific nights of the week? Thanks so much, the website just says sports club!
  6. I'm having a hard time finding out if there is a nightclub at this resort. Does anyone know the answer?
  7. We are working on getting a price list now. It seems like for 5 hours of open bar and plated dinner, its approx $105/person. Do not quote me, but we are still in the process of getting details. I wanted to see if any of you have just rented out the venue and are using an outside catering for the food? We are interested in a family style dinner and I'm not sure if Luis can do something like that.
  8. Hi all, hope you're enjoying planning. I've realized that in order for me to start enjoying this process, I need to narrow down a hotel of choice! We have decided to book an outside venue for our reception; however, we are still looking for a hotel for the guests. I have my top choices narrowed down to: Dreams Riviera Cancun Dreams Puerto Aventuras Now Jade Now Sapphire Riu Palace Riviera Maya and Azul Sensatori (but this is not really supposed to be on the list because its too expensive)! ;-) Any and all suggestions or opinions would be really really appreciated! Thanks in advance and Happy Planning!
  9. Congrats on making the decision! I've heard great things about that resort! I need to make my decision so I can start on the fun part of planning!
  10. Sooooo happy that this forum exists! Hi ladies! I went on a site visit last month and decided on a private venue for the wedding. Now we are looking at hotels for our guests ave I have started considering riu palace riviera maya vs riu palace mexico. We want a fun, kid friendly, budget friendly, and beautiful resort with good food! Can anyone comment on whether this resort fits the needs? Also, does anyone know details on rehearsal dinners? Costs? Locations? Thanks! Both resorts look amazing!

  12. Thanks for the suggestions. I think my guests are interested in an all inclusive resort. We are trying to keep the costs for our guests to a minimum.. in hopes of more guests being able to come! We have looked at iberostar, barcelo, dreams riviera cancun, now sapphire and now jade. We haven't decided just yet. Have you girls looked at the contract with the Grand Coral Beach Club? I am concerned because the contract that I am looking over right now has a sentence about no fireworks and no music past 68 db. I have asked around and the music of 68db is not loud at all. Do you know anything about this? Also, I have no idea about Cakes yet, all I know is that I met with some wedding coordinators at some of the chain hotels and their cake prices were crazy! I got a quote from a bakery for $395 for a cake for 100 ppl.. Is that a competitive price? I'm not that far along on my research yet. Happy Planning!
  13. Hi Girls! I'm in love with grand coral beach club! I just did a site visit and I want to book! Can someone please please please email me some price quotes as well as names of wedding planners that you have used? I would forever be grateful! Thank you so much! Yulinka84@yahoo.com
  14. Thank you, the pics are gorgeous! We're heading out for our site visit today! Wish me luck! I'll post details and pics when we get back!
  15. The villas are a great idea! Is it a private beach area that we can reserve for just our ceremony? We have definitely heard great things about the Azul Hotels;however, we don't have enough days to devote all 3 days to the Karisma hotels. I really like the Palace resorts, but I'm not crazy about the 7 different color scheme options by the Colin Howie collection that we have to use! Anyone have experiences with this? Allie H, I love the wedding crashers story, when you mention it like that, it actually sounds like a positive experience to have onlookers! Also, any insight on photographers and florists? I have looked into Del Sol and Luna for photography. I have also looked into Riviera Maya Florists and Marvin with Maya Floral.
  16. Hi everyone, congratulations on the engagements and upcoming weddings. I have been engaged for a few months now and have been reading this site daily, its perfect! I meant to post a while ago, but there are so many things going on, I couldn't get my thoughts together. I am planning on getting married on 11-30-13 in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We have narrowed our resorts down to: Now Sapphire, Dreams Riviera Cancun, Azul Sensatori, Moon Palace, or Dreams Tulum. We are also considering a private venue, away from the resort. Our main goal is privacy! I really don't want people to hang out in swimming shorts and be "wedding crashers"! Also, we were considering Barcelo or Iberostar, but not sure if they do a great job with weddings. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions? I would love to hear some of your thoughts on these resorts if you have contemplated them as well. Also, I am planning to fly out to a site visit on 1-18 to 1-23 and have appointments set up at the hotels. I would be more than happy to take/post pictures. I was planning on meeting with an outside photographer and an outside florist. The wedding guides from the resorts have centerpieces running almost $300/each. Does anyone have suggestions on photographers or florists? Thanks so much ladies, I look forward to sharing thoughts/ideas! Julia
