Playa Del Carmen Bride 2014!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!!!!

I'm starting a new thread because I thought we "undecided brides" can help each other out. I'm currently not booked anywhere, but do have a few places in mind; in Playa Del Carmen.

I originally was going to do a Cabos wedding, then changed my mind to Mayan Riviera where I could fine better resorts for better prices, then I fell in love with Azul Sensatori but it went over my budget for my guests and seen way too many reviews about it having a horrible beach. Also, not a fun resort.... and those two things matter to me.

Sooooo, now I find myself lost and hoping to find the perfect resort (perfect for me, at least).

If you guys have any suggestions, I would appreciate it plenty. I'm including a list of resorts I have in mind, and a list of MUST HAVES.

List of Potential Resorts

1. Secrets Maroma Beach Resort 5*

2. Playacar Palace 4*

3. Riu Palace Mexico 5*

4. Grand Sunset Princess 4*

List of MUST HAVES

1. Budget is $1350 per guest.

2. Beautiful beach, turquoise water, and not full of sea weeds.

3. Good wedding packages, and romantic ceremony locations (Preferred off the beach/sand and under a garden-ish Gazebo).

4. Kids friendly.

5. GOOD FOOD

6. Fun environment, good entertainment with good party vibe.

(I have a big latino crowd, and we like to party!)

I would like a May wedding, specially one around 5 de Mayo! So we can have a chance to celebrate the Mexican culture!

I am aware that my budget is low, but I have some guest travelling with kids and all. So I would hate to make one family spend up to $6000,00 to be present in the day of my wedding.

They are important people to my fiancee and I, and we are trying our best to get our family and friends there.

Please feel free to be honest, and tell me your honest opinion of any of the above mentioned resorts. As I need as much feedback as I can get.

I would also be glad to help any of you with any information I fish out!!!!

Hello NotuUravrgeBride,

As a wedding planner here in the Riviera Maya. I will have to say Playacar palace has almost everything you listed on here, except your will have a beach ceremony. They are for sure affordable, family friendly and closer to town especially for those guests who enjoy night life.  White sandy beach and good food.

My second choice is secret maroma beach for the you will get 5*** and all your guests will have tons of fun they do have the most beautiful beach.

Riu Palace have the beautiful beach, you can have your ceremony in a gazebo over looking the beach. .

Hope this information was helpful.

Feel free to ask us anything any we will be happy to help.

Happy Planning

Joyce

Hi darling,

it is completely normal to be undecided!

Of all the resorts you have picked the less kids friendly is the Riu Palace Mexico. There are quite a few reviews online of families who went there with kids and they were the one who had the least fun!

Secrets Maroma is about 20 min North of Playa on a beautiful beach, quite quiet!

Playacar Palace is just by the ferry and Sr Frogs... said that said all!

Princess is 10 min north of Playa on a quiet beach too.

I would definitively go for the fist or the last!

Hope this info helps

Saludos

Hi n0tuRavrgeBride,

I am not quite sure about the prices but here are my comments:

Secrets Maroma. Has the best beaches in all the Mayan Riviera (for amazing pics) and a large poolside Gazebo for an off-beach Ceremony. Definately a great option aligned with what you are looking for. Check out this slideshow: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=500.

Playacar Palace. Modern, family friendly and a few steps away from the heart of Playa del Carmen and a small Mayan Temple. This is one of our favorite locations but the only off-beach Ceremony spot we've seen is the terrace which accommodates around 10 guests max. This is a good one to consider!! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=826

Riu Palace. The Mexico is more for adults but the Riviera Maya has tons of activities for kids and a Garden Gazebo!! Try to go for a private reception (it has an extra cost but allows you to have a restaurant exclusive for your group!! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=630. Cool feature about the Riu's? You have access to all of the sister properties within walking distance so if you feel like continuing the party, just walk to the Riu Tequila's Disco :)

Grand Sunset Princess. We've done very few weddings here but it does have a Gazebo by the beach. Check out this slideshow: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=715

Hope this info helps and please let me know if you have any questions.

Best wishes and happy planning!!!!!

Do you mean either Secrets Maroma or Princess????

I would have love to do Secrets, but have just been told it's an "adult only" resort. :(

My time is ticking cause I need to send the Save the Date invites, but how can I; without a resort booked.

I feel like i'm settling, and my TA is making me feel like she's tired of my indecisiveness.

ugghhh... I shouldn't be stress so early in the game LOL. I should've stuck to my lifetime plan of never getting married hahaha...

Hi,

I also am looking into having our wedding in spring 2014 and seem to be on the same page as you- I want a lively, kid friendly (but not too many), modern but not stuffy resort with some unique wedding options, great food and good alcohol.  I'm looking to stick to:

3 nights 1,000 or less

5 nights 1200 or less

7 nights 1500-1600

I have been researching on and off for months and I do believe all Secrets are adults only.  The Palace could be an option but I personally was told to wait for flights to come out to get a more accurate price (they will be out 11 months prior to your date).  My agent also suggested Ocean Coral Turquesa, it looks nice and seems to get pretty good reviews- I haven't looked into their weddings yet though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
