May 2014 Bride and am so lost!

Recommended Posts

Any advice on a resort, dj, flowers, reception, etc. I am trying to pick a resort and was looking at the Now resorts.  Are there any other brides that could help ease my mind and let me know what most likely I should plan to spend with having the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception dinner, dj and also a rehearsal dinner. I have not seen any info on the rehearsal dinner. We just started looking but I am so overwhelmed by everything. We also have two children daughters will be 7 and 3 in 2014 when we will be getting married.  Thanks for any help.  We really haven't created a budget yet because we have no clue what the round about we are looking at!!!! We will be having at most 35-40 people.  I have been looking at this site for a awhile now and figured it was time for more to post something to get some more help.  This site is awesome!!!

Hello there and welcome! You mention NOW Resorts, so that's a great start! Have you narrowed down a location yet? There are a bunch of threads on each of the resorts that may help you zero in on an option/get a target budget: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/newsearch/?search=NOW&resultSortingPreference=relevance&type=all

Good luck!

Hi Nicole, congrats on your engagement! What we did to get started is searched on sites like expedia and trip advisor to check out the resorts in the area we wanted. This narrowed it down to about 4 just for places we would like to stay and had the amenities we needed (ie. kids club, nice beach, good reviews on food and service). Then we looked into what all of the 4 resorts offered for wedding packages and the prices based on the approx amount of people we thought would come. This is important because with some resorts if you have a larger # of people, you may have to pay for a private reception (which was not in our budget). So by the time we contacted our travel agent we had already picked our resort. That being said, if you are really confused about the location, a travel agent may be really helpful to you. We are getting married at the Grand Bahia Principe resort and our budget is aprox $12K (includes our travel, extra honeymoon week at another resort, wedding pkg, dinner at a la carte, poolside reception, extra flowers, dress, rings, FI attire, OOT bags, and $1.5K budget for pictures).

I hope this helps a bit, good luck planning!

Liz :)

Nicole -  Congrats on your wedding. We are getting married in April 2014 at Azul Beach. Since you mentioned that you have younger children and your guest list is 35-40 people, it sounds like Azul Beach would be perfect for you. If your budget allows, they offer a monthly "Dress Rehearsal" that allows you to visit the resort, sample the food, meet the wedding coordinators and view the wedding locations. We are leaving for our dress rehearsal this coming Thursday and can not wait. Good luck with your planning.

Congrats! I'm planning a May 2014 wedding in the Riveria Maya area as well. It is overwelming however I have 3 resorts as my top 3. They are Barcelo, Riu, and Iberostar. My Travel Agent is still getting group rates so I'll decide from there.

Good Luck!

This post is exactly what i need, I just got engaged 3 weeks ago. We are from Canada Toronto. I have to say I am overwhelmed with everything. But I am reading this forum little by little and try to absorb the things that I need to do for the next 12 months. I haven't picked a resort yet and I was wondering if i need to hire a wedding planner or just use the planner offered by the hotel. I have about 25-35 people. I was reading the requirement to get married in Mexico, looks like you need a blood test?! That scares me, I don't feel like being poked by a needle in a foreign country. Can anyone of the experts here explains a little bit more on this?

Budget is definitely in my mind, I was looking at different posts, seems like people are spending about 20K on average which is more than I want to pay. But I am not sure how much I want to pay... i need to see where my money is spending on first.. oh lala.... I dont know where to start. Should I be looking at different resort right now? or should I pick a date? or... should i look for a planner?

need helps, please! crybaby2.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
