Choosing I resort canbe tricky.. My advice would be to talk to a travel agent you trust to narrow it Down, although I'm not expert! Things to think about - kid friendly - do they allow outside vendors -area... Is it quiet or a party area -all inclusive price?you want it to be affordable for your guests, a ta will help tremendously -reviews, obviously, lol - I think a lot of the resorts have wedding guides on their websites, check out their packages to see where you'll get the most bang for your buck

I stocked Trip Advisor and used the reviews on here then i narrowed it down to 4 and then I got my TA to quote all 4 then when I got all the quotes back I made the choice based on what I was trying to budget for my guests, and believe it or not I didn't go with the cheapest!

Good Luck

Hi,

Trip advisor is a great resource as well as getting on some of the webinars through best destination wedding for the resorts once you narrow your choices down.  Also, keep in mind that a lot of the big resorts charge fees for outside vendors so if you are thinking of hiring an outside vendor ask about the fees before you book so that you can include that in your budget.

Happy Planning!

Jennifer

I also just started planning too! Finding a location is so overwhelming because the world is literally at your fingertips! I'm pretty sold on Punta Cana because of the beautiful beaches and affordability for my guests...but I can't help feeling like I'm overlooking an even BETTER location which is still as affordable. And then when you think you know the location you want, your faced with a list of resorts, all with their own fair share of good and bad reviews. I fell in love with a resort, and trip-advisor crushed the beautiful resort my Fiancee and I thought was THE ONE! So now I don't know what to do. I have a love-hate with those review websites. Ugh... I hope its like finding the dress...you will just know when its the right one!

I went with the travel agent at destinationweddings.com gave my agent the feel for what I wanted then she gave me resorts and destinations that she felt would mesh. Then I lived on the travel websites for about a week and looked and every candid photo and read every review. I ende up with Moon Dance Villas in Negril. If you want my TAs info PM me. She is fab!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
