Hello!

 

I am brand new to this forum.  I tried to find the answers to my questions on here, but I couldn't seem to find a thread that covered it all.  So if I am repeating someone else, please direct me to the correct thread.

 

I will be having my destination wedding in Las Vegas.  Two weeks after we return we will be having our AHR at a really nice banquet hall here in town.  I will be inviting about 150 people (all family and friends) and I was wondering if we could still have a 'normal' reception.  I will not be wearing my wedding dress, but I did find a really cute short wedding dress I will be wearing that is only $80!

 

My main concerns: Can I have a first dance with my husband?  Should we do flower/garter toss?  Should we do a dollar dance?  Should we register for gifts if we're not having a wedding shower?

 

I would like to do all of the above, but I am not sure what the etiquette is here.  At the reception we will be showing the video of our wedding, and also doing about a 6-8 minute photo slideshow while the guests eat dinner.

 

Any ideas are helpful!  Thank you.

You can do whatever you want!!!! It's your wedding!  I am getting married in Jamaica and am having a formal reception when I get home.  In jamaica, I am not doing anything.  Just the 20 minute ceremony and then changing out of my dress.  So, back home, I plan on doing a first dance, bouquet toss, and all that stuff.  I am even wearing my dress.  Basically, I am doing a formal reception, just no ceremony.  Whereas in Jamaica, I am doing a ceremony, and no reception.

I think you can do anything and everything! The only things I would.omit, (which are basically money savers) are the fancy transportation & fancy flowers! As far as the set up of the reception, if you're lucky enough to have one in paradise and one with friends it family that couldn't make it, enjoy & do it twice! :) I plan on doing this as well... We have a huge Italian family and they expect a lot out of our weddings... I am almost relieved at the excuse of not having to plan a wedding here! We are getting married at an Eco park in Mexico (xcaret) and having a party back home upon our return (about 3 weeks after). Good luck with everything! :)

The male guest line up to dance with the bride and the females with the groom. Each guests gets a short (few seconds) dance with either the bride or groom after pinning money to their clothes or a member of the bridal party collect in a decorative bag.

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

      Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
