Just curious where everyone is doing their reception? I am planning  to do mines at the Jamalaya cajun restaurant, as from what I've read it's air conditioned and more intimate. It won't be a private reception as I only have a small group of guests. Unfortunately, they only offer exclusivity of the restaurant if there's more than 40 ppl. It doesn't leave room for dancing/entertainment options. Are any of you having a non private reception as well, and if so what are your thoughts on no entertainment/dancing and that you'll be dining with other guests too.

Hey girl !

I really wish to do it at the steakhouse, I like that it's near the beach and open and I also like the setup better... but WC made it clear that I need 50 ppl in order to have the steakhouse (private). However, she told me I can do private reception in any other restaurant even if we end up being 25ppl ! (maybe it's because it's going to be low season) For us, it is very important to have a private reception, whether we are 15 or 75 so it was one of the first thing I had to clear up with the WC. If you don't mind doing the non-private reception, you could just eat there and then move to the disco for dancing or just to a bar and have some drinks as a group :)

Hi Ladies.. Sorry that I have been away but it's been very busy with planning for the wedding. I'm having the reception dinner at the steak house, just like Missroxy, I like the setup better. My cousin married in Jamaica last yr and she has suggested that I should get married, have the wedding toast, have dinner and then party at the disco.. No matter how you do it, it's still going to be beautiful and memorable. I have sent out my save the dates on postcards. I have found my dress, the designer is Allure.. Right now I'm working on the formal invites and oot bags.. I will also buy umbrella's for the guest. I'm having fun!

Hey AndyB :) So happy to see that there is still someone on here haha :) So are you sure to have 50 guests for the steakhouse ? To have it private in the steak house, WC says I need 50 guests... I'll try to convince them again once I know how many people are attending. After all, I'd pay the 1000$ for it AND it's low season so it wouldn't affect the resort really...

I'm also working on my formal invites, should be sent out beginning of April ... and I'm going dress shopping in February :)

[email protected].. They are wonderful.. My WC name is Magdalena and she is great! The package that I have will cost me 1,600 for 15 people which include flowers for me and the groom, cake and dinner for 15 people, a trio or pianoist, a champagne Toast, chairs for the guest on the beach or in the flower garden and a few other things. So far I have 35 people attending so I am paying 12 bucks for each person over the 15 that is included in the package which will cost me an additional 300 buck. So right now I am under 2,000 dollars for my wedding. If you decide to have a private wedding meaning if you have 50 or more guest attending you will then pay an additional 1,000 to the cost.

Hello ladies, I am looking into booking with iberostar bavaro for this fall but wanted to know if anyone knows about the marriage license like how long does it take for us to have it so if you want to change your name? And I see that the package says it includes the certificate (in Spanish) how would we be able to get that translated in English?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
