Low Carb Diet and Wanting to get into shape Support Thread

I get tropical smoothie... And they make them with Splenda. But I love coffee too, I get the cold stone creamer. Bangin!! Insanity is cool. I got mine on Craigslist cheap. It's definetly a commitment, 6 days a week, almost 45 minutes of mostly cardio exercises. My fiances coworker did it with his wife and lost like 14 pounds the first month. He also got a heart rate monitor and cal counter, he was burning 9000 calories in that 45 minutes! I'm sure it varies from person to person though. He told me to stick with it cause even though he lost 14 pounds, his wife only lost 3. It's sooo much harder for women!

how do you like Insanity?... :o) Me and a Co-worker of mine are thinking about getting it.

Do it, I have a love hate relationship with this series of DVDs.  It make all the other workout DVDs I've tried seem like a total joke in comparison. Justin and I completed the series a couple of weeks ago and now we incorporate alot of the moves into our weight/strength training regimen.  We're thinking about doing the whole series again at the start of the new year as a morning workout oncve we build up our strength and endurance a bit more.

Dont get too obsessed with the scale, it can be your worse nightmare.  Granted it's a good general gauge, it doesn't account for muscle mass which is very important to factor in. Pay more attention to your loss in inches and how your clothing fits. She's probably gaining lean muscle mass as she's burning fat which is awesome!

I'm doing the low carb thing as well, but am 6 weeks out from our wedding day. I hopped on the scale the other day and was surprised to see I'm down 13lbs. Consider how big I am (size 22!), 13 doesn't seem like much, but for me it was a happy surprise. I can only lose about 7 more before it'll greatly impact my dress, so I'm pretty happy with where I am overall. And considering I'm not really working out..just changing my eating habits, wow. Don't worry..after the wedding I'm planning on a gym routine to keep the lbs coming off.

I am a coffee addict like you wouldn't believe. Starbucks is my poison. I have a make at home recipe for an ice coffee that is about 100 calories. Way, way better than the 400+ from Starbucks iced coffee or the McD's versions.

4oz brewed coffee (I have a keurig, and it makes it soo easy to brew a strong small amount)

1-2 tsp flavored non-dairy creamer (if you can get the sugar free kind, it's even less calories!)

3-4oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk

ice

I use my Starbucks iced drink tumbler with the lines to measure out the liquid before adding ice, and it is super easy. I'm sure you could toss it all into a blender and make a frappaccino version.

Kudos Allie! Don't diminish your efforts, loosing 13lbs is impressive no matter what your starting point was.  I can't believe your wedding is on 6 weeks away, how exciting.

Ugh.. guys always seem to have things easier!..  I really want to try insanity, but working all day and going to night classes 2 days a week, I don't have enough days in the week to commit to the 6. :o( but maybe 3/4 days of insanity is better than what I'm doing now. :o)

Thanks, I'll check out the smoothies :o)

thanks ladies!! I appreciate the encouragement and support.

I love this fake-out iced coffee recipe - I use it with peppermint mocha creamer, and a caramel creamer and both are delish. I do it with a french vanilla flavor at work, and that works too. So I really think you can swap it out with your favorite flavors.

and as for the guys..YES. those rats. my FI keeps saying "I'm only 5 lbs from my goal" and "I'm only 2 lbs from my beach weight". I want to smack him sometimes.

another random: did you guys know that pork rinds are zero carbs? a good crunchy treat. my FI discovered this one - one of my favorite quotes from my New-York-City-boy "I need to go to the gas station for pork rinds and beer". I've been calling him a redneck ever since....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
