2013 Paradisus Palma Real

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to respond.  I guess I was just trying to  point out how some not all reviews were coming across as a god awful experience and how upsetting that can be to future brides.  I definitely appreciate feedback, advice and tips from past brides in order to help us with our weddings.  As far as having never posted before, I did find it odd that you would take the time to write such a scathing review when never having taken the time to post anything previous.  It doesn't make it less valid I just was wondering why take the time now is all.  Thank y ou for your response though, I appreciate it. Ev..... so glad you were happy in the end!!!  can't wait to see pics and I really appreciate the post with the feedback!  So funny one of my coworkers cousins was at a weddind there this July 5th,  maybe yours lol.  but anyway they said they had an amazing time.  I have been to other resorts there and none do compare!!!  I know exactly what you mean thanks kelly
Kelly- Thanks so much for acting as the forum moderator. I didn't realize that I had to state my reason for posting on a public forum to you or anyone else. Rest assured, there is no hidden agenda. I was just sharing my experience. If you check my stats, you will see that you are faulty in your assumption that I have never posted. Sure, I don't post everyday or every week, but I do routinely check this forum and have been a member for quite some time. I apologize if my post did not meet your standards. I wish you the best and I will never post here again. To be honest, I tried to remove my posts but it was not an option.

I'm really sorry my post upset you so much. I am working four ten hour shifts in a row this week before leaving for DR..... I was quickly replying on my break this morning and guess it came across wrong. I wasn't looking to argue or debate with anyone let alone get private messages. Best of luck to you as we'll. Kelly

Well peeps...Tropical Storm Chantal was nice enough not to rain on my wedding...but she messed up our flights. We are stuck here an extra day, as our flights for tomorrow are cancelled. I said I didn't want to leave but this wasn't quite what I had in mind. Before anyone panicks- its just a tropical storm bringing high winds and rain and it should pass by Thursday- when our new flights are scheduled. I was hysterical crying because I feel bad all my guests have to pay for an extra night. Thank god they are all like "don't cry, we like it here, we didnt want to leave anyway" and this is something we will all laugh about later. LOL

This truly is a wedding none of our guests will forget...for sure.

I just wanted to thank you all for your posts and reviews. Yes they do create anxiety!!! What can i say...to hear that its not up to what we expect is freaking bananas...mostly to the gals whose weddings are coming up.

Overall we are in this...money is paid, reservations made, invitations done and that is that.

(Guess i am feeling less anxious, thanks to all of you).

Now back to more questions.

Do the girls who have already gotten married recommend staying at the reserve or royal service?

I like the reserve but do not like that it is adults only... My fiance wants to stay in royal service closer to all of our friends and family but i dont know if that is the best idea....do you have an option to do both if you want?

I don't know about Royal service as I did not stay there but I did stay at The Reserve. Its quieter and more private and has an awwwwwwesome swim up pool and an additional 3 restaurants no one else can access. There are kids here but honestly- we rarely bumped into them and they werent annoying and bratty. We barely noticed them. The service is way better at The Reserve. the workers are more accommodating and try harder to please you. The main resort is only 2 minutes away and there are shuttles. So to party and chill- you go to the main resort, but you come back to the reserve for your private space. If I had to do it again, I would have everyone stay at Palma Real for the wedding and escape- just my hubby and I to the reserve for some privacy. That being said- all of our guests remarked they enjoyed the reserve more. They liked that there were more restaurant options and it was quieter here and that they could go to the main resort and chill but come back to the reserve for peace and quiet. The most fun we had our entire stay was in our swim up pool behind our room (an upgrade we received as bride and groom) All our guests joined us, the waiters brought us drinks and food to the section we were in and it was like our own private party. We are considering coming back for our one year anniversary and I already asked my husband (that feels weird) if he wants to stay in Palma Real or The Reserve and he said "No contest- we are staying in the reserve"

It isn't even raining or anything. No indication of a storm- but American Airlines won't fly their planes. Some of our guests are on Delta and their flights are a green light as of now. Strange. I mean- I am suppossed to work on Thursday and Friday and now I won't make it. And our dog is at a pet hotel and we will have to board her two more days : ( I kinda wanted to go home. Well.....

I guess tomorrow I can write my detailed review lol if it rains like its projected and I am just stuck in the hotel I will have nothing else to do. Oy vey!!!! Cest la vie. Weather is not in my control.

Sorry you are stuck, but I am jealous you are still there :) It was so hard to leave because we were just getting in the groove. This is my first full week back at work and I'm already trying to figure out when our next vacation is. Out of curiosity, what were the 3 restaurants that you mention. As part of Royal Service, we were also given access to Aqua, Mizu (I think that's the name) and Gabi Beach. Were there others?

Hi Ladies,

You had access to Aqua and Mizu at the reserve through royal service?

When i visited in January I had access to Palazzo which is in the main building and Gabi Beach also in the main building. I am totally confused....i think it comes with the territory...ha ha....always confused!!!

Anyway, I love the reserve but again i have no idea what my Fiance is going to decide...I am wondering if i can book a room at the reserve for the day instead of the bridal suite since that is not going to work for me....I hear it is too small...

Yep, I even had one of my group dinners at Aqua. I booked this through the Romance team. All of our dinners were booked by our butler. He just asked us what we wanted to eat that night and he took care of the reservation. We also ate at Palazzo a lot - one of our favorites. We tried every restaurant except Vento because my husband doesn't like Mediterranean food but my in-laws ate there and they enjoyed the food. We didn't get to try Mole because they were never open the entire time we were there. Apparently they close some of the restaurants some days, I never cared enough to figure out since the butler took care of the reservations. You can't go wrong wherever you stay because the resort is absolutely beautiful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
